It’s amazing how much we seem to regress with each new manager in. Not even a bounce anymore. Losing is the norm now. The small bit of hope I had with Ineos turning our sorrow around has been shredded and I’ve come to the point I do not believe we can set a good structure in place in which managers and players can thrive.

You have to be pretty thick to think Amorim couldn’t do as “well” as the previous bloke if he’d happily play chaos no style shit ball where the players just had to go for it Willy nilly as there was no midfield and no control. That wasn’t a style that was capable of consistently achieving anything. We had a good year and a half of papering over the cracks crap, desperate management to keep someone in a job, and you’ve got people who would actually prefer to see that again because….we won a few more games?

Personally it's a + for me. The amount of frankly embarrassing mental gymnastics we've seen from previous managers trying to justify torrid stuff it's refreshing to hear a manager who actually says what everyone thinks. How that will work for him, who knows.. But we've tried the managers shielding the players after another failure approach and it was hardly a raging success.
It is nothing like what Moyes said. He said what is a fact. And if that pisses of the beloved players they can join Ole or Jose or even better eth when he gets some job.
What does going back to the drawing board mean though? We are unlikely to replace the whole squad in the next few years so making best use of the existing squad is going to be critical
Biggest problem for Amorim is that we’ve had an delusional board + managers who’s been spending a sh*t load of money on really awful players. I mean we’ve spent billions on really shocking material and still do. And now we’re seem to be broke? Just perfect.

Why do people keep saying this like 4231 is a discredited formation. The issue under EtH was going full crazy transition ball, not the formation. Ruud stodging the midfield with 2 DMs and toning that down was enough to get some better results. And even under EtH, some of the performances this season were actually better than the results (eg West Ham away we actually battered them but missed sitters etc).
He even told them and made sure to go public that he wanted to start next summer he knew exactly what sort of shit show he was walking into
You can’t come in to a failing team, completely change how they play and plan to sell off 3-4 of the top earners (Rashford, Case, Antony) and not be backed it’s absolutely pointless and nothing but failure will result from it
It's a massive problem that so many of our senior players who are supposed to be our leaders and carry the biggest weight are either not good enough anymore (Casemiro, Eriksen), doesn't give a shit (Rashford), or are constantly injured (Mount, Shaw). 4 of those players are supposed to be starters, and 3 of them are paid as if they should be our best and most important players, and instead they are not playing at all, which in turn puts way too much responsibility on the shoulders of our young players.
Let me be clear here, this is not what I said, I stated that if the club doesn’t back him in the transfer market, he can not continue to play 5221 and should use the youth available to him in the short term to galvanise the squad by giving them minutes and inject some youthful energy into the squad.
Now if we buy a couple of elite players, then we don’t need to use the youth prospects but the chance of INEOS buying Amorim any players are less than 5 percent right now!
Go give the club the money then if you have it, and buy new stadium also!

There are more managers out there besides Ten Hag and Amorim. Ten Hag was almost in possession of whatever personnel needed to execute his famous donut formation, De Ligt, Yoro, Mount would have finally cracked the case.
In comes Amorim. He needs 2 wingbacks, 2 strikers, a goalkeeper, and a left wing. So 6 top players and he/we will be lucky to get 1 this window and 2 the next. The rest of this season is a write off, and next season. But the 2026-27 season is when he’ll have his pieces and can play his system—unless there’s an injury, a player doesn’t work out, a different manager works out how to effectively snuff the 343.

The issue is Amorim is actually getting worse results than EtH. And actually the more time he's getting we are not looking like magically we will be better next season either. If you were to name players this formation actually suits you'd probably at best say Maguire and Mount.
Yes I think Amorim has to be bolder overall to get more results to climb up the table.

Today even with Zirkzee on playing better than Hojlund the team still couldn't manage a shot on target. Only chance we had was through a crazy foul for a penalty, we weren't scoring today any other way. Today and against Southampton have been appalling.
