DAVID VILLA has taunted Chelsea — saying they are not up to Manchester United’s standard.

And the Valencia hitman insists he is targeting a dream Champions League final against the Premiership’s top side.

He said: “I would sign right now for a final against Manchester United. They’re the team playing the best football in Europe.

“We know that Chelsea aren’t playing well and we hope they carry on badly.”

Villa’s strike partner Fernando Morientes misses tomorrow’s Champions League quarter-final first leg with a dislocated shoulder.

But Mori still managed a swipe at Blues superstars Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko.

Morientes said: “It’s difficult to watch players like Ballack and Shevchenko doing so badly as they are now.

Has Morientes forgotten his stint in the Premiership so quickly? You know, the one where he played really really shit for the scouse before pissing off back to the easier Spanish league?

Villa is immense. Would love to see him join us in the Summer.

Every time I hear of Morientes these days I think of Gaby diving in from 5m behind the prick in the box at Anfield and getting the ball. One of the greatest tackles I have ever seen.

At that split second point in time I actually feared for Morientes' career. I thought he was gonna be seriously hurt....what a tackle, classic way of getting a ball fairly and taking your opponent out at the same time so he won't get to any rebounds.

Morientes was a pretty good striker in his day, scored goals of all types such as Villa is doing, what's not to say Villa wouldn't be another flop like Morientes was, and Torres too for that matter?

Morientes is still a very good striker Johnno. But you're right, there are no guarentees someone playing fantastic in one country will transfer it to another. Those who can are the best in the business

he is now he's back in Spain, he was when he was in Monaco, when he was in England he was poo. A lot of players go down this road it would seem, play well in certain counties but then go to England and can't perform. Similar to a lot of English players who have gone to Italy or Spain and have been made to look ordinary. How was your prawn buttie tonight son?

pure and utter luck
As much as I hate the Scousers, beating Juventus, Chelsea and coming back from 3-0 down against Milan required something more than luck mate, but point was about Morientes and how he was so good for Real, then went to Monaco and was banging them away, then went to Scousers and was rubbish

I think that's his point. If you look at what he said, and ignore what is said in the article, he says it's 'difficult to watch', since he knows how it feels.

Why do we keep hearing about how good we are and that our football is the best in europe. We were average in the group stages and struggled badly against Lille.

I only wish United could play in Europe like we do in the League but for some reason its not happening.

Everyone knows we haven't performed in Europe. But when you prepare for a match, you always watch the league performances. We've been incredible in the league, it's only a matter of time when we transfer that form into Europe.

Besides football is alot like Tennis, peaking to early in a competition can be bad news. But we deffiantly need to raise our game against Roma. We can't piss around.

Us against Valencia in the final would be the best, failing that, the dippers would be better than chelsea in terms of an easy final

Hope, We Lose
Well, he's making the right noises at least. If we're going to sign a striker for a boatload of cash, I hope it's Villa.

Revolting, I've been on the shitter all night. You pay £10 for a sandwich and this is what you get eh... :)
you said you buy the cheapo version from Tesco, I knew you were really a Selfridges kinda guy. Try an old traditional chip muffin with gravy and salt n' vinegar, tremendous.

I do hope Chelsea stuff Valencia and thrash Liverpool next. Imagine if the scousers won the damn thing again :nervous:
I'd rather Valencia beat Chelsea, twat Liverpool in the semis, then we twat Valencia in the final to be honest....
I DO NOT want to play either Chelsea or Liverpool in the final just in case
