You seem more sure than I am.

Its more so an interpretation of Ratcliffe and Berada's comments and behavior. They seem to be looking at this as a two year project to see where things go. If by next year things don't turn around, then they will act. If we're in a better position by Christmas then they will double down on Amorim for subsequent years imo.

I don’t know what he does during the week. We can’t defend and we can’t play out from the back. Nothing has improved in those two areas and they should be the first things to make a difference when you play 3 at the back.

This team’s attack is shite and we all know that but conceding stupid and cheap goals every week just puts more of a burden on our team to score more goals.

We have four clean sheets in the league since he joined. Until we can defend we will continue to drop points because we’ve shown we can at least score the odd goal.

The first three months of next season will tell us everything. If we get to October and nothing changes we have to get rid regardless of what business we do this summer.

As with last season, a decision shouldn't be made on the basis of a single win/lose game. They either think he's the guy to be successful long term, or they don't.
I agree, but I didn't fancy being shouted down if I said he should be sacked regardless :D

If we weren’t in the EL we probably wouldn't have played a heavily rotated team, and we’d have likely won it today. We still came close away from home against a good team.

What have you seen from us that makes you think we would beat them at full strength. Amorim has won 3 PL games vs teams not relegated this season.

Regardless of whether we win the EL or not (we aren’t), he needs to go. We don’t score unless we freestyle and abandon his rigid, exposed system.
Maybe he’s the nicest and best media handling manager around, but by feck his way of playing football is horrendous and it’s not worked for us at all.
His luck with red cards will run out in Europe and we will be exposed as badly as we do in the league - every fecking week.
I’ve never been more Amorim out.

Its a suicidal from Amorim point of view that he will go into next season with zero leverage and will be on pressure to produce instant result or face a sack because of this disastrous league campaign.

When Manchester United’s bosses decided to get rid of Sancho, Rashford and Antony on loan, Amorim got a free pass this season. No team in the league would pick up many results with the lack of attacking options we’ve got. Add in a few youngsters that aren’t ready yet and a clear focus on the Europa (rightly so) then I’m happy to right off the league and look forward to seeing massive improvements after the transfer window. If those improvements aren’t seen then I’ll change my opinion

Exactly.

Playing a duff formation we haven't the players for, and losing a lot of games.

You fear for us if we don't win the Europa with the money at stake.

It'll be the difference between buying a couple of Dorgu's and bringing in a few hopefully gamechangers
Yes, because spending huge amounts on gamechangers has been the difference.

He’s gonna need one hell of a Summer to make this system work in the PL that’s for sure.

Right now everyone looks absolutely lost every week, we only ever look dangerous when we appear to completely disregard our tactics and throw the kitchen sink at it.

We’re Man Utd, you can’t win 4 league games since new years at this club, it’s really that simple, Europa or not he should be sacked

You might well be right of course. But Jim might also get impatient, he's done it before.

It's a game of percentages at the end. He might come good, in my opinion it's more likely he won't though. So I'd prefer a transfer window for someone who (in my opinion) has a higher chance of success than failure

I think Jim and Berada both understand that Amorim's predicament was a result of their own ineptness in not sacking Ten Hag immediately after the FA Cup and getting a new manager then, so he would have a summer window and sufficient training to prepare the squad for the challenges ahead. That's why this summer is so critical - its the first time Amorim will actually have a chance to build the squad with players he badly needs to make his system work properly.

Does everyone not realise that even last year our performances were so poor that we should have finished 15th. We were extremely lucky to get 8th and that's after giving a manager 400 million to do that.

Never thought we'd get relegated again but next season we're going to be in real trouble

I just can’t see this system working.

Teams literally pile up the midfield against us and dominate.

5 at the back yet still shocking defensively.

It’s difficult to believe, but the team we will play in the final are currently below us in the league.

And that’s why the manager was sacked, and they got in Amorim in the hope he fixes things - instead things have gone backwards 10 fold. Don’t know why the idea of coaching is so alien to people, it’s only ‘bringing In his own players or ‘players who fit the system’ whatever that means

No we won't. This season was bound to happen due to not getting rid of the main problem in eth at the end of last season and giving him over half a billion to spend. We are reaping what we sowed.

Takes from today:

- Amass, Frederickson and Obi are far from ready.
- Shaw is done.
- Garnacho goal and assist, hopefully great boost for him.
- Amad back with a goal!
- Bayndir couple of good saves, shaky throughout.

Brentford's best player - the refereeing team.

Only games that matter are the 2nd leg and hopefully the final.

Don't bottle it we need to fight for every blade of grass this Thursday.
There is not much to build on.

I would keep Bruno, Yoro, Garnacho, Amad, Ugarte and Obi. The rest we can sell if we get a decent offer. There are glaring holes everywhere such as CM and WB. We are not a striker away from top 5.

We simply can't afford 3 months of this kind of form next season. No way it should come to that if this trajectory continues into next season, we would be writing off yet about season while Liverpool pick up another title. We'll need to move very quickly, and tbh he's lucky to be getting another season. Feels like ETH all over again.

Never thought we'd get relegated again but next season we're going to be in real trouble
Only if our transfer window is really poor. Bring in a proper striker, a better #10 and a CM and our results improve a lot. We've lost so many points throughout the season by not being able to score goals. If we fix this, relegation won't even be a topic next year.

Results weren't perfect in February and March but I liked the performances. Feel like lately performances level dropped despite some good results like Lyon and Bilbao. He'll definitely have to deliver much better league results next season.

I mean if you are starting Chido, Fredricson, Amass and Altay regularly then yes that team would struggle to stay in the league, as they aren't premier league level players (yet). They're kids (and a backup goalie).

Well we are getting relegated if he doesn’t.

This shit pisses me off. All negative and can’t even give credit where we’ve done well. We’re in the semi finals of the EL because of only luck with red cards? Just utter bullshit.

There's always someone who finds the absolute positive in any situation.

8th was dreadful last year and was what we probably deserved.
15-16th or wherever we are is an absolutely disaster.

Saved by winning the Euro if we can do that.

It's the most pressurised summer window we've ever had, as people seem to assume it's just a case of getting the right players in.
When in reality 1) that'll be very difficult and 2) there's very limited evidence this system will ever work, bar playing in Europe.

The manager has been left with a dud squad due to eth and his son making a killing by signing players that weren't worth even half of what we paid for them. If we go into November like this then I will be concerned, but at the moment he has my backing and I turn pretty quick on managers when I see things going array. I was one the first to want Eth and Ole out.

Premier league record for Amorim:

Matches: 23
Wins: 6
Draws: 6
Losses: 11

That's 24 points in 23 games. That's 39-40 points a season. Historically teams need around 36-38 points to be safe from relegation.

I like Amorim but these numbers are beyond anything I'd imagined when he first arrived.

I know we talked about short term pain for long term success but how much is too much? Rotation squad or not the results are as bad as ever, 2 points from the last 6 matches. Performances are not improving nor the system is clicking.

Even if we win the europa league questions must be asked.

If not for Lyon's miracle I don think he'd had a chance to keep his job.

This is based on nonsense xG data. You can't get away with 7 positions worth of points luck over a 38 game season.

Questions have already been asked and answered throughout this thread.

Jog on - it’s an opinion based on watching this shite week after week.
If you don’t care about United winning games then full your Amorim cup up full of positivity but based on what, I don’t know….or care.
Where is credit due after yet another defeat where his system got exposed over and over again?

Yes, we don’t have the WBs, CMs, nor the CBs to play this system. Amorim does only get 70% out of the squad. But we seem hellbent on getting this to work instead of 4231. Huge huge gamble.

We're so far off every team above us is astonishing. People can use the europa to excuse today’s result, fair enough, but this has been a run of form that would get almost every manager of any team in the league sacked, let alone man utd.
It took a miracle against Lyon to save the season where we blew a 2 goal lead against 10 men. I’m not certain the tie against Athletic tie is over either, we could still blow it in spectacular fashion. The fact Amorim is being given a pass is startling. I suppose the good looks and speaking well can take you far but I believe we’ve all been duped. He’s not made for English football.

Why is it that no matter who comes in to manage us, our pressing and our ability to handle any half-decent press never improves?

I mean we may not have the best players, or the most athletic ones but I would assume training international footballers to press collectively and efficiently and to cut off passing lanes is not the most difficult job in the world. Yet every manager somehow fails to do that. Is it some sort of voodoo that has been placed on the club that the simplest of stuff cannot be implemented?

Just the 20 points between 8th and 15th last season, you can only laugh

We knew this team was a cup team. We hired this manager to improve results in the league and he's failed spectacularly. No getting away from that.

We're abysmal. Playing out from the back is like a tightrope walk, then our press at the other end is just painful, teams playing out with such ease. We're so passive, have no aggression or willing to get a loose ball, we get beaten to almost everything. We don't create much and look vulnerable every time the ball is near our box. We seem to leave gaps 'between the lines' in every part of the pitch. Every team in the league looks better than they usually do when they play us.

I can't think of a single positive regarding us as a premier league team.
