This'll end 5-2 Chelsea or something like that.
Well close enough I guess. That high line with 8 outfield players was always going to be exposed. In the end all 3 goals came from it.

Well done to Spurs, though. Imagine if Son scored in 92/93rd minute, that would've been crazy.

…and and infinitely more entertaining game of football. Remember when that was the reason we watched football? To be entertained?
Yeah the delays are annoying for sure. You could tell from first replay Dier was half a yard offside and it took over two minutes to confirm so could do without that.

Even with the delays that was one of the most entertaining games I've seen in years. Son puts away that chance and Spurs are 2-2 with 9 men in the 95th minute!

Chelsea still look pretty mediocre, will struggle to get over 50 points so not going to be in contention for much come May.

Is this the worst hattrick ever?
Zlatan vs St. Etienne springs to mind.

I feel like I need a lie down after that game. Going into this match I'd probably have said I would have preferred a Chelsea win, but Vicario's heroics had me rooting for Spurs by the hour mark.

The high line was the right thing to do in the last 5 or 10. Neville is a gobshite. Nice to see a team go for it even with 9
But they spend the majority of the time after the first red with that high line.

I suppose it's good PR, when people are saying what you said in bold.

Sky are spinning this so that a 4-1 loss should be something to be proud of :wenger: If this was United, we’d be labelled amateur and naive.
Neville was saying time after time in the second half how Spurs are playing really well with the high line. If we did that he'd be calling the manager absolutely insane.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

It’s a tricky one. On the one hand you think pragmatism may have resulted in less of a thrashing but then on the flip side that sort of attitude of having zero fear may pay dividends in the long run and they ended up with a standing ovation and everyone fully on board and connected. Plus it was very funny to watch.

I said last 5 or 10. They shouldn't have been like that for 30 I'll agree with that. But they needed a goal towards the end and they weren't far off

I did like the commentator saying how this was going to be great for his confidence about 5 seconds before he shanked a sitter almost out of the stadium.
Don't know if this is more common that it seems to be in my mind, but is this perhaps the first time a player has scored a hat trick and yet managed to underperform their xG in the same game?

Ange deserves a lot of credit for the start theyve made but to play that ultra high line against players like Sterling, Jackson etc was ridiculously stupid

Chelsea were quite poor - had they sat back a bit they could have grabbed a draw - made it easy for them

if this was Ten Hag he'd be getting destroyed

In all seriousness, Spurs without their 2 central defenders for a few games is a real blow.
They do not even have another CB other than Dier right? Maddison went off injured as well? No Maddison, Udogie, Romero, VDV, whoever is playing Spurs next will be well happy with that result.

Because everyone criticises massive clubs. No one cares about small clubs. We’re the most talked about club in the world wether it be bad or good things.

Bentancur also should have scored because Gallagher decided to just ignore him for whatever reason
The highline was mental, but when you see those chances you can see the method in the madness.

People saying it was mental will only look at the scoreline and ignore the fact that they had some great chances.

Chelsea on the other hand, must have a lower IQ forward line than Utd.

It's not comparable whenever United lose the players give up, they switch off at 2 goals down it's a default reaction. Spurs pushed hard but to their own demise. It's admirable, there's losing and then there's losing. United almost always capitulate at the wrong end of results. If the team lost like that the manager would get criticism but objectively it's what you take into the next game which in spurs case are some good positives.
The way Spurs went out had shades of our 1-6 game against City in 2011. Sure we pushed hard, but we got trounced at the end of the day. I sure don't remember the media trying to spin that as something admirable. Fergie himself outright said that it was his worst game or something along those lines.

No, because he overperformed his xG by 0.23. This is why expected goals only work over an extended period of matches.

Ange was stupid. Playing with two men down is tough, but Chelsea are clueless and would've struggled against a parked bus, instead he allowed pacey players to have a field day. Sorry, he's a dummy.
Very odd. They could we easily have come away with a draw or even nicked a win if they'd shut up shop and played on the break.

Yeah part of me thinks Spurs went for that once Enzo went off - Chelsea lacked a lot of quality in that ball from midfield without him.

It made sense for them to do overall I'd say - people will point to the chances Chelsea fluffed before going 2-1 up had but knowing how idiotic and uncomposed the opposition forward line is is surely part of the calculus when opting for that tactic.

They just didn't have the pace on the break without Johnson and didn't have anyone to play that ball in behind without Maddison. With 10 men I'd tend to agree with you but with 9 they had to do something unconventional and it almost worked.
