we Started really well again and we were shading it for 30minutes and missed two chances. One howler and a soft pen and we lost the plot and Bayern controlled the game.
People saying Bayern were not great, i was quite impressed, they played in third gear, as soon as we score they attack carve us open and bang a goal back in. They looked a far better team than we do. They hit the post twice, could easily have been 6-3.

we need Varane and Amrabat fit. AWB is all so a big miss in games like this.
4-3 is no disgrace but flatters us slightly.

Did any of you miss Kane though. Still glad we didn’t get all in on him. If he can disappear against us, then he would be invincible in all our games.

I can see some bright and I can see why we struggle and what to address. I really hope ETH sees it to.

Very hard game to analyse.
Literally half the team is unavailable, yet we managed to look the better for a good chunk of the first half, a penalty worthy foul on one of our player doesn’t get checked.
Then as usual they score on their first shots in targets and our keeper decides to have a howler (or several, depends on how severe you are).
We come back but our mood gets instantly killed by a very soft penalty.
We still manage to get two goals and concede one on a counter where the keeper once again may or may not have done something better.

I’m really hoping players will start to come back from injury
Yeah, a strange game overall. We looked bright at times only to concede soft goals at the worst possible of times. Reminded me a lot of the Arsenal game before the international break, actually.

People voting Casemiro man of the match. He was brutal for 85 mins.
Well, neither Bruno or Onana are the MotM to be honest.
Onana once again proving he was an unnecessary signing (but hey, he can play form the back and do some passes). And ETH doesn't understand that he can make changes before the 80th min.

Well I'll take the little positives out of the game and pray Amrabat is fit for our next game. We really need to shore up our midfield. More bite in that department is needed.

The lads just need to keep going.

How is Reguilon the highest player rating but not in the top 5 in the man of the match vote? Odd!

Reguilon, Martinez, Hojlund and Pellestri played well considering who they were up against.

Onana better sort that shit out as he's a great goalkeeper and we got rid of De Gea for this exact type of mistake. He played well the majority of the game.

We were lucky they weren't ruthless.

Lindelof, Dalot, Casemiro, Eriksen, Bruno and Rashford were awful today. When it mattered they didn't defend well at all I'd be interested to see their pass completion stats today because it looked awful to me.

Bruno rarely does well against good teams.

I don't want to see Casemiro-Eriksen as a pairing again. It's too slow. I know we've got players injured, but Hannibal could've done a better job than Eriksen tonight. At least with him we'd get some unpredictability. We have to try something different instead of just throwing them on together and seeing the same shit again and again.

Rashford and Bruno were bad. Reguilon, Hojlund and somehow Martial were good. Onana made a howler. McT is lazy. The rest were so so. The penalty decision was atrocious. The scoreline both flattered us and reflected how close the game was for periods of time. We can beat these lot at home provided EtH actually sorts our glaring issues and we get some players back.
We really lack athleticism, all over the pitch but especially in midfield - and it’s odd because I don’t think it’s something that Mount offers us. Hoping that Amrabat can inject some soon, but we’re a lightweight team who get outfought routinely.

Eriksen and Bruno were horrendous in midfield, I really don't want to see Eriksen start again, chuck in Hannibal, he won't be worse than Eriksen

If you’d have offered me we’d score 3 goals then I’d have taken your arm off. :houllier:

We just aren’t getting any breaks at the moment.

Handball at Spurs, Garnacho goal at Arsenal, Equaliser against Brighton, penalty tonight. All pivotal decisions that could have gone either way but have all gone against us.

we have a lot of mentality issues. I donno how these are solved, but we keep conceding
Right after Scoring. We have some personnel issues too, especially at the back.

Not that bad but we have this habit of making ridiculous, ridiculous errors. We're not getting over the line against teams like this with the soft streak that runs through our side.

Its as if we can only play when the pressure reduces to the point that we're in a nearly dead lost position. Then suddenly we show something. That's a mentality issue. Throw in the way we concede as soon as scoring which is becoming a pattern. And not a good one.

I don't know how that game ended 4-3 but that scoreline flatters us.

Positives - We somehow got 3 goals. Hojlund first goal. Regullion looks good. Casemiro much better second hal aside from the goals, proper quick with his passes.

Negatives - We're leaking goals. Onana mistake. Martinez/Lindelof/Dalot questions need to be asked especially Martinez. Team desperately lacks physicality, like men vs boys at times. Eriksen can't play in these big games, lacks intensity, one of Mount/Amrabat a must. Bayern was toying with us like Brighton, there are times when we can barely get a hold of the ball and when we do, can't keep it for more than 10 seconds.

It's the pressure. If we score one of our chances we'd relax. Though at the moment, we relax a bit too much after scoring! Got to work on that concentration!

We were willing to fight after going behind. Body language was more positive compared to the Brighton game.

I think we played much better than the Brighton game.

We may as well put Evans in goal. This team has no fight, no build up, no end product. We rely on names and status and accept rubbish. I don't understand what system we are trying to play and why we trust in players who have done nothing for years. I would rather see our youth play than watch Mctominay come on and fall over one hundred times. Dare I say, sign De Gea back and get a real captain out there.

Give peas a chance.
There’s the bones of something good in this team, but they’re so very fecking brittle.

The way we concede goals very quickly one after the other, or concede goals right after we ourselves have scored is a proper mental weakness we really need to address.

Yeah it really wasn't. I like how we never gave up, and you could really see the effort out there. There is no denying that, but Bayern could easily have scored 2 more. Too many people on here forgetting about their chances and ruing our misfortune. United just aren't at the same level as Bayern. We have about 6 players out there (possibly more) who could be replaced by far more suitable footballers. That's just how it is for us right now. ETH needs numerous seasons, but my major concern was his performance in the transfer market given how much money we had to spend. It's all very worrying.

Weird game. Some fight and character shown at least, and you can point to some parts of the game where we actually look alright...and then something just goes horribly horribly wrong in the defence or we miss an easy chance.

It's not very good if you're a transition team that wastes glorious opportunities to go 1-0 up and then always ends up conceding first

Bruno and Rashford - despite the numbers they put up- are too inconsistent performance wise to be your star players.

They have some really good performances from time to time, but their floor performance wise is abysmal

I disagree. I think we fought as best we could. We're just not good enough given our squad. We have major limitations.

It's been there for ages. We need a good sports psychologist. There has got to be some method that can help us. I'm shocked it looks like no one at the club has realised this. Playing at United after Sir Alex is one long shit show of internal and external crap. It's not easy to play in that atmosphere. Absolutely need help here.

No offence to the Bundesliga faithful but they might be the worst team we’ve played  - either that or we actually turned up for prolonged periods of the game. 4-3 away to Bayern is fine, I’m very confident we’ll get through the group based on that though, even with errors there was some control and goals in the team.

Martial still has that magic but he’s probably now out again for a month.
Probably one good game from getting injured again.

thought we played well for large parts. when you have a keeper howler and super dodgy penalty it just isnt your night.

i thought Onana made some really good saves and transitioned from our box to theirs is 2 seconds with his passing.

I still think Casemeiro is solid with anyone but Eriksen and MCtom next to him.

we get some players back and we should be fine.

those saying sack Ten Hag need to calm down

If we didn't have injuries and were in last season's best form, this could've been a win or a draw like Barcelona in February. I don't think this Bayern side are all that.

I'm still not panicked, but we need to find a few wins in a row for some confidence.

The mental fragility and midfielders not tracking back in a big CL game is unforgivable, though.

Apart from Onana’s howler, he made several important blocks and saves.
He had no chance for the 2nd, the pen, or the blaster into the roof for their 4th.

But he’ll be damned for just that one mistake.

I think you're forgetting the number of chances Bayern had. They hit the woodwork twice! They also dominated the 2nd half, passing the ball about comfortably bar the odd break away we managed to grab. I think we did the best we could do never stop trying to make something of the game, but there is no way we deserved to win that game.
Take a look at the xg. It says we were very evenly matched. We also had chances that go down as 0 xg but were almost a goal. So did Bayern to be fair.

My point though was that if we had rightfully been given that pen the whole game changes as a result. We can sit back and play on the counter, Bayern have to press and be more risky, etc.

Yeah Bayern never looked concerned until it was 3 - 2, but almost like flicking on a switch they were able to score a world-class team goal with a superb finish. They were extremely comfortable albeit a few errors on their part in defence. A weird game indeed.

\Come on we weren't pathetic. Against Brighton yes, but not tonight. Lots of work for us to do but some encouraging signs. Let's leave the negativity.
Fully agree with you here.

Worrying how Reguilon is our best player for 2 games straight.

Casemiro, okay he scored 2 goals, but he was diabolical and so slow for everything
Eriksen is done at this level
Rashford and Hojlund don't seem to be compatible
Lindelof's passive defending is really irritating. Annoying how we couldn't sell Maguire and get another CB in
Upgrade on Dalot needed badly
I'd start Garnacho in the next game, he's the only winger that can actually dribble past defenders when he receives the ball with the defender in front of him
Pellistri was not good at all
