Some of these (tweet quote) posts are really silly, rather immature really. And don't really tell anybody, anything at all.
That's Luckhurst's shtick. Be a sarcastic knob who thinks he knows better then every manager and coach at the club.

I don't think we'll sign Amrabat. But the nonsense in that article isn't needed.

Why would you want him when u have Casemiro? The Caf if so wierd. Clearly after our match u need a ball carrying box to box player. You guys chase names instead oh actual individuals.
We have no one to replace or partner Casemiro in a deeper role.

What do you mean by the bold?

What does this even mean ?
It was Murtough apparently. Amrabat’s name was mentioned and he put his finger up and said “back in 1 min”. Came out with an A4 piece of paper he had just printed a picture of Amrabat on and like a magician proceeded to scrunch it through his fingers. When he unraveled it again, sure enough it was just his face that was scrunched. Equal parts remarkable and bizarre.

I get it's probably "a person frowned at the mention of his name" and not "Murtough beat that person up with face punches".
Maybe all the Amrabat talk was just media spinning wheels after some contact / inquiry a while ago, we'll never know...

You remember when clubs used to have only 1 player for 1 position? Yeah, me neither.

But our midfield hasn't been getting obliterated because 'Casemiro doesn't have a back up'. Our first choice midfield is what's taking the battering.

Definition of "Screwing up face" when checking on google:

What does screw up your face mean?

phrasal verb. screw your eyes/face up. to pull the muscles of your eyes or face tight because the light is too strong, you are in pain, etc. He took a sip of the medicine and screwed up his face.
"Amrabat"
"Ahhhhh!"

Hence you buy someone like amrabat to help out casemiro and admit that trying to get two 10s to play as two 8s (Mount and Bruno), doesnt work.

If you want a player to help you retain possession and recycle the ball, amrabat is a good option. As others have said, a morrocan micheal carrick.

He makes a decent point. Either we don't want him or we are skint.
Or it's FFP issue. It is reasonable to assume that after spending ~£150m net that we might need to sell before we buy for financial reasons. Either because we're skint or because of FFP.

We need both types of players. We're up shit creek if Casemiro gets injured or suspended.

Heard this story before. It doesn’t actually indicate anything. But clearly we are after midfielders. Who is number 1 I wouldn’t be as confident as many that it is Amrabat.

Sure, but it's quite likely he believes that's more an issue with early season form/gelling/fitness. Like last season. ETH has played this way (1 DM + 2 #8s/#10s) at Ajax and here last season. He bought Eriksen to be the 3rd player in the Case, Eriksen, Bruno midfield and people were saying the exact same stuff in the first games of last season.

I don't think he's going for Amrabat to be a starter, basically. He probably expects the current starters to improve their form. Amrabat is likely a Case cover as well as a plan B for games, when he wants more ball control in midfield.

PS. I think our biggest problem has been the midfield so far, but more so the attack. The current triplet is clueless and offers no goal threat. Yes we don't keep the ball, but I don't think he cares about the possession so much.

Tis a shame but whilst I don't like Luckhurst's style of reporting I agree that if we were going to buy him it would have been done by now. With the 3 signings we've made this summer it always felt like they were going to happen from the reports and who was reporting it.

This feels more like the Kim Min-Jae stories where some of the local Italian reports just keep pushing the story but there is nothing really behind it.

Like I said it's a shame because the little I have seen of him suggests he could do a good job for us. He links up play in the first third phase of play and is also a warrior. We are currently so easy to play against through the middle and this guy could really help with that.

Never been anything in this one..other than some noise from the player side.

If we're skint/held back due to FFP, it's the opposite of a decent point as we literally can't sign him... If Mctominay had been sold or Donny already left - then yeah, fair enough.

You can taste Samuel's standard sarky tone.

Rangnick did absolutely nothing except being a rent a quote and was all about protecting himself and his image when he left. As a manager he was disastrous and apparently, according to his PR, he recommended about 15 players. Cant believe people fell for his open heart surgery stuff. Should have been a politician.
Yeah he was a myth. His comments about open heart surgery and needing upto 10/11 players was nonsense. We added just 4 key players to the starting lineup and finished 3rd playing much better football. It just needed a coach who knew what he was doing.

Really hoping this isn't the midfield signing, and a Casemiro like target will come out of nowhere. We've enough squad players.

I really hope he is it, he'll be a really solid signing that will surprise a lot of people.

We’re currently restricted in what we can spend in the market, we can’t go out and buy a top class midfielder right now. That opportunity went when we decided to spend the money on Mount instead. We have to look at cheaper options.

How is it 21st of August and van de Beek still hasn't been moved on?
Because Sociedad got the offer and read that they would have to pay for Donny. Probably assumed we were going to pay them to take him.

Haven't you heard. ETH is clueless compared to a management giant like De Zerbi and is on thin ice because we've struggled for 2 games.

The more this goes on, the clearer it becomes that this is the players agent driving the story and using United’s name to get his player publicity.
