If we were a properly run club this is the type of player we should be signing, he is a generational talent, Imagine a midfield of Casemiro, Bellingham, and Bruno, unbelievable, thanks for everything Avram....
That midfield sticks out like a sore thumb.

Bruno is a bad player tactical wise, he loose too much ball for proper player like Bellingham to work with. And Casemiro would be entering soon to retire next year.

How is it a hard act? Bale was good but he was hardly what everyone expected him to be when he first made the move. He should end up being the best British player when it’s all said and done.
Have you ever played football before? If you have then surely you can appreciate how difficult some of the shit he did was.
Did you not see what he did against inter Milan when playing for spurs?
I remember watching him playing against us in 09 or 2010 I think, at OT. I was in the south stand and he was a left back at that point. He stood out straight away. His physicality alone was there to be seen but his left foot was lethal, from dribbling or crossing or just keeping hold of the ball. But he didnt have many opportunities to shoot.

When he evolved into a winger and then a CAM did we all see how lethal he was when it came to shooting.

He was a freak of nature. At his very best he was singlehandedly capable of scoring a goal out of nothing.

Agree my opinion might be unpopular but peak Bale was even better than the Madrid CR, at least on par with.

It sounds absurd but I do kinda agree. Bale did things that only a handful of players past and present could do. His career won't be regarded anywhere near Messi or C Ronaldos and rightfully so, but in terms of the highest level solo performances, he is alongside Messi.

It's annoying how many of Madrids big signings hit the ground running and are consistently world class. Yet the mojority of our big signings are useless. Sancho looked great for Dortmund just as Bellingham did, but look at the difference. What's going on? Is there a culture at United that breeds laziness and saps confidence? Are our coaches that bad?

Don't forget that Bellingham himself is also a player that tends to play quite risky. That free role far up front suits his style well, but playing him and Bruno together would mean losing far more balls then Casemiro could ever win back.
Sancho is brilliantly talented and what he did in Germany is far too often invalidated by some.

I do think that their personalities make a lot of the difference though. For lack of a better expression I think Bellingham has the attitude of showing up anywhere and slamming his nuts on a table and wanting to make himself the main man. I think Jadon has lacked a bit of that so far here.
I couldn't agree more. Bellingham always appeared to be quite driven while Sancho needed to be managed well to perform. That never happened at United for whatever reason

Good post, very interesting and important point. It is about the culture within the club. Post SAF we have lost focus, ambition and authority from both the executive and on the pitch.

Real Madrid (think Bayern too) do not tolerate poor standards within the club. They expect and demand the best. We have stopped doing that and you can see that over the years. Player's join us and just take the p***. Look at Jones, Martial, Sanchez, Lukaku etc.. it wouldn't happen at Real or Bayern, no way. Madrid have Butragueno, a club legend overseeing many big decisions at the club, he is the external face of Real. Bayern have Karl-Heinz Ruminigger, another absolute club legend. We should have the same, those people don't tolerate falling standards.

An additional concern is that some of our fans seem to have also dropped levels of expectations, suggesting average players are now good players.

Man United need to recapture that unforgiving, clinical, demanding, belligerent character that personified in players.. Hughes, Bruce, Ince, Evra, Eric, Giggs, Scholes, CR7, Teddy, Cole..I could go on and on and on. Alll had a definite edge to their game...

During the last three seasons Dortmund sold three exciting young players for huge fees. Bellingham and Haaland impressed after their moves, only Sancho did not.

Two of those three appeared to be super motivated and eager to becomd the best, one has always been a bit unprofessional and occasionally had trouble with disciplinary actions against him.

Guess which one was signed by United.

Should hire Roy Keane as the standards maintenance man.

I think this is true but another aspect is that City and Madrid did their tactical homework and played the player to his strengths. Ancelotti changed the system to a 4-4-2 diamond to play Bellingham in a free role behind the strikers. I'd say they use Bellingham even better than Dortmund did. Pep had his team play a lot more vertical and allowed Haaland to focus completely on what he's best at: Getting in behind and score.

United.. well, they signed a player who excelled at either RAM in a 3-4-2-1 with a very attacking right back besides him or a playmaking LW in a 4-3-3. In both roles he was best between the lines but somehow United expected him to play like a traditional winger who takes on his fullback and beats him with athleticism. As if.they never saw him play before.

Thank God, he didn't go to Liverpool. I reckon us stopping them from getting CL football played a part in that although it's very hard to say no to Madrid.
Was thinking of this the other day... the nightmare if he plays for Pool...

It's about the character of the player. Haaland has joined a v v v successful team, and made them better, in every way. Bellingham the same.

As a previous post suggests, now look at Sancho. I think it's disgraceful.

I'll never forgive Ole for how he damaged this club. Never.

Genuinely made me laugh out loud.

How did those 2 appear to you to be super motivated and eager to become the best?

How has Sancho always been a bit unprofessional and had trouble with disciplinary actions against him?

It appears that you know these lads on a personal level because if not then you are talking absolute balls.

He's really benefited from that diamond formation.

Big goals as well, the Madrid fans are already singing his name and we all know that isn't something that just happens.
Gonna be one of the best midfielders for years. I’m actually glad he’s English though so we’ve got him for tournaments. Im also glad scousers didn’t sign him.

They're singing "Hey Jude" by the Beatles. It's always fun to go "na na na na...."

If his name was Norman or Gavin they'd be silent.
I don't know, singing "na na na na na na na" to the tune of Baby Give it Up by KC and the Sunshine Band is equally fun, they could fit his name in there.

He's really kicked on this season. Never knew he had it in him to be such a complete midfielder at such a young age. I know this may sound weird but at times he gives me Gascoigne vibes.

From recent memory, there a few players I knew were a sure thing the first couple of times I saw them play, him, Haaland, De Ligt (and now Ferguson). They just play with no fear, they're amazing to watch. Not sure what happened to De Ligt but he looked like prime Beckenbauer at Ajax.

Yeah madrid comes across as absolutely ruthless in how they treat players not living up to expectations - especially their fans.

Meaning generally only a player with a certain mentality will survive there anyway. Seemingly the Sancho’s and Martial’s would crumble under those conditions.

I wonder whether he will make it back to the Premier league in his prime. Could be quite interesting if the premier league stays as strong as it is and a big prem team comes in for him in 4/5 years.

I wonder how the club would be run and perform on the pitch if plebs like us were put in charge of bringing about change? All these points above seem completely doable...

Surely, together, we could brainstorm changes? Obviously many would argue, quite rightly, that we don't have a feckin clue. But is it really that hard to change the course of a club with a bit of sensibility?

He would be competition for Bruno rather than playing with him, similar problem we have with Mount.

Not really anything like him, way more technical and skilled.
You are really selling Gerrard short , it's not even clear Bellingham is more technical or skilled than Him let alone way more which is absolute nonsense .

Has he turned into a second striker or something? What's that now, 5 goals in 4 games?
He gets into advanced positions but I think the main key to understand why he has had such a big contribution at this point is because of two main reasons. The first one is that he has developed a great intuition to get into the right areas of the pitch at the right time. The second one, which is not completely unrelated, is that he seems very alert, very woke in all his actions.

As an example, before Lucas Vazquez's shot (2:19 in the video below) vs Getafe, Bellingham has six Real Madrid players in front of him, but he has started running already towards the key area from which he would score later. Maybe because he expected to receive the ball there from Lucas or because he thought he could do something else there later, it does not matter, the outcome is that he delivers.

Or in this goal vs Almeria (1:43), he starts running at the start of the play with four Real Madrid players in front of him when Tchouameni is touching the ball to finally take advantage of Kroos's cross.

Absolutely insane comment. Bale scored the winner in not one but two champions league finals. Scored an iconic goal to win the Copa del rey final. Not to mention how electric that front three of Cristiano, Benzema and Bale was.

Bale left more of an impact on football than most players ever.
He did but he was never consistently Top 5 players in the world like I expected him to be once he left Spurs, I might of been a bit too harsh actually Bale had a great career at Madrid but he never quite reached the heights I thought he would, a player like Neymar is frequently chastised for underachieving and he hit a level higher than Bale for much longer, let alone someone like Suarez.

Definitely not way more technical or skilled, he’s a better dribbler than Gerrard Gerrrard was a better passer and striker of the ball, both can look ungainly when running but both technically good overall.

So far has been by far the best player in Real Madrid this season.

Top 3 player in the world: Haaland, Mbappe, Bellingham?

"Best player" and "most goals" really is one and the same thing to you, isn't it?

None of the three really feels deserving the "best player in the world" disclaimer, IMO. But then again, no other player really does either.

In regards to what? I'll assume you mean solo performances. I cant argue with Suarez, some of the shit he did at Liverpool was disturbingly good but I've not seen a standout game from Neymar, at the highest level, where he was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch. He smoked us at OT a few years ago and I rate him very highly btw.

Come to think of it, R9 at OT in 2003, is arguably the greatest solo performance you'll see but imo there is a difference with Bale. At his peak he did things quite literally singlehandedly and it didn't matter who was playing with or against. That run against Bartra for instance, his volleys, his long range screamers but mainly that hattrick against Inter - it was and still remains a mindfeck.
