Round 3 is complete.

Community and Deadwood were tied on 84 points each. I went to Round 1 to see which got more votes as a tie-breaker and they were again tied at 11 votes a piece. Then went to iMDB and that's what broke the tie with Community on 8.5 and Deadwood on 8.6.

Here's how it will work:

Each group has 5 TV shows selected at random.

List your top 5 from each group (1st = 5 points, 2nd = 4 points, 3rd = 3 points, 4th = 2 points, 5th = 1 point).

You do not have to vote 5 shows. If you don't vote 5 shows, the scoring will be adjusted to reflect this. For example, if you only list 3 shows, the scoring will be (1st = 3 points, 2nd = 2 points, 3rd = 1 point).

The top 2 will automatically make the finals.

3rd place will go into the knockouts round as a top seed, starting with +5 points.

4th place will go into the knockouts round as a bottom seed starting with 0 points.

5th place will be eliminated.

Each Monday, I will set up a new round for the contest and the voting closes at 11.59pm Friday (PLEASE stick to this, don't make me miss out on time with my children on the weekends ).

At the opening post of each round, I will put in the results from the previous round and start the voting of the current round.

In the event of a tie, I will first refer to how many picks they got in the first round then if still a tie, I will refer to their iMDB scores.

If you have voted, then want to change your vote, please quote your old post and write your new list and let me know by tagging me, otherwise I may miss your vote by accident.

I did originally consider seeding the 5 shows in each group but then realized it would have been a bit bland. We're trying to figure out the cafe's favourite shows and have a bit of fun. Imagine I seeded it, a group would have looked like this (1 being top seed, 2 being second seed etc).

Yeah, this was more a throwaway comment rather a real complaint.

Thank you for the suggestions though so will keep in mind for future ones.

A poll for each matchup? Make the scores more public? Lead to more tactical voting? Alto is the agent of destruction I see....

To be fair, pretty much every group so far has had at least one highly acclaimed and popular show. The Wire, Breaking Bad, Band of Brothers, Madmen and South Park have all been in different groups.

Lost and Stranger Things 2 of the biggest steaming turd overhyped shows ever. Prison Break also a one season wonder like True Detective, but unlike TD the rest of it makes the first season seem utterly pointless.

I think Lost and Stranger Things both had excellent first seasons then just became worse the more they explained. Prison Break was the same but I also enjoyed season 2, really liked the Mahone character.

I'm surprised by this. Twin Peaks scored really really highly in the first round. It was one of the top shows.

Its so hard to rate and my mind would change on it daily. You'd get whiplash going from season 1 to season 3. Simpsons i've grown to not give a shit about in the slightest but there was a great period.
