Havertz - just don't see it at all, he is rather average to me

Rice - he is a solid DM for midtable team, but that's about it, there's no way he worths anything near his price tag.

Depends how you define flop compared to expectations.

Rice is average, Havertz is average so Arsenal seem to have downgraded.

Many people expecting Poch to get Chelsea into top 4/5 - this I very much doubt - so I'll go with Poch and give myself a bonus if they finish in the Europa Conference League place in the PL.

Tonali. He won’t settle and didn’t want to move in the first place.

Mount for us. An overrated steady Eddy. Rice for Arsenal. A pashun merchant.

Many people? I don't see that anywhere. In fact I see more people, including Chelsea "fans" ridiculing our transfer activities about selling our "best players" to rival and how we are going to struggle to move from 12th to 10th this season. I've not heard a single pundit slating us for a solid top 4 position and certainly won't make many's usual top 4 predictions before the league starts.
I really don't see where many are expecting Pochetino to make top 4. Most Chelsea fans themselves aren't even expecting it.

I hate to say it, and I don't think that it will be totally accurate, buti can imagine all of our new signings thus far being called flops all season. Mount isn't exciting so unless we're doing amazingly well, he'll be called a flop. Onana every time he takes a risk that doesn't pay off will be called a flop and compared to the retrospectively perfect De Gea. Finally every time Hojlund isn't Haaland or makes the slightest mistake that any 20 year old who's new to the league might make, he'll be labelled a flop.

I just hope they'll be able to take the heat, because the knives are already being sharpened.
I think its actually the opposite of your Mount claim. Mount is English so he would need to be really bad to be labeled a flop.

Onana will be the highest risk of having people go against him i think. Already Yorke was quoted that Onana isnt as good as de Gea. A pundit criticized Onana because he shouted at Maguire. Imagine the criticism when Onana actually makes a mistake?

Rasmus Hojlund is going to have to pray Haaland does not outscore him by more than 10 goals to have any hope of not being labeled a flop. I mean I've not seen a transfer more setup to fail since Torres's move to Chelsea. Everything about this move looks like a perfect media milk factory script.

To be considered a flop you have to disappoint expectations. Do people really expect something from Havertz and why is that?
What is a flop? Havertz is an expensive transfer for Arsenal. If he produces the same performance as he did with Chelsea, he is overpriced, but his performance is not unexpected. Same for Rice.

Tonali. Has been poor in pre season apparently and clearly doesn’t want to be there.

Must not have been watching chelsea pre season game. They are the only top team in the premier league that has been playing like a top football team and not struggling. Moreover, this is without even making any big signings yet.

On topic, I will say Arsenal. I would have said Manchester united, but we bought well this summer. I see us exceeding expectation this season. On the other hand, Arsenal has bought poorly with regards to squad balancing issues. Brighton and Newcastle may also not be as competitive and Spurs may also struggle.

Just because he's Italian doesn't mean he doesn't want to be playing outside of Italy and will join the long list of Italian PL flops.

No interest in watching Chelsea, pre season or otherwise.

Poch will be gone by Christmas.

If you watch, you would wish we would have gotten Pochettino over ten hag. The work he has done there in the short amount of time is remarkable. He has not only fixed their attacking, but their defense and they are playing as a cohesive unit in pre season so far. Of course pre season is different, than a competitive league match, but if those performances can transfer over to the league, there is more chance that pep will be gone before Pochettino. Of course things are not perfect yet and these young players need time to develop and mature, but things has looked positive so far

He didn't want to leave though. Milan forced him out because they needed money. There was a clip of him being shown around the training ground and he says it was bigger in Milan

Another vote for Havertz.
Also 1 United signing will probably flop / underwhelm. Don’t think it will be the young striker as I believe he will work hard and at least score some goals. So it’s between Onana and Mount.

Look at these United "fans" guessing Højlund. I bet you get a semi thinking about him missing a chance, so you can say you were right.

I'm gonna go for Nicolas Jackson

Haaland. Well not a flop but I can't see him replicating what he did last season. I hope so anyway. Who am I kidding.

The famously parsimonious Todd Boehly project...

What's Nkunku, chopped liver? Also, this horrendously expensive and recently assembled Chelsea team might as well be summer signings, given that they spent the last few months playing under Lampard. Any decent coach would have made them look half-competent after a month's coaching. That doesn't mean they're going to flop, but it helps that they're starting from a lower baseline of expectations ...

James Maddison. He's one of those players who looks brilliant if you only see the highlights. Eventually people will get tired of his 'pick the ball up, shoot from long range, watch it go miles over the bar for a goal kick' routine.

:houllier: if they watched Chelsea in preseason, they would have wished we got Pochettino over ten Hag? What? Absolute headcase.

He'll probably be back there on loan next year.

He'll be looking for a new job in January.

Van Dijk is already done.
He won’t recover anything like his best form which was protected by a lot of legs in midfield.
He’ll continue the passive backing off and letting players past him.
He’ll have to do exceedingly poorly to fail to meet some very low expectations.
Mount - perhaps, hope he doesn’t clash with Bruno’s positions but I think he’ll do ok.

Not sure on Mount tbh. More on defined role in team.

If you play him as an 8 I don't think he has Eriksen's vision to play quick forward passes, number 10 isn't much of an option as that nullifies Fernandes and so out wide and he'll probably do o.k but no more than that.

He has cost 60m and is an established top level player these days so think reality will fall a bit short of expectation with him.

TBH I think Mount will turn out to be one of our most important players this coming season, there's a reason EtH made him a priority

Liverpool have just made Van Dijk their new captain, so he can still fail in that important role too ;)

I knew my man Havertz would get most of the votes. Snuck 2 goals in already in pre season playing deeper but you all got to hate on him!

Havertz will score enough goals at the back post to mask his overall performances and prevent him from being a flop.

My vote goes to Tonali, or Vlahovic if we sign him.

Declan Rice but I think he will be protected a lot in the media because he's of the English star boys under Southgate that can't do wrong. Any half decent performance he puts in will be overhyped.
