Loans are actually quite expensive FFP wise because you can’t amortise the fee over 5 years. 4m for Cucurella and the same for Amrabat would be the equivalent of a 40m fee on a 5 year deal on this years books. Plus the 200k plus wages combined. And we want an attacker on loan too supposedly so I can see why we’re haggling.
But surely on the books it'll just appear as 4m for this year and thats it? As we're not keeping him for 5 years so for us its a 1 year deal at £4m.

Signed so much shite for a crazy inflated fee and high wage over the years that we can’t shift them to bring in extra funds to comply with FFP rules, making it impossible now to even make a late panic buy for a bang average player and repeat the cycle.

Top work from the brilliant men who are running the biggest club in the country.

Very good point.

If we want him, we should make an offer to buy. It’s annoying that Forest made a chunky offer for him.

Stinks of a classic United signing. Player who barely anyone wants, last few days of the window, loan move (due to supposed financial situation) and we've managed to make a joke out of it with this 1m installment stuff.

We’ve made a 2m loan bid with a break clause in January meaning we can cancel it and only pay the 1m. I’m still not convinced we want him all that much…
Makes sense. Let’s try get a player we don’t want.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Yes. But we don’t know how much FFP wiggle room there is for this years books. 3 4m plus 3 high wage loans is more expensive in FFP terms this year than a 60m transfer on 300k a week.

How about don't sign fecking Cucurella or Bayindir and ride it out with Dalot and Fernandez or whoever else we have in the reserves at LB and give a youth GK a chance as number 2. That's £11m created in a flash. What a clownshow.
Fernandez hasn't ever shown the ability to play fullback (not wingback) at a good enough level and has always been vulnerable defensively, which would create even more problems in defensive transition. It was the correct move to sign a more established player in a position which is extremely important from a tactical pov.

And you don't have youth/reserve keepers sitting on the bench as back up players when they need games for their own development.

Most corporates offer loans / advance salary to their employees. Maybe we can do the opposite and ask our top earners for a few million as a loan to pay the fee for this erm loan, given we can’t even afford to pay that now?

The plan is to play with one 6 and two 8's. We have two players for the 6 position (3 if we include McTominay). What is the point in signing a 4th?
Because that plan has already gone out the window. Casemiro is old, already looks knackered and we're not even into September. Eriksen gets routinely embarrassed and bypassed like he's not even there in high level games. And McTominay is pure shite.

You want to rely on a youth goalie for 5-6 weeks when Onana is with the AFCON.

Not for me clive!

That bid was embarrassing, should've just not bothered at all than to send that. Fiorentina must be furious, we've basically spent all window unsettling a player only to offer them peanuts.

Because McTominay has no business playing in that role, and who is the other player you are referring to? Eriksen, Mainoo?

This was a clown show when they actually had money. How did anyone expect it would be any better when working with a tight budget? Why even spend what they did for Mount when Chelsea had to give away players to trim their squad? Plus you know well and true that he was a luxury with Bruno in the team. Jesus wept.

We are trolling everyone in this window and I am 100% here for it. Nobody will be jacking up their prices on us in future, when United come calling they will send the kitman out to see if they have any spare training cones they can donate to us.

Yeah I’m pretty shocked by that. The idea they would even consider it is ludicrous. Every single person in the world can see that, including the guys at Utd who put the offer forward. So you have to ask: what the feck is going on?

I'd agree with you, accept we spunked £55m on Mason Mount, an man who would literally have been free in a year.

Even moreso as we watch City sign Nunes for £13m less.
yeah i just dont get the prices we get quoted for vs other teams. Even ones like city who everyone knows has a shitton of money seem to get quoted for less. I would say the only other club i see who get quoted higher prices would be chelsea as they seemingly buy everyone for high prices.

It hasn't though. You just don't like the plan, based on two games with our first choice midfield, one of which we won. You being impatient with the plan doesn't change the fact that it is and will continue to be the plan.

However, that doesn't mean we couldn't do with better quality depth in that deeper midfield position, or the option to set up in different ways for different games or even in different phases of games. Both of which Amrabat would help with.

That's a real embarrassing offer. I can imagine the genius being satisfied with coming up with this and the Italians just laughing at it. How the mighty have fallen. Who hires these people?

No! I read on Twitter we absolutely want him. It must be true. Embarrassing we haven’t signed a player we could easily have signed if we wanted to at any point in the last 3 months.
You mean if we weren’t totally broke like last Jan?

Hopefully sarcasm…..
Well they certainly don’t prevent us from spending the money on Amrabat.

That we have burned through so much money, putting us in a difficult position FFP wise is another thing but the incompetence at our club is so deep it is far from certain new owners would really solve anything here.

I don't rate McTominay at all, but that is clearly his role in ten Hag's mind. Mainoo is the other one.
Mainoo is 18 and injured.

If we do somehow sign Amrabat the season will develop with this system:

Casemiro (Mainoo) - Amrabat (Eriksen)
Bruno (Mount)
Doesnt matter how much Erik wants to play with two number 10s, its not going to work and he'll be forced to stop it less risk losing his job by November. At best it'll only be trotted out during home games against the Bournemouths and Sheffield Uniteds (and cost us points in the process).

Of course it does. They are the ones putting clowns like Ed Woodward in positions of power that allow him to burn through money like it’s going out of fashion, making bad signing after bad signing and sanctioning crazy contracts for these players which ultimately affects our ability to sell them for decent fees down the line, which has a direct impact on FFP. Not to mention the Glazers have the final say on all of this and ok’ed it at the time. Now we’re suffering for it right when it seems like we’ve finally got the right manager worth backing.
We have backed him very heavily. It was his choice to spend all the money on the players he picked. Few managers get to spend as much as he has in his two years here.
