Looks like there are so many young people here used to play on pitch with perfect cut grass, sunny days and 25-30C outside.

20-30 years ago we had no problems playing on that. Even before. If it is cold, put on long sleeve shirt and go out there and be warriors.

Siege mentality as much as you want. Playing another tough away game 48 hours after a trip to Istanbul is guarantee heavy loss. No chance the players even recover sufficiently to play Newcastle.

I'm hardly claiming it would be an advantage...but to say its a guaranteed heavy loss is a bit laughable.

Have a bit of faith, Rashford and Hojlund should be fresh, replace a few tired legs in the middle and United are more than capable of giving Newcastle a game.

You look at the state of the pitches football was played on decades ago, then look at some comments on here about a wet pitch, and just shake your head about how the world has changed for the worst

Didn’t the England MNT have a game postponed to the following day in Europe somewhere due to torrential rain & they were given sleeping pills to help get some shut eye, then turned up & put on a rather lethargic performance?

Or did I completely conjure that up all by myself?

Please don't make this a thing.

Has Højlund done enough to slot right back in after a good performance from Martial?
I will take pelters as whilst that was one of martial's better games for us in recent times I was still left infuriated after seeing him not making any attempt to get near the ball on numerous crosses/passes inside the box... he got a goal and a sketchy pen, but that was all he did... I would have Rasmus back in without a second thought (if fully fit)

At this stage I feel the Europa league is just as unlikely, I have zero confidence that we will get enough from the remaining two fixtures, I see a draw tonight and at home against Bayern, that should leave us plum last.... hope I am wrong

    If that's true that's embarassing.

I’m actually kind of excited for this game. Can’t believe it.

    Just when I think I’m out…

I think that was in Poland. The stadium actually had a roof but they didn't bother to close it.

Im quite curious how Gala will approach the game.
In their home game against us they went full risk from the first minute. Insanely high and aggressive pressing and a very high back line.

They caused us many problems but when we managed to play out from the back we had a good chance for a counter attack almost every time.
They were also completely done since the 70th minute.

In our 2nd game in Munich they played deeper and with less risk.

I dont know if Its an home/away thing for them or if they just adjusted because their main approach didnt work in the first game.

I really hope they play like against us in the first game because this might become a spectacular game with lots of chances on both sides.

I’m born in 94 born and raised in Sweden it’s normal to us to play in that kind of weather. We even played on layers of snow that turned in to ice during the winter the worlds gone soft.

Not really that generation but no problem. You can call us that.

It is big difference between us and youngsters nowdays.

I like it and see no problem with that. You can't control weather. Just have good clothes on and just go with it. People shouldn't be afraid of getting dirty and wet.

I mean when you say ‘us and youngsters’ then it is obviously generational.

These aren’t school children. I still play Sunday league on hills with pouring rain. But footballers at this level don’t play the same as we do. If the ball literally can’t move because it’s waterlogged it’s not a case of ‘oh in my day’ it’s a case of they don’t want to play football volleyball.

If there is snow on the pitch, just use the orange ball to see it properly and proceed. But don't blame it on youngsters in general - there are still those wo go outside to play happily, and there are the weaklings who only look at bad weather through their windows or on an internet forum.

Martial absolutely features in that. He got a goal and an assist in the last game, and 10 of our 14 open play goals have come with him on the pitch. He should start next to Højlund, not instead of him. Playing 2 strikers together doesn’t mean one is permanently shoved out to the wing.
And where does Garnacho feature in that? On the right? He's a lot more of a threat than Martial and his best position is on the left.

Rain would suit us better, harder for them to press us around a socking, draining pitch.
I’d love for it to be called off though

I'd say the biggest reason most 'big' games are called off nowadays isn't because of the pitch conditions, or players not being prepared to play on them - it's for fans safety as regards access to and from games and, in the litigious society we live in, fear of being sued over health and safety if any fan has accidents in or around the stadium.

Pitch looks heavy but perfectly playable. Ball will hold up a little by the looks of things but as long as the pitch dosent start cutting up excessively should be fine.

Long studs and look to go more vertical, might suit us in all honesty.

They get payed to play so they should just do that. No excuse. We got some sports where people play in snowstorms and heavy rain. So footballers can and should do that to.

With youngsters I meant football players today. To fragile.

It’s not them choosing whether a game goes ahead. It’s your generation who make these decisions.

I always love that older people blame young people for the decisions they have made.

‘ah too many bloody participation trophies these days’ Yeah. You gave them to us.

‘Young people are addicted to their screens’ Yeah and you made those screens.

It’s as if you think they were raised in a vacuum.
