Bruno epitomizes everything wrong with our passing and general play.
Many will look at the stats, see he scored the penalty, and will claim that he had a good game. There's more to it than that, in my opinion.
He was once again very creative in the final third. All of our attacks came through him.

Can Amorim even make use of Fernandes at this point?
His bad habits have been going on for so long, is it a case that Fernandes doesn't know any other way anymore?
He is far from the player that he was in the first 2 seasons for us. It's like he's trying to be captain fantastic making things happen. Sometimes keeping the ball is more rewarding than just aimlessly giving the ball away.

What were they? Can you list them because I genuinely can’t remember. Sofascore has him down as an expected assist of 0.10. Casemiro (who made the best chance of the game) had a 0.21.
He also had the biggest chance of the game (outside of the penalty and Palmer’s miss) which he massively wasted.
What about the chance he skied into the stands?
I can see it ending not so greatly if Fernandes is still playing at this level maybe 5-6 months down the line under Amorim. I think there will be an instant bump in quality but I just think Bruno Fernandes the player has regressed a few levels over the past 18 months.
His lack of technical ability is showing.
I would have felt somewhat hopeful that the Fernandes of a few years ago could really refine his game and add some much-needed composure to his game as it’s his biggest flaw by a country-mile and manifests itself in poor passing, decision-making and rash finishing.
His technical ability/level is high but he’ll continue to oscillate between a capable playmaker and midfield liability if he can’t get that under control. Fear that it’s way too late in the day and Amorim won’t be able to accommodate him either.

No mention of the sitter he missed, though. Strange that.
Any way, creatively he was good. Just lacks in general play, and his finishing is absolutely dreadful these days.

Big chance number 1:
A perfect cross to the back post where Rashford stands completely alone roughly 5 yards from goal and fires off a volley. It hits the woodwork.

Inside the box he pretends to cross, cuts back and squares the ball on a platter to Garnacho who has an open shot on goal from roughly 10 yards out. But his shot is shit and the goalkeeper has no problem catching it.
Big chance number 3:
This is not a chance according to stats, but it should be. Bruno plays an perfect volleyed through-ball with his heel and our striker is alone on goal. The problem is that the striker is Zirkzee with a top speed of roughly 8 mph. The defenders catch up to him almost instantly and the chance is gone.
Not sure would a player who has another couples of years left in his contract, and also being the vocal point in the team since he has arrived might make it less likely he would me moved on.
Still alot of quality is needed before he goes in INEOS eyes. But then again, hopefully Amorim has an idea on what he might want.

'Sitter' is a bit of an exaggeration for a volley from 15 yards out. What was the xg of that 'sitter'?
1 was good, Rashford does poorly and should go across goal - not sure I’d call it a “big chance” but that’s just semantics. 2 completely agree. Wouldn’t really call 3 a big chance, it was a good pass but we all knew what was happening there in the end. Edit: and for all Zirkzee’s negativity there was still a lot to do in the end.
Perhaps, but he actually did have more time than he thought. He could have taken a touch and placed it, or just smash it, but not like that. It looked like a frustration shot.

An open shot from 5 yards out with plenty of time to adjust your body and aim is 100% a big chance, but yes I don't want to discuss semantics either. As for number 3: if that is any other striker with acceptable pace then he's alone vs the goalkeeper.
Bruno's volleyed shot near the end was bad for sure, but in terms of creativity he had a very good game.
He's been decent recently. I think most on here don't seem to realise take him out of the team and we create absolutely zilch.
Two “big chances” (if we give you no.1) across 90 mins is doing good game creativity? Fair enough — I think that’s right to what current level Fernandes does offer you these days. If we’re in acceptance that his level has generally declined, then yeah, fairs.

Absolutely rubbish again
You realize that most top teams don't necessarily create that many big chances across a game of football right? It's not uncommon to leave the pitch with 2 or 3 big chances created, even when you win and have more possession.
You don't need to create big chances to score goals though. Sometimes you score from a distance. Sometimes the opponent is sloppy inside the box. Etc. But it's obviously a very useful weapon to have. I'd argue that it's as useful as a clinical striker.
One or two good chances created off the cuff in moments against a backdrop of 90 minutes of awful play in basic movements and tight spaces.
