I’m going to look for the positives in this, I kind of pity those on here who just seem to live in a relentless state of miserable about everything.

So how much of the club will SJR actually own? The statement says it will be up to 25% of the Class A shares and 25% of the Class B shares but what does that equate to overall?

The statement also says that the Glazers and the other Class A share holders will recieve $33 per share so I guess that means its not only part of the Glazers shares he is buying.
Class a shares have 1/9 of the votes which means that they are irrelevant in the grand scheme. So I'd say 25% of Class B which makes him the leading shareholder if everyone is seen as an individual but still a minority shareholder to the glazers

Announcing this on xmas eve when many employees of the club will be worried about their jobs (Im talking about non football staff here by the way). Its a shit time to announce this
I don't get this. It's not like they don't know that Ratcliffe's arrival is imminent. Also, not sure what Christmas Eve has to do with anything. We are not living in some Christmas film. A lot of people couldn't care less about Christmas and don't celebrate it, for various reasons.

Who wants to bet that there will be another delay? The Premier League won't approve the deal due to Joel secretly owning a box of Newcastle Brown Ale or something.

Not sure about that. Avram had already sold some of his shares previously, and is only the fourth highest of the siblings. If he's sold previously no reason to think he wouldn't sell again. I expect they all probably sold some, but it'll be interesting to find out what the percentages were. I presume if it was one or two of them completely exiting (or close to it) then we'll hear about it, whereas if we hear no details it was likely an equal (or close to it) amount.

Before selling to Ratcliffe
Joel - 19.11% voting power
Darcie - 18.15%
Bryan - 17.23%
Avram - 14.38%
Kevin - 13.77%
Edward - 12.99%
I deem to remember reading somewhere that Darcie wanted to be completely out, Kevin also wanted to sell to concentrate on Tampa Bay, so maybe they have both reduced their holdings.
The fact remains that the Glazers still hold the purse strings, and will continue to fleece the the club for dividends while it crumbles around them.

I understand some aren’t happy with the Glazers hanging around but surely them losing total control of football operations along with fresh investment, and the 25% dilution of their ownership strength, for the first time in 18 years, is a huge positive?

Whichever side of the fence you sit on this is obviously a step forward and if football operations are successful the club will get back to where it once was.

The Glazers have actually been pretty good on the business side of things so let them do that and INEOS do their thing. If it comes together we will be perfectly fine.

When do we the fans and public in general get to know more details about this deal?
I’m interested to find out if the whole SJR will get control of “Football operations” turns out to be some sort of PR speak or if he’s actually getting any real control to define the football strategy or philosophy going forward etc

100% correct. At this point what have we got to lose. If the foot ball side can be sorted things will settle down.

25% of the class B shares is around 17.25% of total shares as the Glazers owned 69% of the club before. 25% of A shares is around 7.75% of total shares as 31% is floated on the NYSE. So overall ~25% of all shares I think.

However, the 300 million pledged investment over the 12 months next will presumably mean that he will acquire extra shares that way too. So I think it will be at least 30% of the whole club by Christmas 2024.

It seems some of them are under a hope/dillusion that if the club struggles for the next couple of years under just the Glazers and we protest enough, that they will all of a sudden be open to selling all of the club for cheaper.

Yip. 25% of one part + 25% of the other half equals 25% of the lot.

Not sure the £300m investment means more shares?

Is 300m enough to bring OT to an elite level of sports facility?
What is this attitude? It’s the biggest stadium in the league. Do people want heated seats and a popcorn machine ffs? All it needs is to increase the capacity to meet demand. You’re talking as though it’s a dog track.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

It's confirmed in the INEOS statement.

https://www.ineos.com/news/ineos-gr...quire-up-to-a-25-shareholding-in-the-company/

Sir Jim will provide a $300 million fund intended to enable future investment into the Club’s infrastructure at Old Trafford, comprising $200 million paid upon the closing of the transaction and a further $100 million by the end of 2024. Trawlers Limited will be issued additional Class A and Class B shares at $33.00 in respect of such investment.
By my quick and dirty calculations, that'll take Ratcliffe up to about 29.5% by the end of 2014.

No, really, it isn’t. Read all the announcements, the shares are owned by Jim personally via a new holding company. Ineos own nothing.
Surely that means we won't be getting players from Nice on the cheap then? As that would mean Ratcliffe would essentially be asset stripping INEOS at the expense of INEOS's other shareholders.

Yes but part of the agreement says Ineos is the one to run things.

I didn’t read that as equating to more shares… thought it meant infrastructure, stuff like that?
I thought so too

" provide an additional $300 million intended to enable future investment into Old Trafford. "
In the United statement:

To get it to an elite level a full renovation of the South Stand will be needed but thats always been virtually impossible as they would have to either close the Railway line behind it or close the stadium itself while the work is being done.

There are several positives in the deal. For one the Glazers had lost control over the football side of things which, tbf, had been heavily neglected through the years. Then there's those 300m in investment which is a piss in a pot considering the grand scheme of things but is the first cash injection United owners had been engaged in for decades.

However unless there's a clear path for full ownership then I can't see United returning to the glory days.
