What are the actual benefits to playing with 3 at the back? I get that this team isn't suited to it, but just in general what benefits does it bring? Especially with this system where you're cutting out wingers. Just seems far too niche and will make recruitment that much harder than it already is.

Yes, of course he should adapt to his squad. All managers should. I can’t believe anybody could disagree with that.

I can’t work out why we started fairly positively with Mazraoui at centre back, Amad at wing back. At one point in a game he wasn’t playing a single centre back. We’ve now gone to five defenders and a defensive midfielder, and the results have got worse. most Amorim watchers were saying before he joined that this wouldn’t happen.

No. He could pick Amad and Antony. This formation is way too cautious when your wing-backs are not attackers. It’s very obvious for anyone watching us.
He's alienated Rashford, rightly so imo. Now is the time to be really brave and drop our poor excuse for a captain. I'm convinced we're a better unit without Fernandes. Shifting he and Rashford in January would help us with funds and enable some players to be brought in that actually fit this system.

In theory it provides a good rest defence while not sacrificing too much offensively like a flat back four would. You need the right players for it though, the RCB and LCB have to be very athletic.
We were playing better under ETH earlier this season than we are now (and I hate ETH as much as the next man).
It is so obvious that this is true. I don't know why people just post about transfers endlessly. We want to build a new stadium. The squad is not as bad as these performances, Amorim just needs to focus on that and improve performances, which to be fair I believe he is focussed on, just the fans that are not.

It seems players don't respond to the new coach. I assume it is because he is asking them to train hard, something completely new for these merchants.

In the past seven games, we’ve conceded eight goals from set pieces. Ignoring all the talk of square pegs and round holes, we’ve got to be doing a whole lot better with the players we already have. We sure as hell can’t keep letting corners sail straight in.

3 losses in the next 3 games, 6 losses in a row, yes he would be. That would be a record no united Manager would have achieved in recent memory. This is an ownership who paid to get Ashworth in, only to sack him 6 months later. So of course the manager would be in a precarious position.
Tbh, I like Amorim and what his sporting side did and I'm all behind him for being successful. However, his short reign here has been overhyped. I don't think this team, low on confidence can make top 4/5. I also don't think this team low on confidence should be finishing bottom half of the table. I also don't think, whether in transition or not, that a United team should potentially lose 6 in a row. Lets see what happens. I hope he turns it around though. Im fine with us finishing 7th/8th/9th, bottom half though I'm not.

Agreed. Yes, our attackers are poor but we're really not helping ourselves with the squad selections. The team already struggles with scoring goals and we've decided to play even less attackers.
