A semi decent manager does not have this squad in 15th place ffs! Is the squad good enough to compete for the PL? Hell no! But it should not be in this position playing so bloody terribly!

I honestly think I must be in bizzaro world in here. Amorim is seemingly bulletproof in the eyes of so many.

Yes he does when he starts in 13th, loses two attacking players on top of that when we already have goalscoring issues since last season.

Yes, you are in bizzaro world if you think this is not a piss poor team. Our exPts had us in 15th or something last season and we only got one player in attack this season in Zirkzee who is not much of a goalscorer anyway.

Urgh the Liverpool fans waiting for the title celebrations, how i miss enjoying us winning titles

I’m not desperate to feel oppressed. feck me. Do you think it would’ve been shut if everyone was saying how great he is?
There is no need for people ranting in the main thread halfway through a match. The match day thread is here for comments whilst the match is ongoing. The other thread will be reopened when the match is over. This is something that has been considered for a while due to the toxic posting by some posters

The thing is that ETH massively outperformed the xG last season - check our goal difference. These players are simply not good enough, no amount of coaching is going to fix that. People need to accept that this IS the open-heart surgery Ragnick correctly said we needed. We've shed like 30 first team players in 4 seasons. And not actually purchased very many new ones, and of those of cousre very few have worked out. The squad is absolutely thread-bare, dollars spent means nothing if there aren't players available to play from them.

What I see is a team broadly defending solidly, only allowing minimal chances each match but simply cannot score goals. And thus we lose games where we only concede a chance or two. Fergie's teams used to concede loads of chances, which was fine, because we could always go up the other end and impact the result.

As for Dorgu as there was a discussion about him - I just dont see why should spend £30 million on him....he can probably be an ok player, but is this really the best we could find if we were to make one signing in january ?
I was told on here he would allow us to start playing the 3421 formation better as he was a LWB! He’s been terrible, lets be honest.

so much discussion on Dorgu and none on Shaw who was more at fault for the goal.

It’s been a fairly even game. They just took their chance and we missed ours (as per).

I know we’re rubbish and there can be no excuses for our ineptitude upfront. But how is Semenyo with eyes only on Maguire as he wrestles him to the ground in the box (twice) not given?

But then he gives a foul by Yoro minutes later.

Anywhere else on the pitch a shirt pull is a foul and often a booking. Except when it’s in the box and the officials bottle it.

Shaw could have played or attempted to play that ball surely? He just lets it go out for a throw against us!!

Yes, I get that but he has a load of ex managers players who are not good enough to play his system. After this season I will judge. Arteta, Klopp, etc didn't do f all in their first year.
If memory serves, it took Arteta to fully revitalize Arsenal, with a number of nadir moments in the way to finally becoming a force again.

Sad to see so many people desperate to pin this absolute garbage on the manager, who said that he was sticking to his system all along. It's not his fault that our club has been filled with the least athletic and technically sound squad ever seen in the Premier League.

While I dont blame Amorim for the state of this team, he absolutely takes blame for persisting with Garnacho and Hojlund.

Garnacho is a waste of time. Honestly he has bottom 10% football IQ. We should have moved him when Napoli were sniffing around.

Hojlund I dont know what to say about him. Looked great last season and this season he looks like someone has told him he needs to be a hold up, target 9 and hes not capable pf playing that role. I still think there's a player in there but hes mentally broken and needs some coaching. The guy should be running channels and trying to get in behind. Whoever is working with him needs to lose their job.

The league is already chalked. Just play Obi and see what we've got with Mount as a 10. At least that lets us progress going into next season. Sticking with these two is just a waste.
Maybe he just does not rate alternatives like Mount

Same rubbish. I like a Amorin but this 3 at the back nonsense needs to be changed when necessary. Shaw off and Ugarte on would solidify us so much.
He’s already said that he’ll never do that. I’ve never known such a stubborn inflexible manager.

People having a go at Onana for the goal are weird, he's rubbish, but I don't see many keepers doing much better with that one.
The touch of casemiro takes it away from him. Whether he saves the original or not is another discussion

"Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last 21 matches when they have led at half time (W16 D5)"

Same thing against Newcastle. I don’t know why but teams find it so easy to attack through the wings against us

Had similar thoughts even the commentator was like yeah thats clearly a foul from Yoro but didnt think Maguires was.

    Quality control
Well you're wrong in your desperation for drama. And a very small amount of thought would reveal that. As if locking the player threads during the game has any effect on halting criticism? It merely stops the same conversation from occurring in multiple threads.
The irony being that this conversation about Amorim would be in the right thread if it wasn’t shut.

He needs to be getting more out of them. He’s said this himself.

Why play with wing backs if neither is providing anything going forwards? Dorgu is clueless and Mazraoui is a better full back than wing back.

We’ve had long enough now to be able to put some patterns of play together in this formation and we still have no idea how to play it.

Not really, players need to step up. Players have been crap from last season, and we were playing with a back 4 and still shit. Those who keep harping about formation are clueless if they think a change in formation will suddenly make us better.

We probably have been the better side. Bournemouth started fairly well, but we have grown into the game. If the referee/VAR had done their job, this would have been reflected by the scoreline.
I'm not usually a negative supporter but I'm not sat here with confidence that we'll get back in this. We're hardly knocking at the door, so to speak. Maybe thats a knock on affect of the season we've had though

He’s already said that he’ll never do that. I’ve never known such a stubborn inflexible manager.
We should abandon it mid game if we're losing and need a goal in last ten.
But I get his point especially given what happened with ten hag.

Their goal sums up this team to a tee, its like we'v conceded the same goal 20 times this year

Utter shite keeper playing us into trouble, useless donkeys at the back compounding it with their all too familiar clown show, opposition take the ball off us with ease and score, with said utter shite keeper getting no where near it.

In addition, our manager dosnt seem to be able to spot it, never mind solve it, because if he could, Onana would of been told months ago that idiotic, pointless balls that he played to shaw from that free kick are not an option

"Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last 21 matches when they have led at half time (W16 D5)"
Good thing we have Højlund and Garnacho to challenge stats like that...

We don't have players who can really be that effective though. You could put me in a team and train patterns of play, wouldn't help.
We do though, it’s a combination of players, training and a low acceptable level of play. No team has to change virtually the entire first 11 before you see better performances.

If Amorim wants to die on his formation hill good luck to him but he’s not shown he can get it to work in the PL at all so far and waiting to change the whole first team is not going to happen before he gets sacked.

People having a go at Onana for the goal are weird, he's rubbish, but I don't see many keepers doing much better with that one.
It was not a shot which you must save but it was not a shot which you can't save. So, not his fault at all but it is frustrating to not have a gk who can't save tougher shots.

Garnacho has been getting absolutely battered by the Bournemouth players today. Dog shit ref protection
