12 draws this season. They always end up being more costly than a few losses.

Arsenal are 11 points off topping the table. If Liverpool win tomorrow it will actually be 14 points. Have they really challenged for the league this season? Surely tailing off towards the end of the season doesn’t count? 8 games left? Why is no one talking about how they’ve bottled it again? Is it because they beat RM the other night? I can’t stand the love in for Arteta. He’s won feck all but he’s somehow elite?

Mate, at this stage it doesn't matter if it's 8 or 18 points. Arteta won't admit it, but the rotation the last couple of games show they thought it was over.

The only thing he's elite at is robbing off his own players

Bit like when we finished 2nd but miles behind city under Ole

Jorginho appears to be cooked as well. Merino will have to play back in midfield.

Very true. Even 6 less draws, that's 12 points right there. Too many draws this season especially mucking up at home. That said you deserve the title.

These are the reason why we’re going to win the Europa league. Finishes 2nd 2 years ago and we won the caraboa unbeaten, same last year we won the Fa cup. And this year… we’re unbeaten in Europa..

Arsenals board threw in the towel for Prem in January, when they wouldn't budge and splash for a striker.

In Champs league, if they do get past Real, I'd fancy them over PSG/Villa, and then final, you never know, it's a one off game, lucky bob or deflection. Think Barcelona would do them though.

We also were limited as to what was available and financial fair play limitations. Some clubs have to abide by that. Mistake was more in the summer. One player would not have made the difference either. He probably would have been out for the season now anyway.

Not sure I could have dealt bowing out today, and credit again to the lads....that was a pretty good performance again. PSG might be alright if we can get a lead. They will push us which is better overall for us. The worst of the three teams left is Inter. It would be like playing a PL club and our lack of creativity against a lowish block would be massively exposed again.

It was the perfect time to play Real Madrid. They are atrocious at the moment. Real Sosiedad scored 4 against them. Barca battered them twice. They are desperate for a player like Kroos.

Advantage Arsenal against PSG, as they seem fragile at the back, and I'd Arsenal take the lead, you are not scoring against them.

Fair play to them, Real aren't at their best at the moment and they took full advantage. Deserved to win.

If only they'd shown this sort of bottle in the league.

Yeah then we would still lead scousers 20-19

Something that's getting a lot less focus is that we've pretty much done this with a 70-80% version of the full strength team that Arteta envisions. No Havertz, Gabriel, White barely back from injury, Saka back after a lengthy layoff, an 18yo at LB. It's a tremendous run and performance given our travails this season.

Two solid additions in CM and striker next season and we're cooking at another level.

Ideally we sign Partey again with an extension, let go of Jorg and get 1 CM.
Blow the rest on an elite striker and a left winger thats an upgrade on Trossard and preferably better than Martinelli. We also need a 2nd choice GK.

With those possible additions you shoulod really challenge for the league title next season.

Its so good to see Timber doing so well.. He was exceptional at Ajax.. Very impressive to see him displaying all his qualities, both on and off the ball, this season after he tore his acl a couple of weeks after coming in..

I think the team this season is better suited for the CL. In the CL at this stage anytime a team goes a goal down and it's massive pressure. Its not the same in the league.

I also think since we have never won it everyone is trying their utmost now 200%. As this is the year.

Ideally yes I agree there is no excuse now for the league next season provided we get a striker

Kudos to them, don't think they would pull it off, even though Madrid are having a torrid period of form.

PSG the only hope now

He is an absolutely brilliant player. Love him.

There really should have been no excuse this year either, especially given City's drop off and Liverpool not really being all that great. Arsenal are a top tier team but didn't show it in the league this year.

Partey needs to go.

Just a very very intelligent footballer.

You know what, as rival fans we all like to throw in words like bottlers etc when teams don't do well. However, we quite often fail to mention one of the most important things, & that's momentum.

It felt as if we never actually managed to get any momentum this season. We lost Odegaard for a couple of months a few games into the season, we had debatable sendings offs causing some dropped points, and we had a couple of other injury issues. Meanwhile Liverpool had a favourable start fixture wise, but they did what they needed to do & played very well, & got good results & that allowed them to build up a head of steam and get a good lead, that we never really looked like wrestling back.

The one time period we did look like we might be closing the gap over Xmas & New Year, we lost Saka, Jesus, Martinelli & Havertz all within a few weeks of each other, killing any momentum we were starting to build back.

Now these might sound like excuses, some might be self inflicted, some might be due to poor squad planning, however you choose view it. But Liverpool deserve the title, they built up momentum nice & early, & since then were always in control. Momentum is massive in football, you only need to watch how Newcastle are currently playing to see that. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see them overtake Arsenal for 2nd now.

City & Pep built a four peat title winning side on having momentum peaking at the business end of the season.

Fair play to Kiwior. All the focus was on him when Gabriel went down. Arsenal fans were shitting themselves and oppo fans like me were licking their lips at the thought of Mbappe, Vini and Rodrygo running at him. Other than 1 slightly wayward pass in the first leg, he's been pretty flawless in both legs.

Very assured performance. Madrid's lack of creativity down the middle or any sort of thrust at all played to his strengths for sure, but he still had to rise to the occasion which he did.

Has done his job well to be fair to him. Couple of wobbles early on in that first leg, but has been very solid since. Might have been over aligned because of poor LB performances for which he clearly isn't a LB at all. Hope he finishes strong.

Also helped by MLS, Timber and of course Saliba (ok he had one bad moment yesterday), but all 4 of the. Have been extremely good. MLS looks like a veteran out there, and Timber rarely puts a foot wrong.

Hate Arteta with a passion and cant stand the sight of him potentially lifting a trophy ffs. But how on earth did he unearth a special talent in MLS? Kid was something else. He literally pocketed Rodrygo over the 2 legs. Considering it's his first ever professional season and first champs league, you got to say wow..

As much as I hate their fanbase and Arteta, they are building something. The patience with Arteta is starting to pay off. They have fixed their defense and midfield quite well and have a spine to focus on and build on now. If they manage to get a top striker up front they will start winning consistently.

Everything went wrong for us this season from a health/injury perspective, with literally half the field players in our starting XI from the beginning of the year suffering long term multi-month injuries (Saka, Odegaard, Gabriel, Havertz, White) plus some key backups too, but we’re second in PL and semifinals of CL. And we’ve discovered some fantastic players along the way that will be cornerstones for years to come in Timber, MLS, and Nwaneri. This project is still going in the right direction, if we can add the key pieces to the attack this summer we'll be well positioned to keep competing for everything for the next 3-4 years.

I just wanted to say, 1 player to not sleep on after these Madrid games is Lewis-Skelly.

Guy is 18, 6 months into his first senior season, learning this new position for him on the job, and he didn't give Rodrigo a sniff over 2 legs, and when inverting into midfield was brave, incisive, happy to drive with the ball and at times was shrugging the likes of Bellingham & Camavinga off him.

Nwaneri was getting the hype coming through because of the attacking end product he was showing, but this kids game is actually more developed and more consistent overall just now.

Also liked that every English player in our team seemed to hate that megatwat Bellingham.

Arsenal needs to get a striker, a CM to replace Jorginho, a LB to replace Zinchenko and Tierney, a backup GK, and a LW if Trossard moves on. A very busy summer for sport director.

No ST?
ST, CM and LW is the areas of focus, and it wont be cheap.

To be fair Merino has really done as well as we could have hoped, but we need a proper forward.

Little worried about that ice pack on Saka's ankle.

Ridiculous tackle, nowhere near the ball.
