Mainoo is so freaking good. I get why some said city tried to get him from us.

Still horrible played football. We are so unbalanced as a team. Wrong decisions over and over.

can someone explain why Hannibal needed to get destroyed with a 2 min sub ?

Can’t believe there are still people complaining about a victory, that we didn’t win by more. This could’ve been 6 or 7, our finishing just keeps letting us down. This was a comfortable victory and one that I’ve seen gone wrong plenty of times over the years involving big clubs. Onto the next round we go.

Get in there.

Not entirely sure why it needed a full strength 11 or no substitutions until the game was almost over but anyway.

Struggling to recall a game where we totally and utterly dominated in such a fashion, and yet I come away annoyed by the performance.

Given the opposition, we were poor.
Mainoo MOTM for me, MCoist is deluded.

We need another striker in order for Hojland to have some time in the reserves and get his confidence,
Have to give Onan a high rating just for the save on 3mins, if that goes in we are on the back foot and struggling to score.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so bored watching us have 33 shots on goal

We should have had a few more goals tonight but finished really poorly.

Garnacho played really right but it must be really difficult for him playing in a front 3 with one of the worst Centre Forwards in the Premier League and a wasteful (and often lazy) Rashford on the other side.

This team rarely ceases to frustrate. Dire finishing, should have been 4 at halftime.
Thank god for the academy players this season.
Garnacho gets motm for me just ahead of Mainoo because he put in the best right winger performance of the season. Should have had a great assist from actually crossing the ball.

Dalot was good too and the centre backs. The rest were poor.

Excited to see Mainoo develop.

Through to the next round with a winnable game there.

The sort of level our strollers look fairly comfortable at.
A decent united side would have won that by 7 or 8.
Decent performances from Mainoo, Evans, Garnacho and Dalot. Rashford...it's time to hang up your boots son.

Looking for Eric
Mainoo and Garna excellent, Rasmus gets crowded out in the box by McT. Garna far better on the right again and needs to be kept there.

33 attempts. 14 on target and only 2 goals. One being a penalty. Wish players would stop coming out saying the goals will come. ETH as been saying that all season and yet they still haven’t come. We couldn’t score in an empty net.

Agreed. The question is who do we start on the left if Garnacho is on the right. Rashford is poor and shouldn’t play again.

Where the grass is greener.
All things considered, pretty pathetic. Glad to win and go through, but we should be putting that level of side to bed comfortably, and scoring with relative ease.

We're an infuriating team to witness.

People talking like we just beat City or something.

2-0 with our strongest team available against 18th in League 1 where one goal was a penalty.

It was a poor win. This should have been an easy win playing 25% kids.

What is the point of Scott McTominay?
To get in the attackers way and AM position. I don’t get how when playing in CM he’s forever in either the AM position or in the ST position. He’s a big problem.

Let’s be honest it was very comfortable tonight. Anyone trying to paint another picture is a moron.

That said Hojlund and Rashford are becoming real issues.

I swear if our forwards could start to convert chances this season would still not be great but the narrative somewhat different. Even Bruno can’t seem to strike a ball. Crazy that Garnacho is the best of the bunch at 19 currently.

Job done.

Could have and should have scored more. Then again, United aren't exactly firing on all fronts going forward.

Mainoo had a top game in midfield, looks a player, hope he continues.

Yeah, it’s a tricky one. If Garnacho continues this form on the right then we will actually need a left winger instead

We could try Martial there since that was always his favoured position, im sure Mason Mount would be able to play there as well.

He's not playing CM. This season we've been mostly playing him as an AM, so that's why he's up there.

He should still be helping out the central midfield more than he does, but it's ETH's decision to only play one central midfielder this season.

I thought Wigan had some tidy players. Might have been a different game if their early effort had squeezed under Onana. Obv we should have score 4 or 5 and put it to bed by HT.

Fernandez going down was a joke - slightest touch and no way in a pen IMO. I disagree with the 'There was contact so he's entitled to go down'. Bollocks to that.

Garnacho MOTM easliy. Showed more attacking intent and end result in 90 mins that Antony has since we signed him.

Martial has always preferred striker. If he could stay fit he might still be our best on the left anyway, but unfortunately that's not happening.

Hopefully Amad comes back and does well, then we can play him on the right with Garnacho moving back to the left.

Very comfortable game. Should have been a more dominant scoreline but for the usual wasteful finishing.

I thought it was a penalty - a little soft, maybe, but a reckless tackle from the defender and a definite foul, so a penalty for me. Though I was half hoping it wasn't given as I've got close family who are Wigan fans and they've got such a chip on their shoulder about 'big clubs getting penalties' (especially us), so now, despite dominating and deserving a 4 or 5 goal win, they've now got their thing to moan about and blame the official. Would have loved us to convert more of this goals in open play instead!

And a lovely draw for the fourth round. So a rare good day this season.

Because it's against a side that's 18th in League One? Play like that against Premier League opposition and we will get dispatched.

Agreed, goals will not come when you have Rashford who takes so long to decides and players running into each other. Time to drop Rashford back to the bench, I feel he thinks he is as good as Neymar or Messi.

Solid performance. Mainoo MOTM. Rashford and Garnacho with excellent wing performances and generally a solid team display. Didn’t look like we picked up any injuries either, so should be good to send out a similar team versus Spurs (I’d probably drop Scott for Eriksen ideally).

Yep. Also, you can tell his MOTM award was just being lazy and he’d not been paying attention. One of the Wigan lads went off and he said he’d thought he’d had a good game but you could hear in his voice he didn’t have a clue who the lad was or what he’d done in the game.

For once the players appeared to be fully focussed throughout the match, bar a couple of minor lapses in concentration; but a better team would have punished those. Tonight should have seen us get 4 or 5 goals but too often, again, the final pass was wayward or players tried to walk the ball into the net on top of Hojlund failing to put away a couple of sitters; but at least hes trying and the goals will come. And whats this new corner routine? What purpose does it serve except leave us short in the box? Next up is either Newport or Keithly, away, so its pretty certain our FA Cup run will continue to the 5th round, but from then on its anybodys guess how far we'll go.

Pretty lame game, but a win's a win

Feel sorry for Hojlund, has a great opportunity for a goal taken away from him by DiddlySquat McTominay

He'd probably have missed it anyway...
