We said the same thing during the Potter/Lampard season when they were losing every match, but they still never dropped below 12th place or something like that. There's a lot of dross in the PL who will be worse than them, sadly.

Yes that was my question the other day but wasn't answered. How many years can Chelsea afford to miss out on european income before they hit serious issues with FFP?
As said before it could just be way Man. United did deals but it was stated there was penalty clause in the deal with Adidas if they missed out on CL football two years in a row and that's going to happen to Chelsea with no guarantee whatsoever they'll qualify next season.
If you're not in Europe, you don't have to worry about the UEFA FFP rules.

Surely they would. To what extent I don’t think anyone really knows.
However, part of me feels that they are semi-preparing for this by getting so many young players on such long contracts, that way if they’re deemed to be in breach of FFP and are given a transfer embargo for 1-2yrs, they have the players locked down already.
If they do make CL, then fine for them.Their transfer business lately feels like they are spreading their chips over both potential outcomes.
Maybe I’m completely wrong, just my feelings.

So they 'should' have drawn 1-1. Still not good enough.
For a (supposed) top team, creating only 1,4 xG at home against a smaller side is pretty underwhelming regardless.

I also don't think it would be anywhere near as crazy as Leicester's title win because everyone can see Chelsea are being run in at utterly daft way, at a time when clubs like them are expected to chuck around 100 million plus just to get anyone proven to be half-decent. The number of stars that had to align for Leicester to win the league by comparison was ridiculous.

Main problem for Chelsea is that the players they bought doesn't look like clicking. They'll most likely miss European football next season as well so I don't think they'll be allowed to spend as much due to FFP.
Most players they bought look bang average is amazing how a club can spend so much as still end up with an average squad.

It's not inconceivable that they get 0 points from that run of fixtures.

No, but it’s the bare minimum that should be expected after spending a billion in 12 months.
It would be absolutely unforgivable in my opinion, and it looks like it’s going to happen.
They're lucky there's no negative points for being awful.
The thing is the team is actually playing ok. Pretty good defensively, nice control in midfield, and we create decent enough chances to win most games. We are just unprecedented bad at scoring goals.
Still can't understand how anyone thought they'd be anything but a slight improvement on last season, they might have some talented players but the insane squad turnover and lack of goal threat was always going to hurt them massively.
Yes. You would think with the state of the officiating and the odds of getting some luck in a crucial moment, they would be able to win or draw at least one of those matches. Certainly, all of those opponents have been much superior to Chelsea for close to a year now.
Obviously the loss of James and Nkunku has been huge. When are those two expected back?

I feel for you (just you a bit) but I think you’re a little blinkered here.
It’s exactly the same as it was under Potter.
To be fair i haven't seen a single full match this season, so i'll take your word for it. What do you think is the main problem? Lack of confidence, lack of quality up front, or a streak of rotten luck? The latter of course have a tendency of cementing themselves into real and tenacious problems, once doubt has set foot in each department of a club (see United).
