Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach | Thread locked during matches

Very interesting game of football. Amorim will not make a change at half time - why would he - when the system is working perfectly. Takes just a Hojlund sitter to put this tie to bed.

He’s very very raw but you’d have to be blind not to see Dorgu’s influence on this system (not so much the player but the profile of the player) .it bodes well for the system if we get better players.

First time this season I've seen us take the game to the opposition from the start and sustain attacks throughout the game. More of the same please, Ruben.

He has gotten us to start playing some proper football again in recent weeks.

I guess a few posters won't be showing up in this thread for a few days :(

Fantastic performance from the team. The players are playing for each other and seem bought in to Amorims style. Zirkzee was immense, Bruno clinical and Dorgu caused them problems all night. The kid was playing like a young Antonio Valencia.

Deserved to beat Arsenal despite the draw. Deserved to win tonight, with some great football on display. He's stopped the losing runs. Finally we look like we're making some real progress under him.

Well well well

It wasn't randomly though.
We keep persisting, pushing and training and we get better. That's how it's done.

Good managers don't change the system on every hurdle. Unlike some redcafe members seem to believe.

I reckon we have been subtly improving since the Everton game. Pressing is much more effective, creating more quality chances. Some good signs. Lack of a reliable finisher has cost us big time.

Excellent tonight (we were very good in the 1st leg as well). The kind of game at which you can point and say we're progressing which is the most important thing atm.

I so hope he's backed in the summer. Give him the players he wants and we will be fine.

The potential is there IF he gets the correct tools for the job.

Played well today. We're so much better in the Europa league where we can physically compete and even out muscle teams. He said as much. I think it is clear what the common attribute of the players we will be targetting is likely to be. I just hope tecnhique is a close second.

Starting to see signs of things of coming together starting with the Ipswich game. Hopefully he will get a front 3 that he is happy with next season and things could start looking upwards.

System has started to click with Amorim fully committing to Bruno as an 8 and with proper wing backs playing on their correct side. Bruno in that deeper role dictating play is definitely something we can build around now. Just need a more physical presence next to him.

With a more clinical striker, a proper RWB, and another midfielder who can pass the ball, the system will look even better.

Agreed, let's hope we can extend it to at least 5-6 games and that a few players return from injury.

In fairness to Amorim, although I'm not a believer, we have been improving from a low baseline.

I would really love to win the Europa League. I think it would help everyone buy into his project a bit more (myself included).

Was a bit worried by our pressing structure early in the first half, particularly with how high the wing backs were getting and how easy it was making for Sociedad to get through us. But he seemed to adjust it a little bit to be more of a 4-4-2 out of possession, with Dorgu very high, and Dalot dropping in. That stemmed the bleeding and from there, while we weren't spectacular, we never really looked like losing.

My dream outcome would be by this time next year we're all discussing if we can beat Arsenal's 50 game domestic unbeaten record or whatever it was. I don't believe but I'd like to. I really would. Be great to be proven wrong.

United are a quality Europa League side so it's always a good watch at this level.

A nice confidence boost for some of the players who have taken a bashing on socials for the last few months too!

Things start to look more natural last couple of matches. Finishing has to be more clinical though but happy with the attidute of all players

There’s a guy on TikTok not cutting his hair until United win 5 in a row.

It’s quite long currently. Hoping he can get a wee trim soon.

As I've been arguing, it's going to take time, but there have been structural and tactical improvements, as well as a big upturn in players putting in a shift, for several weeks now. I'm sure there will still be bumps this season but really liking the gradual improvements, especially given the injury crisis.

Heaven looks a real find
