The header?
Indeed.
The header?
We don’t know the truth on his contract, if he’s looking for a 5 year contract from 20 to 25 at £120k per week and £150k if we are a CL team every season then I think this is a fair salary. He's a good player. Still would happily see him leave if he continues to take the piss with his contract demands, but it's good to have him back for now.
£150 k a week for Mainoo based on what he has produced for United so far is laughable and if we are Stupid enough to offer that then we have learned nothing .We don’t know the truth on his contract, if he’s looking for a 5 year contract from 20 to 25 at £120k per week and £150k if we are a CL team every season then I think this is a fair salary.
To go buy Adam Wharton it would cost £75m over 5 years and £120,000 per week for 5 years that’s £107m over the duration of the contract and Kobbie would cost £30-40m as we have no transfer fee to pay?
The question should be what does he cost to replace?
Obviously, and it shows how fast he can read and process the game at a level that's rare for such a young player. The header?
At this point in his development he's head and shoulders above every academy player we've produced since 92 bar Mason Greenwood. That might be too much to offer him, but he's a much better prospect than some of the young players that ended up burning us in the past after they've been giving a big contract. We're not talking about a Rashford, Lingard, Januzaj, etc...£150 k a week for Mainoo based on what he has produced for United so far is laughable and if we are Stupid enough to offer that then we have learned nothing .
It was probably the reasons you’ve mentioned as I’m pretty sure that he had gained some mass. Not fat, mind you, but he’s been clearly spending a lot of extra time in the gym.
Garnacho's pace is the only reason he's not been dropped and I agree with you. I'd like to see Mount or Mainoo take up that other number 10 role but it is tricky to get the right balance.Doesn't work, you need Garna in there because he can run in behind. Whatever about people liking certain players or form, all teams just need certain qualities. No team will work without a threat in behind apart from random spot moments. Amorim prefers his #9 to be that guy, that's why he's using Hojlund so much... He's just horrible at it. Garnacho knows where to move, his end product just sucks. But that movement is probably the main reason why Ten Hag and now Amorim use him so much.
Yep, I was disagreeing with him. He's saying the opposite I think. He did gain too much muscle and lost some pace this season which has been one of the issues. Maybe he's going through some body recomp stuff with the fitness people to make him a bit quicker and leaner.
Let me repeat he would only receive that if the club was in the CL and after win and goal bonus, his basic should be the same as Amad 120k per week.£150 k a week for Mainoo based on what he has produced for United so far is laughable and if we are Stupid enough to offer that then we have learned nothing .
He was earning 20k a week at 16? Mental! Even more mental that, that's considered "very low" As for the Palace trio Wharton's on 35k and the other 2 are 50k and 100k respectively but are also 24 and 26. Where are you seeing they're on quadruple?Let me repeat he would only receive that if the club was in the CL and after win and goal bonus, his basic should be the same as Amad 120k per week.
what he’s achieved is not laughable and we have paid him £20k per week for the last three years, fans forgetting his wining goal last year in the FA Cup basically allowed United to make £30m this year in the Europa League.
When he was with that England squad last summer, no other player in that squad was paid less than 3/4 times what he was being paid, Wharton, Eze and Ghuei all at palace earning quadruppple what he was being paid?
Now I’m not saying he should be paid £150-180k per week but some of the contract we offer has to retro account for the very low contract we gave him and you can understand why he wants a reasonable contract now.
Is Garnacho quicker than Mount? If so not by much.Garnacho's pace is the only reason he's not been dropped and I agree with you. I'd like to see Mount or Mainoo take up that other number 10 role but it is tricky to get the right balance.
I'm really glad Kobbie and Mount are back but the attack really is a mess.

How quick is Garnacho, he gets caught every time he gets through on goal he's no young Rashford.Come on mate

The caf is a ridiculous place at times.Come on mate
He signed his first contract 9th Feb 2023, two months later in April he was 18. This contract was for £20k per week, previously he was on £5k per week as a scholar contract from 16-17.He was earning 20k a week at 16? Mental! Personally don't see the downside with offering him parity with Yoro or Amad other then if his injuries persist. Even if he can't lock down a position in the new formation surely multiple teams would take a punt on Mainoo for £50m even with the wage.
You're also comparing the wage of a 16/17 year old to a 24 y/o. His wage demands have more to do with what his club mates earn, not the England squad. He signed his first contract 9th Feb 2023, two months later in April he was 18. This contract was for £20k per week, previously he was on £5k per week as a scholar contract from 16-17.
So he was paid £20k per week for two seasons as he’s 20 next week.when you factor his one year at £5k per week he’s been paid an average of £13k per week, he was in the first team squad at 17. And £50-60k is quadruple what he was paid for the last three years!
This is why his agents are asking for £120-140k not £150-180k they want parity with the England squad retrospectively. I really don’t see an issue with giving him the same deal as Amad from the age of 20-26?
He’s Also playing for Man United not Palace?
Mount isn't quick. How quick is Garnacho, he gets caught every time he gets through on goal he's no young Rashford.
Yeah, thought he came on and did quite well (admittedly I was only half paying attention by that stage).Decent cameo? The game was over so didn’t mean much.
No doubt Mainoo is one of the players Amorim referred to when he said too many players had too much body fat - which is just incredible. He looks overweight. Could barely run and wasn't even on the pitch long.
Mainoo, Zirkzee and Casemiro string to mind.No doubt Mainoo is one of the players Amorim referred to when he said too many players had too much body fat - which is just incredible.
The good thing is that means he can improve his speed, agility and stamina substantially!
Casemiro? Nah , he has chubby cheeks but a very visible six pack. He’s fit!Mainoo, Zirkzee and Casemiro string to mind.
Casemiro is chubby, I saw a side by side of him at madrid vs here. The difference is stark.Casemiro? Nah , he has chubby cheeks but a very visible six pack. He’s fit!
Zirkzee, Mainoo, Shaw, Onana, Maguire, maybe even De Ligt, højlund?
Disagree. He’s taken off his shirt several times and has a very visible six pack. You don’t get that whilst being chubby.Casemiro is chubby, I saw a side by side of him at madrid vs here. The difference is stark.

Casemiro falls into the same camp, he defo enjoys a few take aways each week.
Luke Shaw has a six pack but he's defo carrying weight. When I say carrying weight it's not like the normal man, we'd all kill for Luke Shaws body but against his fellow pros he appears heavy because they are all super lean.

Mainoo is already a very good young player. Working on his fitness, speed and strength can make him even better; stronger, faster, more agile and more athletic will provide him snother dimension to his game.Depends which version of Shaw we're talking about. Your local gym is probably full of blokes who look better than Shaw does most of the time. Luke is just blessed with natural speed and strength. A shame he's rarely maximised it.
As for Mainoo, I say to all doubters, just give the lad some time to be physically ready. It takes years not months for a young player to reach the required level. Getting an early start in the first XI doesn't change that.

I still have no idea what his position will be in Amorims 433
Where would you play him? CM or behind the striker? I tend to think he’s better further up.
He probably does his best work in and around the opposition box, so that speaks to him playing as a #10. His lack of athleticism is also less of an issue there. But I don't think he is a great fit for either position.I still have no idea what his position will be in Amorims 433

Casemiro has always had the same build, he just has a fat mans face and he's just physically shot.
