Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach | Thread locked during matches

Hes shite. Are you going to come with ‘it was all in the plan to concede two goals to ten men and come back like that’.

Happy we won but no different to the Liverpool comeback under ETH. A fluke comeback doesnt make the manager any good.

I will be very surprised if we manage to blag our way through another 3 matches to win this comp. Cos thats all tonight is, we’ve blagged it into the next round. The cat will run out of lives. I’ll be happy if it doesnt but cant see it
Why was it a fluke? They scored goals from fluky bounces, they profited from a miss from point blank range that would have put the game away. Their penalty was as much of a fluke as ours. You can't see it because you don't want to, which is baffling considering you support United.

Whilst the performances are not pulling up any trees and to be honest Ruben has been underwhelming so far and should be doing better, but you can see elements of his coaching starting to come through. Unfortunately we don't have players in important positions to perform his type of football so when we get in the attacking phases, we almost look out of ideas in general. Combined with the ridiculous, constant individual errors, this year is basically going how it should be going. Up and down performances with the odd moment of brilliance getting us points or the odd individual mistake losing us games. We may fluke a win in this competition but it won't be pretty. But he has to be given time and a couple of transfers that suit the 343. See how we perform then. Look we all get angry when we witness these highly paid dopes feck up another performance but the manager has to be given some time. I think the 343 is here to stay regardless of manager, so get in a few players that suit 343 and let's see how we get on.

It's takes a special kind of miserable git to post a negative comment after that ending. But turns out I'm the man for the job.

I'm desperate to believe that getting a few specialists in this summer will somehow transform us.

But pessimist in me, using the eyes in my head, tells me that his system and brand of football has consistently been the worst I have ever seen us play... Which is some doing after the last 12 years.

Are you talking about the same players who just pulled that win out the bag?
Yes, the same players who should have finish the game earlier on by not converting chances

You do know it's the players who made it hard and got us to that position? Christ on the bike, suddenly we have amazing players all round...

Did Maz go off injured? If so, I believe he was limited in what else he could do but I felt our weakest part of the field was the left hand side. Even when we were comfortably on top it felt like they could open us up through that side. Dorgu is young and at the moment is totally ineffective at one on one duels. On both of Lyon's goals to bring it level he failed to impact the player and we subsequently conceded. Having Garnacho on that side also made it harder as he doesn't help much in defence.

The problem was there in the first half when Cherki was running through us before we got our second. It needed to change but it didn't and that's the area that needed some sort of change. It's those small margins that need plugging quickly to ensure we get over the line. Today, luckily, we did manage to get over the line but in other games we would have fallen.

I've said it before, with the right players we will take his system and will be much more consistent and will become more competitive across the board. But in tight affairs, I'm not sure healways knows how to adapt to change the game positively. Hope I'm wrong.

We got massively outplayed for much of the game.

I mean, look at the record since he took over. Look at the performances. Nothings on the boil.

How many posts were there in the match day thread that went something like this when Cherki scored:

'Amorim Out'
'Sack him now'

:lol::lol:
I know, and things about how crap the players are and what dross they are etc etc.

Just goes to show doesn't it. Unless this was all Amorim and only Amorim

He got United in his blood tonight I feel

Squad and bench is woeful. He knows what's needed but pressure is fierce and he hasn't had one summer here.

Instead of dick-riding the manager maybe some of you should give some credit to our players that you constantly slander to defend him, who pulled us out of that hole tonight.
Weird take given we created chances through his tactical system that then got brainfarted away through individual errors

Just enjoy the moment for 1 night?

I mean, can you blame people? It was a dreadful spell. I think you have to allow for hyperbolic reactions in a match thread, after that tonight I am still not in a rational mind space

He set the team up well, but shouldn't have played Shaw and possibly should have taken him back off again, even if it would be embarrassing for him.

Game should have been over, the mental collapses go beyond Amorim.

Oh but nothing to do with the manager and his tactics though? Funny that.

Playing shaw in a game like this was stupid and arrogant

Honestly it's important not to get emotional as that is one of the things that has set us back this past decade. We can get emotional and celebrate when we actually win this trophy.

Credit to our players who could have finish the game earlier and maybe not allow to concede stupid goals? Christ almighty

What a fecking night. I cannot believe it

I went through so many emotions

Has just confirmed Shaw was only planned to play 30 mins and that Lindelof had to leave the ground at half time due to a personal matter so couldn’t bring him on.. still going to bash him for that?

We were literally the better team until they scored their 1st goal and had Garnacho scored that easy chance, we would have been out of sight. After they scored, we were poor.

The turnaround came when we ditched his tactics and threw Maguire upfront

His decision to bring an unfit shaw on in the biggest game of our season was mind boggling.. why not just give him minutes vs Wolves.
Well Maz was injured and Linedlof it’s just been said had a personal problem so had to go home during half time. He was the only defender we could bring on..

He’s the most honest manager I’ve ever seen. His post match interview he just says it as it is.

Could he have played with two centre backs instead?

He could have changed the formation and brought a midfielder on, so yes I am going to bash him for that. He needs to stop being one dimensional.

They were instructed to sit back.
Were you in the dressing room knowing they were instructed that? Please do tell me your sources, how do you know it isn't in the players instinct to do so when we go ahead

Is it the manager’s fault that our players keep making individual mistakes that would look terrible even at amateur level?

If we even cut these stupid mistakes out by 1/3, Amorim’s stint so far would look vastly different.
