So is Rob to be fair. I don't see anything wrong with what he's said to be honest, seems like he's trying to make light of the situation.
I agree. He is just trying to make some fun out of it. But the fact that the kid is getting lots and lots of abuse makes that joke somewhat misplaced at the moment.

That's fair - a statement from Wrexham about the abuse would be good. I'm just a bit disappointed by our club briefing solely our upset at their manager's remarks. Came across as overly defensive when Mullin was the one in hospital.

But, yeah, but of a weird one all things considered.

Mac coming in hot...

This is fine, don’t see why anyone would get annoyed about it. Also he’s monetising the thousands of apparently livid United fans who will blow that tweet up.

To be fair it only happened three days ago. I think they're well within their rights to make references to the incident. It's also worth pointing out that he only mentions the rib injury - if he was really wanting to be a dick he would say something about pierced lungs.

Let's not forget that months on there's still a lot of people here who want Andy Carroll marched through the streets naked and pelted with rotten fruit. One of our players fecked up and injured one of theirs, and we should accept that.
That’s true about Carroll, I do remember that! But fans in hysterics on a forum is a world away from people representing the club. They are touring the US now and playing PL sides in glamour games. Your manager can’t be threatening opposition players and owners need to be careful what they say.

Probably a good signing for them. Adds a wealth of experience to the team. £250k fee.

Welcome to the football league Wrexham,

Mind the gap! There's a massive divide between the leagues and non league, it will be more difficult than they think to progress.
Obviously early days and MK Dons are always strong in that league but it's a tough start none the less

The gap between the national league and League 2 isn't actually that big at all really. More often than not, the teams that get promoted to League 2 don't get relegated in their first year.

There's a massive divide, only two go down so recently that's been teams struggling for money so the promoted teams have been lucky in that regards.

Won't always be the case, not saying Wrexham will go down, they are too good and rich for that, but it's no where as easy as everyone is thinking for them in the League structure.

To be honest, Wrexham was much better in that game.

Most league two teams are struggling financially. The gap between the bottom half of League Two and top half of the National League is minimal. The fact only two teams go up and down makes the gap smaller not wider - good teams have less chance of promotion, and bad teams have more chance of avoiding relegation.

Based on what though? Surely if the divide actually was "massive" we'd see them going back down as frequently as teams go back down to the Championship, but its just not the case.

As I already said, most teams in the last few seasons that have dropped out of the league have done so because of financial issues,

Interesting to note Notts County for thrashed today, and yes there was a red card but they were one down already at that point.

Point being, the divide is bigger than people think.

look at the stats....they dominated possession and almost 3 to 1 in shot attempts

i think they'll be mid table this year which won't be terrible especially if they don't have Mullin for the first two months

Playing some very good football too. Wigan was outplayed for most of the match and Wrexham could've won it in regular time if they finished a couple of very good chances they had.

agreed....they missed two or three absolute sitters in this match

it's a really solid 532 that they play...very organized defensively and good on the break even without Mullin

Im not sure there is. Bottom 5 of League Two is absolutely awful. National League is almost essentially a League Three now.

Wrexham and Notts County will both be comfortably top half once they get going.

Ther s a divide in the league for sure, that's down to money and some clubs having a lot and some having nothing.
But the gap between non league and the league is still pretty big, famous last words and all that but I don't see Wrexham or Notts County finishing top half.

To be fair to Maloney, he made four changes to his strongest team, two of those being academy products and the other two being new signings.

Wigan dominated possession but looked like a new team, which is understandable given the changes they had made.

It's not that big of a gap. There's plenty of National League teams who outbid League 2, even League 1 sides for players. Wrexham have been throwing money at League 1 players for a couple of years and have the squad to show for it, there's really no excuse to not make the play-offs at least.

National League champions have almost always finished top half in League 2 in the last years, to be fair. It gets hard from there on though. Salford have been stuck for a while in that upper midtable group.

Indeed they did. Wrexham had 20 attempts on goal to their 7, including 2 near sitters for Wrexham.

Wrexham dominated the chance creation. Wigan, the possession percentages.

I don't think it's that big a gap. Can't bothered going back further, but 6 out of the last 12 promoted teams finished top half. Throw in the fact that both these clubs have some of the biggest fan bases in the division I'd say at least one of them probably will on the balance of probabilities.

Thought there wasn't much of a gap in between the league structures.... :nervous:

Another 4 goals conceded before half time....going to be a big turn around to get anything from this game.

Maybe this sudden rise through the leagues won't manifest. Perhaps this season will be more staying in the league than going up.

We did a number on them by injuring their best striker

He wouldn't prevent them letting in eight goals in two games.

On paper no but having your best players on the pitch always changes the psychology of the match.

I imagine teams are less fearful with him out, these small things can improve confidence

Or Wrexham jinxed themselves after their whining when he got injured.

Or they are just finding the step into the league structure harder than they first thought?

Plenty of time for them to get used to it and improve, but letting in goals for fun is a difficult rut to get out of without affecting the attacking side of the game.

It's a massive step up from non league is League 2, Wrexham are finding that out now, they very rarely lose at home, let alone get turned over, yet that's 11 goals in two and a half home league games so far.

Definately the place to be today it seems. Two goals after half time and so Wrexham in ascendancy trying to claw things back at 3-4

Wrexham conceded 4 goals from 4 shots in the first half.

In their first game they conceded 5 goals from 6 shots on target.

This is obviously a case of two very unusual games not reflecting anything to do with how well Wrexham have played in general.

They have 20 shots on goal to Swindon's 6.
