He can't stay in the 10 position either, keeps on drifting out to the wing, there were a couple of time when Maz inverted and he was out wide.
I can't believe that's what Ruben wants them to do.

They are terrible, but it’s abundantly obvious that these players have given up on the manager. They aren’t onboard with this new system at all.
 
Didn't we also pay £12m to sign him from Sporting? Paying money for managers in general never works out.
 
Hmm, today's team selection seriously made me question how much trust to put in him. It would be brave (foolhardy?) to spend a load of money buying players specifically for his system at this stage.

This is about these players having no fitness to press regularly during this hectic period. We actually started well when Amorim came. The moment we have more games coming through, they have no stamina to do that game after game and it’s clearly showing.
 
Carragher has just shown it in commentary, there's just too much space in the middle by playing this system, we need to close it up and get more bodies in there. We can blame players but the coaching staff have made it incredibly difficult for the players, we're not playing to our strengths at all.

It's not a poisoned chalice if the coach matches the strengths of the players. With Amorim it clearly and obviously does not.

To get to the point where we can play 343 effectively it's going to take a lot of selling and a lot of buying. Just dropping Amorim in there and expecting magic was the height of idiocy on the part of our football board.

From what we've seen at Nice, it's not out of question for Berrada, Wilcox and Amorim to all be gone by summer. Sir Jim has invested in a vanity project, he doesn't want to be known as the man who relegated Man Utd. If this keeps up there's gonna be some blame going around...

...I dread what's going to happen at Liverpool next.

Amad is the only player suitable for LWB, RWB, LF and RF in this system. He can't play more than one of them at a time.

I do think we looked best with Amad RWB though. Seems the Rashford fall out put that on the back burner.

But EtH has tried everyones team selection and over for over a year, his tried the beloved formation everyone on here is saying to revert back to - and look at those results that got him sacked

What makes you think a different team selection option he had tried today will get him wins?

Unless he's bringing new players out of the team bus today whatever he'll try I will NOT have confidence

Most of those players you mentioned were extremely athletic or at the least played with absolute intensity. Navas was one of the fastet players in Europe.
Aguero, Rodents, Zabaleta, Jesus , Nasri and Mahrez were all good to great athletes. The Silva's are outliers but have other worldly skills.
 
People complaining about the midfield and Zirkzee starting, who should he have started over them? Mainoo was the only one available and he's been awful in his last games.
Our squad is paper thin when it comes to PL fit players and with Bruno and Ugarte out these are the players he has available.

The other issue, they've had basically feck all time to train with him. We got him in after the last international break, and brought him in for the busiest time of the year.

Same as Rangnick basically, when most other competent clubs make this sort of change before the October international break which gives you 2 breaks before the summer for the coach to train with the players.

He did win a header and some tackles, but offered nothing going forward. Then again, Ericksen and Casemiro have been just as useless.
 
We need a full reset. And that will involve the majority of this current squad leaving. Something is rotten at the core and the rot spreads quickly to anyone joining the squad.

Nar, Ruud is the only one of the 3 that went back to bread and butter simple stuff, and unsurprisingly we looked miles better and got better results.

Ten Hag mostly played 4-1-4-1. He was obsessed with trying to have two #10s like a poundshop Pep.

When Ruud came in he immediately used Ugarte and Casemiro as a double pivot and we improved. It wasn't revolutionary but it wasn't relegation form, which is what we are showing now.

If we stick with 343 the target is 40 points and nobody can be confident in hitting it. Mark my words.
 
It’s a squad who know they’re getting ripped apart for not delivering. Rashford and Casemiro will be gone in the coming months, Lindelof, Maguire, Eriksen in the summer

Biggest problem at Utd is actually the unathleticism and motivation.
 
I don’t mind him sticking to his preferred formation. But starting zirkzee when we had Casemiro and Eriksen in the centre seemed like a big gamble.
 
I'm not interested in more excuses for these players. I'd rather see most of them leave before they throw another manager under the bus by packing up their tools. Pathetic.
 
The game’s not over yet, but the reality is that Amorim will ultimately be judged on performances and results—and so far, we’ve yet to see anything truly convincing since his arrival. I understand he’s trying something completely new, and these things take time, but some of the decisions tonight were definitely questionable.

Yes, we’ve had players out, but it doesn’t take a tactical genius to see that pairing Eriksen with Casemiro wasn’t the best choice. Playing Zirkzee as a 10 and deploying De Ligt as a wide center-back are decisions I would have thought Amorim wouldn’t need to be cautioned against.

Now, before anyone twists my words, let me be clear: I’m not for a second suggesting Amorim isn’t good enough. I’m a firm believer in him and his potential. But as things stand, I can only critique what’s in front of me.
