I find Brobbey interesting but the timing is wrong.
He could have been an interesting signing when he was leaving Leipzig and we could have signed him for 12 M as a 2nd/3rd option. We were linked with him but he went back to Ajax. Now I guess we'd have to pay much more for a player with the same exact risks as two years ago.
And after signing Hojlund there's no margin for punts or potential, we need someone up front with more guarantees.
I'd get someone on loan if possible as I don't expect Martial to do much in the coming months, leaving the next permanent transfer for the new structure based on whatever they want to build. Signing Brobbey (or anyone) permanently now would be ridiculous.

Imagine thinking that someone on the cusp of the first team at Manchester United is going to improve materially playing at Port Vale in League One. This club man. They couldn't get him a loan in a top tier league anywhere?
Any realistic chance we sign anyone in Jan? all the talk seems like its for the summer..

There's no chance of a new signing in January unless it's on loan.
Port Vale have done well in the first half season with Oliver Arblaster (now recalled to Shef Utd) and Alfie Devine recalled and loaned to a championship team.
Dan Gore is in the same position, talented, a bit lightweight and needing first team experience.
Port Vale play possession football in league 1 and got to the League cup QF, which allowed Arblaster and Devine to prosper.
My view is this is a good fit, he will benefit, Port Vale benefit and ultimately Manchester United benefit.
I think we've a new plan with our youth players. Depending on the physicality of the player they'll start with a loan at a lower league where their ability should make up for the physical weaknesses. Then they move up the next year either to a higher division or get embedded into the first team. I think after that they'll decide whether to keep you or let you go. So after 2-3 years of being too good for the academy you're either in or out

Pellistri is too old but not good enough to really decide his future yet but I doubt he stays past this summer
Mainoo and Garnacho skipped this because they were deemed ready
It may be a good team but the issue is the quality of opposition. How much better can he get playing against league one oppostion (all due respect to the teams in that league)?
At 19 it is more of a case of it being is it better for him to play in our U-21's or against better opposition in more competitive games?
Championship sides don't really have the room to play about, it's so close between Promotion and Playoffs that if you weren't factored into plans at the start of the year then you will only be a stop gap at this point.
He's in a competitive environment, relatively close to Manchester for his first move "away" and there is potentially 1800+ minutes on offer down there, which will cumulatively be worth way more than 100+ minutes in the Prem + FA Cup (realistically).

I doubt Beckham really developed during his time at Preston - it was more that he was so impressive in those few matches that Ferguson were convinced he was ready. He only played 5 matches there.

Totally appreciate we have less games compared to last season,however just feel we could do with someone experienced to help Rasmus until the summer but not sure who
Alfie Divine (Spurs) and Ollie Arblaster (Sheff Utd) have just both had very successful loan spells at Vale where I felt they were developed on and off the pitch and have come away as better footballers and young lads.
Vale also have James Wilson and Tom Sang in their ranks who are both ex reds and I feel that the coaching setup and club values will only improve Dan Gore as a player and a person. He will probably pair up in a midfield 3 with fellow Brighton Loanee Jensen Weir and Tom Sang who will look to playing a passing / attacking style of football.
Having watched a number of Vale matches I personally think Gore is at the right club for the rest of the season, we obviously see value in sending him there rather than Preston as Liverpool have loaned them Rhys Williams too.
