What’s going on at Nottingham Forest?

How would things have panned out if Maguire did join Utd as a PL winner? Would things have went the same way or would we have seen a different and better Harry coming into Utd with the confidence and experience that winning the league brings you?
No. Casemiro, Ronaldo, Varane won multiple Champions League medals and didn’t transform us that much.

I don't think we need to go that route. I've wondered what Maguire's status and United journey would be like if he hadn't gone to Greece that one summer. Awful and traumatic trip for him and his family and I link his drop on form directly to it. Seems like he's just starting to get some confidence back that was lost then

I mean we’re all aware that this Forest’s ‘Leicester-like fairytale’ moment? I’m pretty sure they’d be mid-table again next year whilst balancing CL commitments. Their ascendancy has been somewhat dramatic and given the style of football they play, I can’t see this season being the pivotal moment that marks their rise as a top club. Too fast and too soon.

57 points with 8 games to go. They'll get to at least 70 and it should be enough for CL. You'd expect that to result in weaker league campaign next season but still a great achivement.

Not that I'd want us to play the way Forest do, but I am impressed with them. Most of the times they're able to restrict opponent from goals and are also effective in attack. Not to talk about the whole commitment and desire of their players. Would be nice seeing them win the Fa Cup. Nuno doing great job.

What an enormously expensive 2 points dropped those will prove to be. Maybe the counter attacking football isn't sustainable over the course of a season.

Those underlying stats catching up with them a bit, aren't they?

That said, even the point at Palace midweek was an outlier in their favour.

Confirmed in Europe for next season though right with that point?
I don’t think they were ever getting Cl but feck me their deluded fans sure thought they were. They were always gonna drop off when the pressure was on and teams clocked onto them but they’ve guaranteed a top seven finish and likely a conference league place, which they’d have taken start of the season.

He's a nasty piece of work isn't he. The way he behaves in public, imagine what he must be like behind closed doors.

Imagine being a disciplined and professional athlete, busting your arse all season and exceeding everyone's expectations. And then suddenly you see this silver spooned motherfecker, who wouldn't even have 1% of what he has without his rich parents, waddling across the pitch and criticising you as pie crusts fall out of his gob.

He's not going to sack him is he?

Been through more managers than I've had hot dinners at Olympiacos. Here's the list, took over in 2010.

He's a very much hands-on owner, he demonstrated it with how he handled Cooper, who had a connection with Forest fans. He's certainly not your usual PL owner in terms of temperament. The context is different, but the last time he was changing managers like shirts at Olympiacos, he changed the club's fortunes from having a disastrous season to winning the biggest trophy in their history. He definitely likes high stakes with high rewards.

You don't know the half of it. You don't have to see what he does behind closed doors. Some of us are unfortunate enough to see how he behaves daily in an environment where he's, by far, the biggest bully.

A team overachieves and it gets to their heads. Obviously a disappointing result but to have the owner behaving like that is disgraceful.

What annoyed him was Forest taking off Elliot Anderson and using their final allocated sub slot when Awoniyi had just collided with a post and could barely walk.

There was still eight minutes of injury time when that happened but Leicester were just running through at will and should've won it.

In that scenario I do think as owner you are justified to ask the coach what on earth happened but behind closed doors, not out on the pitch infront of all the cameras.

I disagree tbh, don’t think owners should be getting involved with things like that in any scenario.

The only thing the owner should be judging on is the performance in the grand scheme of things.

He’s also called the medical staff out online. It seems like it is their fault but again, this needs to be handled behind closed doors.

Owner made a total show of himself.

Yes Forest may well miss out on Champions League football but today with the draw they qualified for European football for the first time in 29 years.

Think Nuno handled himself well in his post match interview.

Imagine having to go through that in front of thousands of people with someone who doesn't have 1% of the experience and knowledge you have in professional football.

How can the forest owner be unhappy with the job Nuno as done? He’s getting you into Europe anyway.

Expecting Marinakis to be more polite seems funny to me. He's Greek mafia and involved in the shadiest things.

I hate how everything remotely human in football now is made into such a massive fecking drama.

From the reports on this I was expecting him to be shouting in the manager's face and possibly giving him a public lashing and setting fire to his shoes.

Instead it just looks like someone having a random rant/moan/tantrum about something to a friend or colleague, and then them being like "yeah I know what you mean mate" while not actually caring. Just a nothing incident.

How did Carragher and Neville ever survive as footballers with how offended they get by stuff like this?

Nuno should just listen to what Marinakis has to say...... He's twice the man that Nuno is.

Forest said the incident was because of Marinakis' frustration that striker Taiwo Awoniyi had continued to play after an 88th-minute injury which subsequently required 'urgent' surgery on Monday night.

The club added Marinakis' actions were because of his "deep care, responsibility, and emotional investment," in the player and the club.

"The truth of the matter is there was no confrontation, with Nuno or with others, either on the pitch or inside the stadium," the club added.

"There was only shared frustration between all of us that the medical team should never have allowed the player to continue.

"We urge former coaches and players, and other public figures in the game, to resist the urge to rush to judgement and fake news online, especially when they do not have the full facts and context."
