Defensively and in midfield we've been good. Less said about our attack the better.

Antony just did but he was on his heels. Doesn't seem to have 'that' instinct to finish things off
nope... the ball may have gone into a dangerous area but was away from hojilund. to be there he'd have had to run offside

Rashford has been awful. I wouldn't bring him on unless there is an injury
In fairness, so has Hojlund. He looks out of his depth here. Not suggesting Rashford is going to come on and change the game, but he can deliver a moment.

I love people bashing hojlund and conveniently only counting his epl goal tally and ignoring his ucl goal tally. Also how many epl goals does rashford have? How many does Bruno have?

I think you've created your own siege mentality. I rarely make negative posts about Hoijlund. That could have been my first. But it's clear his game has weaknesses otherwise he would not be on a goal drought in the PL.

There's nothing wrong in acknowledging McT's strengths. And no, oftentimes it's not that McT takes up Hoilund's positions. It's just that he reacts quicker, especially during transitions.

At least that's what I've noticed in the replays of our countless failed attacks.
Well he is a far more experienced player.

The whole team is on a goal drought. That includes last season, when Rashford's form helped cover it up.

I'm not saying Højlund doesn't have weaknesses. We all wanted Kane in the summer. If I've created a siege mentality it's probably because there are countless posts on here just calling him shit. There are people going on about how Martial gets more touches, etc., without going into how pointless most of those touches are, and how little Martial offers off of the ball.

Although I do appreciate that you might not be the one making those types of posts.

Disagree. Antony stalled the pass for Garnacho first chance and didn’t give him a great angle. Garnacho should have scored anyway. The second chance Antony mishit the pass which would have been intercepted but the defender slipped.
Defender slipped but that gave Garnacho an opportunity. The first one was an amazing chance. You have to have some agenda to not see that the pass was perfectly weighted and given at just the right time.

I'd say we have done... OK. We should be winning and finished the half better than we started it. If this team had a top striker, results would be so different. Anyway, hopefully the momentum of the last 15 minutes continues into the 2nd half.
How so, we don't have a striker missing chances. We have has a severe lack of cohesion in attack all season, must have some of the least creative wide players in the league this season and have constantly been all over the place defensively. A striker doesn't fix all that.

It was good game for us. Especially after the first 10 minutes we really grew into the game.

We should be winning though. Especially that Garnacho chance when Antony played him through. I hope we don't come to regret not capitalising on their mistakes.

I always thought that most players get better, when they play for a better team than they are used to. But not Højlund, he was much better for Atalanta and the danish National team. It is as if his timing is not the same in United. He arrives too late in the box too often.

I'm actually okay with how things are going. Should have been 2 -0 up on any other day.

Considering with all injuries, I would take a dry 1-0 win any day. Only points matters.
    I agree and disagree.
Agree with that fact that we haven't played badly at all and being okay with how things are going.

Disagree with the fact that we'd have been 2-0 up on another day. More likely we'd have the exact same chances and it still be 0-0 at the half. You know, considering we haven't gone in to a half 2-0 up all season (In the league)

Garnacho went for the near post for the first chance hitting it with the inside of his foot. I felt he could have hit it with more power

A top striker would hold the ball up better, link up play better and have far better movement

That's a very good angle for Garnacho to curl it into the corner, he gets the ball stuck under his feet. The chance Antony created for him was an excellent one.

Glad that Moyes not our coach anymore. Feck me, he is still playing so negative football. How on earth SAF recommended him to take over the helm?
Yea. Strange decision from SAF at the time.

But I don't blame Moyes one bit for our negative football. That's literally his style. At least he didn't turn up at Utd and say I won't play my style because I don't have the players for it.

He assumed (like anyone would) that we hired him to bring his style here. We won't put Dyche at Barcelona and expect him to tiki taka his way to the La Liga title.

Hojlund isn't good enough, I don't understand why so many are in denial about this. He might be one day but right now he offers nothing.

This is Sunday league attacking. Honestly, we can't even do the basics.

The 4 times a game we pass it to him?

It's essentially just describing Kane at Spurs, not exactly a great advertisement for better results.

Antony has been better today, and I like that he does not just stay near the line all the time, but moves more around

Oh wow, Hojlund bad, his fault for that overpowered cross that he wasn't there!

Am I doing it right Caf?

I like him, think he’s a decent player, not convinced he’s absolutely top quality though and as I say he’s been pretty poor today.
Kudus is 23 - and has become core to West Ham already. I don't know what your assessment of "top quality" is but he'd be a considerable upgrade on what we have. Regarding today, poor games happen, he's up against a good player in Shaw - and me saying he's very good wasn't predicated by today's showing. He's had plenty of excellent performances.

I do find it funny how some posters find ways to criticise players even when they do things right. That first pass into Garnacho was well timed and perfectly weighted, and the second was even better. The CB slipped trying to get a foot on it. The fact that it was just out of reach of the defender is a good thing.

Annoyingly, both of those situations are ones in which Rashford generally excels at. He's not been getting those types of opportunities this season. A couple like that could maybe turn things around for him.
