A brilliant performance. I agreed with Evra during his half time analysis, we were playing really well and I could see we only needed to score one and then we can go on to win this. So happy for Hojlund to score the winning goal

I trust Villa fans will now hesitate to sing « ole ole » when their team are passing the ball next time

In what universe is this a poor Villa side?
Nonesense. Great result against a very good Villa side that no one expected us to beat before the match started yet alone when we were two down.
Stick to keyboard mate. This is how Villa plays always. That's Emery for you. High press , high line and quick vertical transitions mostly. They still created lot of chances

If you have doubts, just go and check their previous matches.
It was tongue in cheek lads relax, but to be honest we're dogshit so if we've beaten then they can't be that great.

Fantastic second half but it's not rocket science...quick transition of forward play, attack in numbers and players in the box running towards goal! That second half is how we should start games not wait to be 2-0 down! Not sure what the instructions were from the coaches were at HT, if any, but if the players decided to just go for it...for whatever time ETH has at OT he should just tell the players to play that 45 min again and again, preferably for 90 min!

From 30 minutes on we were fantastic and thoroughly deserved the win.One thing we cannot say is that these players aren't playing for EtH, I thought Rashford looked the best he has in a long time.No talk of Villa were shit please we gifted them 2 goals we deserved that tonight. So pleased for Hojlund.

Delighted with the win! Did not see that coming.
Don`t want to take away much from our performance but Villas defensive strategy was, kind of playing into our hands. We had countless of balls over their backline tonight, and no response from Emery. And they felt a bit flat overall tonight, maybe they turned off after 2-0 up? Considering our form i kind of understand it.
Hopefully this can inject some fire and belief into both players and manager going forward.

Why can’t we press from the front and play with that intensity every week and when the game starts 0-0?? We were all over Villa tonight but these type of performances are few and far between.

Pleasing thing about this win (which makes me hope this will not be another false dawn):

  • Rashford performance - really positive, if he keeps this up, we will climb up the table
  • Garnacho works on the right and could solve our blunt right hand side
  • 2 midfielders (rather than McTom) with Bruno - I actually think if we kept with this, we'd be a lot closer to the top.

Major worry is the keeper for me. He doesn't fill me with confidence. For me, he rarely saves good shots if that makes sense. Every save he manages are saves you'd expect a pro keeper to make, and any thing close to the posts seems to be a goal this season

What a result! It was terrible to go 2 down, we weren’t very good, but after that, we actually showed some great character and some pride to come back. Garnacho was excellent and glad Hojlund is off the mark in the league.

Delighted for Hojlund obviously, rarely a goal more deserved than that.

The youth players will be huge for building the team around going forward.

It reminds of Boxing day 1989 when a young United team came back from 1-0 to beat Liverpool 3-1. That was one of the first indications that Fergie was getting it right after an indifferent start to the season. And young players. The United way...
I was there that day on the Utd Road the term Fergies Fledgings was born.

The first time our attack has worked for a long time. Annoying it took so long to try Garnacho on the right. With Amad also coming back to fitness we might finally have a functional right flank. Important for Bruno to be protected as well so he can run the attack.

In many ways it shows just how bad our selections and tactics have been in many other games.

So annoyed about the first two goals, was expecting an avalanche, just stupidity,. Then that
The players are looking like they actually have some pride and more importantly wanted to save the managers job. Maybe Gernacho right and Rashford left us the long term solution. Need my voice back.

Well deserved win in the end, a much improved 2nd half performance but we need to start games with such intensity, hopefully we’ll see this more going forwards.

We have 1 PL game in Jan, we need to be on that training pitch getting our tactics sorted for the rest of the year!
Hopefully get some of our injured players back before end of January. Then let’s start playing from the get go like we did 2nd half. Season is not over yet - if the players really want it we can go on a good run.

Good second half performance. Villa played right into our hands.

Can we back it up Away at Forest or is it just another Chelsea.

Emery saying they were brilliant first 60 mins, nonsense. Straight after their second goal, we were all over them.

We seem to like games on Amazon!

I thought we will capitulate but that reminded me of last season so maybe it’s a confidence thing. I don’t know anymore.

Our attacking players have benefited from Villa’s insane high line tactics today, which I thought was pretty stupid particularly when they were 2-0 up at half time.

Nevertheless hopefully this gives the team some much needed confidence to build on their goal scoring ability, only time will tell if they can replicate against the low blocks.

I really like the number of young players we have in and around the first team squad at the moment. Today we started with two teenagers and a 20 year old, brought on another 18, 19 and 20 year old.

Not all of them will make it but I do think mainoo and garnacho will and hojlund and kambwala have very good chances too. That alone gives me a bit of hope for the future of the team even if things have been rotten of late.

Tonight we were brilliant. Best we have played in ages. Need to back it up v forest who also had a great result today.

Can't figure out the insane schizophrenic nature of this team but that 2nd half was a lot of fun to watch. Maybe being so beholden to the inverted winger tactic doesn't make sense for this team. Clearly wasn't working for s***. Garnacho running more direct at them from the right was beautiful. Rashford looked more like the confident player he was last season. Mainoo was solid. Ericksen looked good and was pinging dangerous passes that we've been missing. Dalot and AWB did their jobs. Varane was ok after kind of being responsible for the 2nd goal.

Wish I could've been with my mate who was there at the game today to experience the feeling of when Hojlund's goal went in.

Negatives...Onana has to learn how to dominate his box. There's no excuse for the 1st goal. Fernandes' passing and decision making just keeps getting worse. He can't complete a cross and is frequently doing the opposite of what the moment calls for. That and the incessant whining that led to yet another stupid yellow.

Outstanding result from the depths of that first half. Didn't see this coming at all. Would be really really really really nice to see that for 90 against Nottingham this Sunday.

Hadn't seen a comment. What was the deal with Shaw today?

Good second half, but any experienced team doesn't let you back in after half time.

If you can't do it from minute one then you'll never win anything.
