I think we actually played well.

Kept the pressure on Palace for around 70 minutes, but just didn't score.

Final thirds the issue, I think we miss Antony on the right. Need a run of good form for the forwards and goals will do that.

When Shaw is back and Amrabat is in the midfield a fully fit squad makes us one of the best in the league IMO just need another game or two but I think we're turning a corner.

Ignore the result today there were some good performances and we're not far off it.
No, we don’t play well at all. We have no composure on the ball and can’t create anything. We just can’t have any constructive play.
We just don’t have any patterns of play in attack..

I agree with all of this except the last. ETH is quality and the only thing we have going for us right now.
As I said it is hard to judge due to the circumstances he has to deal with, any top manager in the world couldn't Turn us into challengers and that makes it very hard to judge a managers ability.

Only Sir Alex could do it back then and that is because those above points were not substandard at the time bar the owners.

How is sacking ten Hag the answer? Is there a manager in the world who can make this club, with these owners, work? I genuinely don’t think so. Look at poch at Chelsea, a lot of people wanted him at United. There’s only so much a manager can do. Until these cnuts sell up and allow the club be rebuilt from the bottom up we are going to be going in this continues circle of shite, regardless of who the manager is.
Aye sacking ETH is just an idiotic idea. There are probably 5 or 6 separate issues going on at United that are not being addressed. There may well be more we don't even know about, or they haven't been highlighted yet. They all combine to form the perfect storm. As the club is quite possibly one of the worst run clubs in top flight football, nobody appears to be addressing these issues. The issues haven't been addressed since SAF retired. Sacking ETH only adds another issue to the already mounting number of issues.

TLDR: We are all over the shop! Sacking ETH only adds another problem.

Decision making was shocking mixed with terrible finishing! Infuriating, second half felt like it was coming but always a bad choice.

What was more piss poor, is this place going whole RAWK mode, ref/VAR this ref/VAR that, luck this luck that, "if that was us, it would be pen, he would give us 15 red cards, GK turned into prime X" etc. Shameless shit

You are missing the net spend alternative league. That's RAWK.

so if shaw was back, you wouldn't play amrabat?

Casemiro, Mount, Bruno midfield -- and leave out Amrabat who I thot was one of our better players today?
Nuke Pellistri from orbit and play Mount or Bruno on the right. Or drop one if they keep playing like shit and play Hannibal for a bit.

I would hate play 4v4 or any short sided game with Rashford. He just makes so many poor decisions that he would be such a frustrating teammate.

The only good I saw out of all that is Mount (why was he taken off?) and Amrabat. They played with confidence and tried to make things happen.

It's very possible Casemiro is done at the top levels. He was better in the 2nd half when he had more freedom, but his 1st half was horrible. When the fullbacks are back I would like to see Amrabat as the DM. Casemiro is Matic all over again. A 30+ DM who gives us 5 or 6 good months and then ages.

Top 4 is looking doubtful now. Then we hire a new manager in the summer and we start all over again. Ugh.

Disappointed but not surprised, completely undone the good work of Burnley last week. Sounds like Rashford should have stayed on the bench from the game on Tuesday night

As usual it’s hard to comment on the game as it’s all still a blur. Especially after missing the first fecking half an hour. Never seen an atmosphere like that after a game though. Multiple arguments between fans walking and fans leaving in their cars. Could be the crap weather but you’d think they’d be used to that by now. Hopefully this team can turn it round and things just click but it’s feeling like it’ll be a long season.

The club needs new owners to invest and energise the place. It's like the club of the living dead right now.

Agree on Hannibal. Why bring feckin Donnie when we are chasing the game? Why not Hanniabl?

What are you basing that on. Even our wins this season have been really poor performances?
I'm basing it on the match today, given the parked bus we were up against, the goal we conceded that was a comedy of errors, followed by a dodgy free kick, followed by a wonder strike from a defender who wouldn't do it again in another hundred attempts, and us missing all our chances ending with an xG of double theirs.

As for every win being poor performances, I don't agree, and that discussion is for a different thread.

This league bores the life out of me sometimes. Opposition score a goal from a very low probability chance and then stick 11 men behind the ball for the rest of the game. Half the teams in the league do this and it’s obviously a valid strategy but it makes the game atrocious to watch. Easier to accept being beaten by a football team in Brighton but to lose to this shite is embarassing.
We should ask to play in Edervise.

The pro is we are dire in attack. We have no patterns and can’t create anything. There is no excuses. I won’t play Palace to play with their weapons. Under Fergie, we win that 100%.

Get a LB back, put Amrabat with Casemiro and Mount, play Bruno out right and Garnacho out left with Martial if fit up top, with Hojlund to come on.

Yeah that was a tough watch and as I have maintained, we're gonna have more of them. It's gonna be an up/down season, more bad moments so far which is concerning.

Thought no player stood out except maybe Mount? All poor but Rashford especially. He was direct which is good but consistently making poor decisions. Hojlund graveyard shift, no real goal threat but I expected that in his first season. Bruno, quiet.

Even though we created 'chances' we did not sustain pressure. That 80% posession stat is misleading, we moved the ball around too slow. Usually harp on Fernandes playing football like hot potato but for once, we needed someone to play like it was hot potato! Play it fast and direct is the only way to break down a deep block, don't give the defenders time to set in their positions!

Expected a drop off from last season, but didn't think it would be this bad! Not much to hope for either, it's not like we're scoring loads of goals or playing a certain brand of attacking football with loads of clear cut chances being made! Still maintain things will improve but yeah, not a lot to go off, maybe just my heart talking more than my mind!

Everything about UTD is TOXIC...... Fans need to stop going to games and buying merch and force these parasites out.....This will be a rinse and repeat until the ownership changes and even then the rebuild will take time but it starts with the culture of the club being changed and a culture of only the best will do... to bed in and that only starts when THEY are gone!

Totally agree. Add to it that Palace were time wasting from the first throw in. Palace didn’t come to play, they just defended with 11 and scored a deflected goal.

The thing is regardless of off field issues, injury crisis or anything else the same issues were present today that we saw all last year.

We don’t make quality chances often enough and those that we do make we aren’t clinical. Midfield balance, lack of pace, individual errors etc are all in there too. Lack of teamwork and poor decision making in the final third.

If ETH continues to say ‘the players didn’t follow the instructions’ or whatever then at what point do you ask questions of the manager.

At what point is the question asked ‘why are they not following your instructions?’ Or ‘do you have to change your approach to get better results?’

Hasnt contributed a goal or assist in any game he plays. they would simply let him have the ball and spam shots. none of those players bar Shaw are quality players

Watch out with your reasoning and rationality around here
His reasoning and rationality is indeed sound but how many times this and last season have we read similar and had results like today? Eventually it gets to a point where the outcome of the game needs to take precedence, and like many times in the last 18 months (and the umpteen managers before it) we're looking at a loss and a poor position in the league.

Plus it's just after the game so the tension is high, and about 85% of us on this forum are emotional morons.

This x 10000000000

Every match thread is just whining about the refs, and victim-hood mentality around officiating. Cas could easily have been sent off today, Amrabat tried to handle the ball 3 times while also making 6/7 other fouls, calling thing like the Ward handball a blatant pen. I mean c'mon the feck.

I think in retrospect all our problems are mental. At this point I think Ten Hag needs to drop some players for their own sake and experiment a bit, at this point we have nothing left to lose in the league, it's going to be near impossible to salvage our season anyway so we might as well figure out who our pretenders are.

CP scored a worldie that flies over 9 times out of 10.

We were unlucky not to put 2 or 3 past them, and had a stonewall pen denied.

We dominated and Palace never looked like doing anything of note.

When it rains, it pours. Horrible luck, shit refereeing.
Your user name does *not* check out. Palace camped with 11 behind the ball, scored a flukey goal, and did nothing else. When Jose parked the bus people here hated it, but Hodgson does it and he’s a tactical genius. I think with 1 up top, we need to play the ball in to feet to Højlund, but we had 2 wide players who were selfish and/or shit. Out most creative player , Bruno, couldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo. Around them, we had players giving maximum effort and doing their part in build up play that should have resulted in goals.

Not too long ago the thing was you couldn't afford to lose more than about 6 games in the season if you wanted to win the title.
City and Liverpool upped that ante to no more than 1 or 2 and we've now lost 4 before the end of September.
Wow, just wow :houllier:

You leave Roy out of this, I am not sure what else you expect from him when our front three has gone from Zaha Edouard Olise to Schlupp Mateta Ayew. Frightening drop-off in quality that, it’s Eze and nothing.

The core problem, a problem which has plagued us since Moyes brought in Fellaini, is that cannot break down a parked bus.

The one superpower Rashford has is his pace, but pace is useless against a low block. Pellistri was actually grueling into the game when he was subbed off and Rashford moved to the right, after which time he disappeared and we were playing with 10 men.
