I really hope BM negotiation broke down. Then we have a massive chance if Kane refused to renew. We need to go all out for him. The final piece of jigsaw in our rebuild.

"Almost all of Kane's professional playing career" is not the same thing as "at this moment in time". Sure, Bayern can gobble up as many league titles as they please. However, "at this moment in time", we are just as likely to win the Champions League as they are. So no, they are not a fairly large jump up from us. Unless of course you really value Bundesliga titles, which I do not.
I don't think your odds are actually equal though. They have a CL winning manager and CL winning players. Experience means a lot in that competition and there's heavily outweighs that of Man Utd's.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs' current squad has more CL experience than Man Utd's does.

My wishful thinking is that he stays but won’t renew, and we can pick him up for like £20M-£30M in the winter window.
Why in the world would Tottenham do that though?

Also don't hit me with getting something is better than nothing. Kane for even half a season of goals is worth more than 20-30 million which in today's market basically buys you maybe a player for the future from the Championship.

Why's that funny?

Without checking Spurs and Man Utd have likely made CL about an equal amount of times the past decade including a CL final for Spurs. Maybe the Ajax players in United's squad bumps up their games played numbers?

Casemiro and Varane has won it how many times?

I mean there are 3 CL winners in the squad not to mention the likes of Eriksen, Onana and Fred. Who even remains from the Spurs squad that reached the final? I think it's only Kane, Dier and Son.

Casemiro and Varane as someone else pointed out.
Other than Kane and Son do you have any players who've played in the champions league? Bentancur has a bit? Perisic?

I mean I disagree with anyone saying United has much of a chance at the CL as Bayern do, obviously not true until we start doing anything in the CL again...

But please, don't bring Spurs into this FFS

Odds are all well and good, until...they are not. All it means is that United are good value right now and Bayern aren't. They have a reasonable recent history, but that counts for nothing.

Mentioning Spurs is just comical.

I'm not saying Spurs are better or more likely. Far from it.

Just saying that experience means a lot and Bayern are loaded from top to bottom with it. It was more a comparison of how much people will sneer at Spurs but somehow are favoring United especially over the likes of a perennial contender like Bayern when Spurs and United have been about evens with CL qualification and CL progress this last decade or so.

But fair play I forgot about the Real Madrid lads.

It counts for a lot actually...I don't understand how you can throw out what they've done and who they have on staff and in the locker room so casually.

The fact is you've done absolutely nothing to be considered good value.

Yeah I don't disagree with most of it, was just on the Spurs point given the Madrid lads!

They have good players - so do we. They have a decent manager - so do we. There isn't much between the sides. Absolutely nothing to fear.

We clearly are good value because if the opportunity comes around, we will be very competitive against Bayern.

You’ve made one CL in 4 years.
How many players from a decade ago do you think you still have at the club?

He has two or three elite seasons left in him at most. Now is the time for him to grow a spine and leave for a chance to win trophies, if he has any ambition.

It would definitely be a risky move by Kane to come to OT. Although it's undeniable that United are on the up, we're not yet an elite club that can be favored to win a major trophy in 2024. Outside chance yes, but in no way a good bet to do so.

But that's what would make a move to OT spectacularly famous for Harry, that he could come to a club that is no one's favorite to lift either the PL or CL trophies...but that if we do both or even either (and still down the road break Shearer's record), his legend will live for all eternity.

Or he could wind down his career with Spurs.

Upamecano and de Ligt over Varane and Martinez is wild.

Coman is your best winger, Sane or Gnabry are meh, so I take Coman and Rashford.

Kimmich starts but I'd take Casemiro over Goretzka.

Mueller is past it, Bruno over him.

Shaw is probably better than Davies.

Bayern were lucky that BVB shat the bed, but their true level as shown in Europe is very poor.

The gulf in clubs is not that wide imo
Sorry for my belatedness, with the 5 post cap you sometimes just forget the forum for a few days.

Sommer/Neuer, though we seem to be losing Sommer, and you no longer have de gea, so this one is no longer fair with Neuer, or maybe Nübel (if we even get to keep him) vs Henderson.

Upamecano was perhaps our best defender for a good part of the season, and especially over the two games vs PSG in the CL. De light needs no introduction and was a lot more consistent. I see an intensity in martinez that I like, and I see an injury record from varane which I don't like. Would still have those two, and now with Kim in the mix I'm even more sure about keeping the defense. But people tend to remember upa for his feck-ups, which is somewhat understandable when its at the biggest stage.

I can see Casemiro over Goretzka, but we didn't always play with them as a duo in midfield as Goretzka was injured a bit and never really recovered. Kimmich can play anywhere, and I really would not mind him playing as a CDM, which he did at times to allow goretzka to be more offensive, or even musiala in a few games where him and müller had more of a free role with kimmich as sole holder. Thats what I liked about nagelsmann at times, it was risky but a lot of fun to watch the interchanging of positions in midfield.

Raumdeuter Müller is never past it, as shown whenever a new coach comes in and tries to take him out of the team. Kovac learned that the hard way.

Both injury prone, but I would never take Shaw over Davies. Just look at the infamous 8-2 win over barcelona what he can do offensively, and recoveries defensively (watch the entire game if you can, not just highlights, to see the defensive recoveries).

Wings I would rather have Sané and Gnabry, though rashford is very good and is probably the closest one and plays a CF way better than gnabry does when he was forced into that position.

And of course up top I would rather have Choupo-GOATing rather than Wout. Though we both are in dire need of a real striker.

Hope any of this makes sense, am fecking tired after a 12 hour shift.

Definitely not vs Henderson. It will be Onana.

Also, Weghorst doesn't play for us anymore. It will most likely be Højlund.

Many of the selections are very debatable. There is very little between the sides.

That's right, is that official now? Been a bit offline so not up to date on other teams transfers yet, thats for tomorrow to read about. Well I'd take Neuer over him for maybe one, potentially two more seasons at least.

Well if he doesn't then that's a free hit I guess, as we have choupo.

Onana is flying in for his medical pretty much as we speak. I probably wouldn't dispute it if you edged it 6-5. Nor would I rule us out of edging it 6-5.

Well, we are both biased, but there's no harm in having the conversation nonetheless. As I said, I see a lot I like in several of your players, and maybe my bias is also from watching my team every week, and yours only during the bigger games, and that shapes these opinions. Which I'm sure goes both ways.

In fairness, United have been pretty AWOL at the top table for much of the last decade so you could say that they have it all to prove. However man for man, I'd argue that they would be pretty competitive against most sides in Europe.

Will be interesting in the CL this year if neither of us manage to get in a real CF and we face eachother. I'm imagining a lot of side to side with no one to aim for in the box. I don't think any of our teams are "really" ready to play like city did without one. I'm hoping for Kane, even if I think, if given the chance, this could be Mathys Tels real breakout year. Doubt that will happen after all the debacle at the end of last season though, Uli and KHR will want results after that, then they can bring him in once we have it. 12 hour work and a cold one after gets me chatty, which is a good sign to get off the PC. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Surely the most obvious scenario is him staying this season and signing a pre-contract with Bayern in January? Can't see any other outcome to be honest.

If he stays I don't see him going to Bayern though. For an English player he'll fancy staying in England especially with his goal record. If united continue to rise I think an English player will fancy united over moving to Germany.

I'm going to be insufferably pedantic and say the odds might not be equal objectively even in abstract at this point in time because Bayern is in pot 1 for the draw while United is in pot 2. Draws can generate tricky groups but Bayern supposedly start with a leg up by design.
Subjectively I wouldn't rate United at Bayern's level this season either. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong (I'd take making it to the last 16 or 8 as a decent result.).

By all means, sign Kane if there's an opportunity to do so. I just don't think it's conceivable this summer unless there's £100m+ laying around we don't know of (not utterly impossible but not likely either). And even then I wonder if it wouldn't be smarter to spread those funds over 2 or 3 players.

Or Kane could say: "Either you sell me to United, or risk seeing me go for free to a London rival next summer and face the supporters wrath"

Think that might do the trick
I admire anyone who thinks Kane has the balls to say this to Levy much as those who think if we can make around £70m in sales we put with the Hojlund money and go all out after Spurs game.

No one in their right mind is going to spend 100m on a 30 year old with 10 months left on his contract.

It's a game of chicken, but I think Levy blinks and accepts a reasonable fee towards the end of the window.
Levy doesn't know the words reasonable fee but intrigued what figure you have in mind

If Levy thinks Kane is worth £100m for a season, no way they sell in Jan for those values.

They’ll still be in for European spots in January. If he’s there in September he’s there until June.

Yeah our best hope is him still being on the market in January to negotiate deal for summer,no chance in a million years that Levy will let him go in the middle of season despite how well we might be doing at that stage

Levy is an inept businessman that’s never paid less for a player than he should have, not received more for a player than the market decided.

He’s not some savant genius. He’s a capitalist ghoul that doesn’t give a feck about his football team and only about his football business.

Spurs fans know Kane wants to go. A known £80-100m could be spent wisely by Postecoglu in July and recouped by the Kane sale in August. That would benefit the team, manager, and fans. As it is… Levy will value balance sheet over teaperformance.

I’d love him here. But Bayern can offer him an absolute fortune in January. I suspect he’ll sign for them then. Levy loses £100m. People will regard him as some titan of the game as Spurs finish 6th.

He’s a cancer on that football clubs on pitch aspirations. He’s a PR savvy Woodward.

Only overseas clubs can sign him on a pre contract in Jan. We can’t.

Now we resigned Jonny Evans on a short-term deal, should we keep Maguire at United as another CF option if he refuses to leave?

min a week we seen Declan Rice goes for £105m anything less than £150m for Kane is a fecking joke. At the end of the day Kane didn’t cost us anything transfer wise and we certainly got our moneys worth wages wise.
There's something called age. No player in their 30s is worth 100m let alone 150m. Kane will be 30 years in a month and will have very little resale value, if anything. There may be non footballing reasons for such crazy valuations - brand, oil, new owners etc, but to ask 150m for a 30-year-old Kane is outright ridiculous. If he weren't English, he would've probably been valued at 80m.

He has only like 3/4 good years left he shouldn't waste another year at Spurs. United should really go for him, something like 60/70 million would be fair for a striker of that level and age.
