Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Feel sorry for Amorim. Trying to implement a possession game and we have useless players giving away the ball constantly
Yep, this. Whether he is the one or not, or whether his system can work with the right players is irrelevant when you consider we have a core group of players who can all have absolute voodoo doll moments back to back game upon game

Ye of course it’s the coaches fault the players can’t make 5 yard passes
Has Mainoo and Mount on the bench but plays Dorgu and Ugarte against a team that is very good on the ball.

The latter 2 treat the ball like a grenade whereas Mount and Mainoo can actually play possession footy. This is his stupid selection.

There concentration levels is just amateur stuff. Most important game all season and they don’t look prepared

They just never have looked like they can unless they play ultra defensive and horribly pragmatic or just resort to off the cuff street football on the counter.

Got a huge slice of luck here.. he and the players better stay at it and make it count in the second half.

Certainly the most clinical the team has looked in every fixture he's managed. This is why the narrative of the players being rubbish is nonchalant. They have proven even under Erik to be prolific when it matters.

His biggest challenge is getting us performing week in week out because one thing these players don’t have a problem with is getting up for a big game.

But this is an unbelievable result so far for him.

More of this, Rubén. Please and thank you!

Played his hand brilliantly.

Lured them into a false sense of confidence by starting Lindelof, and sucker punched them!

Be interesting to see how his style of play seems to be more fruitful in Europe vs Domestically and that it works. Hopefully with better players it can work in the PL too.

Probably his most dominant half as a manager yet. We could've easily had 5.
I think it's been a weird game to analyse

First 30 minutes we lost the ball every 5 seconds and it lead to dangerous attacks for Bilbao, they missed at least 2 golden chances they have to score.

Moments change games though. Maguire turning into Yamal flipped everything on it's head.

I will complain about the first 30 mins . Continously trying to play from back with average players in an away match at Bilbao where they are famous for intensity and pressing . Seriously?

But managed the game well after the red.

When the moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie, that's Amorim.

If we have a fit Shaw and Amad as WBs, the system suddenly looks more attacking and positive. From 5/6 defensive minded players to 3/4.

Great result and good to see some of the key players coming back. I did feel we could have been a bit more proactive in the second half. Nonetheless, it’s a great result to take back to Old Trafford.

Improvements are obvious. Crazy that people were already wanting him out.

Just make the summer transfer window count. Please!

I agree about the first 20 minutes, we were asking for trouble and it was total madness. But really dominated in a way that you'd expect a top side to do after going 1-0 up and then after them getting the man off.

Also though why risk giving a goal away then them making a come back like we just did against Lyon. We were still by far the most dominant and had the better chances in the 2nd half without being stupid at the same time.

As much as, for me, I would like to see him given the chance to salvage the season with the cup - it's not that crazy to think he'd be gone by now with other clubs given the league form. Am hopeful a somewhat unexpected but dominant win tonight will ease our fears a little.
Well you got it. But it won't stop the moaning:lol:

Yes, it’s a fine line. I just thought we erred a bit more on the cautious side. However, from this position, we should be able to finish the job at OT, so can understand the approach we took.
And as you said, we could have scored more if we were a little more clinical in the 2nd half.
