If you didn't watch Lost at the time it was released you just wouldn't get it.
I still remember end of season 1 when they found Desmond (brother) bunker and I was so fecking excited for season 2. Also remember being terrified of the black smoke. And then watching the crazy hut scene (can't remember which season) frame by frame to find a glimpse of Jacob etc... So many great memories.

But it did become a convoluted mess. There was a season (during the writer's strike I think) when it was split into two halves and my cousin watched the two halves in the wrong order and it still made sense to him

Yeah but now we're talking 10-15 series, 300+ episodes, of putrid slop. 15m avg viewers in 2001 to 1.5m in 2023.
Yeah but a lot of people's votes have been for like one good season of a show. See True Detective, Prison Break, etc..

At least The Simpsons had about 9 or 10 good seasons before it lost it. It's iconic and people still reference so much from it to this day.

I'm trying to convince my partner to watch it with me but I'm worried it won't have aged as well as I hope

1-2 are still class. 3 too if you ignore the tattoo episode. My other half loved watching it as she wasn't aware of the final seasons' reputation.

Prison Break is getting annihilated so far. 21 points from 25 votes.

I watched it at the time and gave up in season 2. Started watching it again and caught up for the last season but i was treating it as a silly, soap opera, guilty pleasure watch at that point.

It made it far enough to be voted on, thats something. Even people who like it seem to agree it was dogshit past the first season.

The final 4 groups will be tough. I reckon most of the following remain: Sopranos, Succession, Mr. Robot, Black Mirror, Rome, Game of Thrones, Curb Your Enthusiasm, IASIP, The Office, The Office UK, Scrubs.

The Simpsons benefits from the type of show it is. It's not like Game of thrones, where the disappointing final seasons detracts from the whole, because the Simpsons is not one long story that needs to be followed from start to finish.

Plus, few shows have had the cultural impact that the Simpsons had.

Couldn't stand Breaking Bad, had it's moments but hated most of the characters.
I totally gave up on it about season 4 for pretty much that reason. Forced myself to watch the rest years after because of people raving about the end. Which did redeem the show a lot for me.

I almost gave up on it in season 4 too, about half-way through. I'd watched it from the day it premiered and loved the first couple of seasons but found most of 3 & 4 to be a snooze-fest. For me, the Gus Fring story wasn't interesting enough to take up two whole seasons. It picked up towards the end of season 4, and I enjoyed season 5, but it's overrated I think.

I still can't get over how bad Fring's death scene was though. It was so ridiculous that I laughed out loud

We should all get a -5 point veto for one of the shows in the two groups.
Chance would be a fine thing... a fine thing indeed.

Group 5 is an easy one for me as I haven't seen Twin Peaks (I know, I know) or Battlestar Galactica.

Group 5:

1. The Simpsons
2. Peep Show
3. Lost

Group 6:

1. Breaking Bad
2. Prison Break
3. Futurama

no-one in particular
I watched it at the time and gave up in season 2.
Same.

Watched Ep1 of Band of Brothers yesterday since it scored so well here, must have been one of the worst first episodes of a great show in existence (assuming it really is a great series).

Very tough to separate these shows for me. Love them all. Haven't seen the other three.

And I'm all out of bubblegum.
How have so many of you not even seen Battlestar Galactica? Very disappointed in you. If you don't actively hate sci-fi you owe it to yourself to watch it.
