I used them collectively for the attack in comparison to today. Relax and stop turning it into an issue.
Feck off using love heart smilies for MG![]()
This post is a reminder of the fifa playing modern football fan, where they think by changing formation, play pacey players everything will be rosey.. This isn't the real world.. tactics, philosophies, styles are fundamentals that most top managers these days stick by.. Amorim was hired for having just that.. A system that he knows and has always coached and has worked for him, so it would be bonkers to change that now because the poor players can't play it. Those who can't, will be coached to learn it, and if there is no hope, then they'll be replaced. In this system, the wingbacks are specialists and are the most important part of the team, and until he gets them, it's going to be tough. He's the right person for the job, and will turn it around. It's not his fault that the club had a terrible terrible manager and a board just as bad during the last few years, but one has to admire RA for believing that he will turn it around. That's untrue. ETHs second season, you played 433 not 4231. He moved from a double pivot to isolating an aging Casemiro in midfield with Mount and Bruno in the 8s. Those two together provide zero balance and wrecked the cohesion from your 22/23 campaign.
There was also many injuries and it seemed some mismanagement.
Amorim not coaching a system before is irrelevant. Footballs about principles regardless of the system. People like you just overcomplicate a simple game. Coaching is far too overemphasized in modern football than it actually is. This is why I feel Pep has confused a lot of football people; fans, pundits etc. The game is simple, pick a system and style which suits your players confidently perform and win matches.
Too many football manager heads nowadays
"He has always coached" He has only been a coach for about 5 years, so it's not that longThis post is a reminder of the fifa playing modern football fan, where they think by changing formation, play pacey players everything will be rosey.. Yeah, if you're Porto or Benfica. Not if you are the mess that Amorim inherited at Sporting.Won the Portuguese league twice, a very easy 3 team league.
ETH was very successful in a minor league and the CL when he was hired..."He has always coached" He has only been a coach for about 5 years, so it's not that long
"Has worked for him". Won the Portuguese league twice, a very easy 3 team league.
He didn't go and win a European cup with Sporting or anything.
This is a massive step-up for him. He should also be on trial, just like the players.
He isn't a young Mourinho.
Really? Lost to Spurs in the Semi final. By Pochetino..ETH was very successful in a minor league and the CL when he was hired...
Agree with most of what you've said, but it's not diabolical that we've not brought any new players in given he started with the season already underway.Diabolical they'd bring him and not bring in a single new player. With that said, I wouldn't get too attached that obviously tells me they expect significant improvement out of the current crop and I'm not sure you're going to see that. It really can go either way.
Think that Southampton game papered over some cracks, they were thoroughly out played for large parts of the game. That's really worrisome. Yet at the same time they looked like they knew what they were doing vs Liverpool. That's why I say I think it can go either way but one thing I'm pretty certain of is there is no new first 11 coming anytime soon. He's got to prove at sone point he can get this group going.
So easy Sporting hadn't won it for 18 years..."He has always coached" He has only been a coach for about 5 years, so it's not that long

True, but Sporting is valued more than Porto and Benfica so maybe it isnt as difficult as it seems. So easy Sporting hadn't won it for 18 years...
Were they when he took over? Genuinely no ideaTrue, but Sporting is valued more than Porto and Benfica so maybe it isnt as difficult as it seems.
Me either to be honestWere they when he took over? Genuinely no idea
ExactlySo easy Sporting hadn't won it for 18 years...
The guy has barely been through the door and is trying to essentially change the whole approach to our game, having joined mid-season, while playing twice a week with arguably our worst squad in recent history.
Liverpool didn't hire Amorim because of his system. Liverpool realise that changing system is a big thing. Of course it is easier to manage Liverpool than United. I have no clue if Amorim or Slot is the better coach.Exactly
And coming to EPL, managing a club of the size of United is a step up for almost any coach. So what
It was possibly even bigger step up for Arne Slot to join Liverpool from Feyenoord. In no way is Feyenoord bigger club than Sporting, neither is Netherlands stronger league than Portugal. And Slot seems to be fine. Why? Because he didn't inherit a shit squad, leftovers from 12 years of utter mismanagement. Amorim did
That is the difference. I am certain Amorim is not worse coach than Slot
To be fair Liverpool had a good squad and system, we have neither in comparison.Liverpool didn't hire Amorim because of his system. Liverpool realise that changing system is a big thing. Of course it is easier to manage Liverpool than United. I have no clue if Amorim or Slot is the better coach.
Did he say in the pl era? I thought he said worst United team in historySaying we should aspire like Man city in 2013 when we were champions was a stupid statement. But it is a fact that in PL era this the worst performing United side. Everyone says that and the manager has also said the same.
Your comparison doesn't even make any sense.
Our formation is -not- working. I know he said he'd stick to his plan, but we've not kept a single clean sheet since he's been in charge, we are getting dominated by every single team we play, and we don't have a shred of balance. Our talent pool isn't great but - we are not actually worse man for man than these teams we are getting outplayed by.
It's currently working as a back 5 but it's not working as a 3-4-3, as soon as we attempt to push the full backs on, we look all over the placeWe're not being dominated by every single team we play. We went to the Etihad, Anfield and the Emirates (specifically the league game moreso than the FA Cup), the 3 toughest away grounds in English football, and pretty much matched them for possession and limited their opportunities from open play.
We hadn't done that in years, we're used to surviving on 20% possession there, having 10 men behind the ball and hoping to nick a goal on the counter. Hell we hadn't even scored a goal in Anfield in 6 years and this time we scored 2 and could have had a few more!
Nobody was complaining about the formation after those games! We've seen it can work if it's done right, but we need better quality players to do it consistently, rather than one off games.

It was indeed idiotic move from INEOS to hire a coach with radically different system, in October, with no money or intention to buy him playersLiverpool didn't hire Amorim because of his system. Liverpool realise that changing system is a big thing. Of course it is easier to manage Liverpool than United. I have no clue if Amorim or Slot is the better coach.
Be interesting what Arse Slot does next season when he loses Salah, TAA and possibly VDV.Liverpool didn't hire Amorim because of his system. Liverpool realise that changing system is a big thing. Of course it is easier to manage Liverpool than United. I have no clue if Amorim or Slot is the better coach.
Eredivisie has ranked higher than the Portugese league for quite some years now, might switch after this season again. Don't think there's much of a difference.Exactly

It's a very small group and movement. I've seen a lot of Glazer , Woodward sympathizers over the years that would rather harp on about Jose, Ragnick, even Ole instead. Most of all welcoming in Ratcliff because English. Those fans that have protested for about twenty years, despite having no hope of forcing the arseholes out. The fans are the best thing about this club.
He won't last that long. And don't forget, you assuming he will not lose the dressing room until then. Inability to hold on with some respectable performances at home will be his undoing. Make the best out of it until reinforcements arrive. He is so hung up on his the one tactic. So, say even he successfully implemented his style, you all better be praying no team finds a way around to beat it. God forbid, he needs to leave football for good then.Next season, this year is all about pain until May I think. With a good summer window and full preseason we should see a much different beast. Then he can be judged fairly.
SAF dominated the League, playing 4-4-2 for decades. Were teams just plain stupid at that time, couldn't find a way around to beat it.He won't last that long. Most successful managers come in and replace a significant portion of the starting eleven, yes.We have been in this perpetual cycle of every new manager that come in need entire starting 11 players to play their so called style of play. Is it only us? because all other PL team don't seem to have this problem.
Since he's been here we've been playing 2 games a week, pretty much every week, add to that recovery after every game where you don't usually train, plus travelling the day before away games has meant very few training sessions. New managers almost always have a transfer window and a preseason to train the squad and prepare them for the season. The part I don't understand is why he keeps saying they have only 5 or 6 or 7 training session together. It has been a few months already and they should be able to squeeze in more training session between the games?
He needs to improve fast. PL is brutal there is no time for him to implement his system gradually. Everything is at F1 pace in PL.
