He always wanted London because of his girlfriend. Downed tools at Brighton. Accepted offer from Liverpool. Then a few hours later declined Liverpool choosing to play for a club owned by Boehly.

Imagine our £110m signing acting the cnut in 12 months at Liverpool and we couldn't even sell him for £60m. Best that he ends up where he deserves to be.
have the club shop let you cancel your shirt order?

If you are Southampton and now know the scousers have £111m lying around, I'm not sure a £49.1943m bid for Lavia will cut it.

Except Fred's passing stats are awful in comparison.
I was mostly just saying YouTube compilations are a bad metric.

But re your point, not really. Last season Fred's passing stats fell off (probably cause he was playing a more advanced role). The previous 4 seasons he's been here his passing stats were very comparable to Caicedo who just has marginally higher passing accuracy (to be expected given the style of play).

Saying they are awful in comparison is patently untrue.

From Fbref

Caicedo last season per 90 -

Passes: 65.41
Pass Accuracy: 88.6%
Progressive Passes: 6.41

Fred average per 90 the previous 4 seasons -

Passes: 67.49
Pass Accuracy: 85.22%
Progressive Passes: 6.53.

Pretty comparable really.

To shatter the British transfer record only to be rejected by the player has got to be one of the embarrassing moments I've seen, and I've seen a fair few from my club.

Klopp's pull is finished. All that heavy metal gengenpressing bullshit not enticing any more - players look at them and don't see an upward trajectory

Everyone can go back to he's decent but not amazing now he's going to Chelsea!
Indeed. Lavia, though, if transferred to Liverpool, is going to become the best midfield prospect since Xavi.

Brutal. Must be people at the club hanging their heads in shame after this.

Tbh Boehly does seem like the type of guy not willing to accept defeat and left with egg on his face.
By now, it's hard to tell what looks worse: haggling all summer and losing the player because you wouldn't pay the asking? Or: overpaying now at the last minute because your hubris backfired so badly you'll look like a laughing stock?

Stuck between a rock and a hard place there.

Did the thick cnuts check to see if he was interested before they bid?

Not everyone wants to suffer Liverpool and that cnut Klopp.

What makes this even more embarrassing is that Klopp couldn't keep his mouth shut until the deal was done.
