Post-match discussion

Putrid. They are making me fall out of love with football. Imposters playing for United, bar Bruno and Diallo. Relegation is definitely on the cards next season if we do not get champions league football which would allow us to trade better in the transfer market. If we can’t we’re f@cked

Well I am glad that is over. Just two games to go to wrap up this absolute shite season.

Chelsea, horrible club and horrible fans. Can someone please explain why Chelsea player does not get booked for diving yet Amad did. Six bookings, unbelievable Chelsea diving all over the place , pestering ref all the time for bookings and sending offs, I just hope they don’t qualify for CL, and really would laugh my socks of if we do.

Not sure why Amorim insists on this formation with the players we have. It's too specialised for our personal. It exposes the inadequacies of our players, perhaps that's the goal.

The 2 CBs need to able to ball carry into midfield and add numbers to midfield.

The wingbacks need to be able to drive forward and take on players.

Attacking midfielders need to be able to take on attackers or make runs in front to receive the ball.

Did we have any of that on display?

Our best performances in the last few years have been as a counter attacking team.

We started well for 15 minutes. Maguire unlucky to be an inch offside with his goal.
After that we faded and looked poor. Chelsea were not that great but had more desire and played much better football. In contrast we had little desire and little idea of how to play penetrating football.
Rasmus is so poor. He has to go.
Amourin has a free pass this season, next year he better start off well with a winning run or the fans will turn on him.

The IQ of our players is astonishing.

97 mins is up, need a goal, and we still spend 45 seconds passing the ball around the defence.

Then, with a free kick screaming out for putting in the box, we go wide to Garnacho who runs it into a hole and gets turned over.

Sheer stupidity.

Another clueless performance. We had 1 offside goal which was close. We had 1 shot on target other than that, from Amad. We had very little threat going forward although we were coping with Chelsea defensively until they, under no pressure defensively, sent a defender forward to make up an extra man in the box and he scored. Thats what we get for not keeping their defenders honest and pinned back.

boring match. I think, we did alright, but we didn't offer anything to really have a claim all game. Match showed nothing new, midfield was just inexistent, attack was invisible. Our best players were once again the ones who managed not to shine as bad examples. I though Dorgu did alright today, overall a solid performance. Mount back to his unimpactful self, popping up with a scene here or there just isn't enough, but good to see him playing in back to back matches. Hojlund with a particular average game. Absolutely nothing is happening for him.

I'm genuinely not worried for the final, because these lot are game raising cnuts and Spurs are Spurs. But we need to replace at least 7 players for next season and that won't happen, Amorim or no Amorim.

This Manager needs to sort out his plan B
His plan B is to do plan A better
It’s absolutely ridiculous for a manager to only know how to play one formation.

Toothless team. Never want to see Rasmus or Lindelof play for this club.
I agree on Hojlund although I am usually slow to turn against our players but I have lost patience with him. I see nothing there.
I thought Lindelof was just fine and do all that was asked of him.
Can someone explain Mazraoui’s yellow card? It looked to me that Colwill just charged right into him. I would have given the card the other way.
Dreadful game.

As bad as our forwards are, we really are terrible at passing out from the back to build up through midfield. In that context, we really miss Yoro and Martinez, but our midfielders themselves are way off 'press resistant'. Once Ugarte came on we couldn't get out of our own half.
If Yoro and Martinez can stay fit it will be a big boost, but I also feel that we desperately need at least one quality midfielder, ideally two.
No injuries, so here's to the final.

Whatever way we trying to play it is not working for us, the manager, the players need to have a hard look at ourselves. This formation is not for us, it just keeps exposing our more fragile defenders who can not pass for shit. The last 15 mins, it felt like we could not pass the ball out at all and all the match was played in our own half which is shameful for a team trying to get back into the match and funnily enough nobody had the foresight to punt it long atleast we may get a foul or a throw and this will get us up the pitch but we kept passing between Maguire, Lindelof and Heaven.

Special mention to Hojlund in this match, just absolutely awful all match could not hold the ball at all. Dorgu needs to be given crossing lessons all day, just kind of loops it, does not even give any chance to striker. He gets into very good positions but his ability kind of shows that attackingly he is very average.

Players not fit to wear the badge:

Lindelöf
Dorgu (is he even a footballer?)
Hojlund
Onana
Eriksen

Players that could be given another year to show they are good enough and fecked off if they don't improve:

Shaw
Mount
Garnacho
Mainoo

Casemiro and Maguire will have to be replaced in the next 2 summers too and Bruno also reaches the end of his prime. We have a lot to do.

When was the last time we scored a decent league goal? When was the last time we played well in the PL? Another totally pathetic, languid performance. No one has a clue what to do or where to go on the pitch.

So basically we need players able to play football but it’s really because of the system we are failing?

We were crap with Ten Hags 4231, and we’re crap but in a different way with the 3-4-2-1.

OGS and Mou had us play a pragmatic counter attacking brand of football which was deemed not good enough. If Amorim got us playing with a low block and counter attacks, would we be satisfied?

97th minute. 1-0 down. We have the ball in our half in acres of space - Maguire is up top in the opposition box with Garnacho, Amad around him. Mainoo on the ball looks unsure of what to do, points here and there, looks lost, and then passes it to Lindelof, I think? Who also stands on it for 5 more seconds, almost waiting for the whistle to blow, seemingly not too bothered by the fact that he is a part of a side that hasn't won a PL game in two months. He does the equivalent of a shrug and passes it to Dorgu.

Now Dorgu is the new kid in this side. He still has these pesky mentality issues like urgency in extra time when losing a PL game against Chelsea, and puts in a cross into the box. Give him a few more months in the dressing room, he'll look at everyone and realize it doesn't really matter and stop being urgent. The cross doesn't matter, going for it doesn't matter, winning doesn't matter. You can just learn to be shameless and pick up the big checks and find joy in other things in your life now that you can buy anything you want. Man United is the easiest club in the world to play for - just stroll about and look busy, and you'll be rich and there'll be no consequences for it at all.

Say what you will about the manager, but there are just so many shit players in this team.
The thing is, they aren't inherently bad enough to be 16th are they? Most of that line-up tonight, with the exception of Hojlund, Dorgu and Onana has more than enough experience and/or ability to not be in this position. And starting a young player like Dorgu doesn't mean you should suddenly lose every game if most of your players are up to it.

Hojlund has obviously been dire but I don't buy this nonsense of "well what is Amorim supposed to do?". Not finish 16th just because the striker isn't up to it? The margins aren't that fine. A decent team and set-up would carry a sub-standard striker to a decent league finish.

Annoying because we looked decent for the first 25 or so, then pretty much wall to wall dogshit. Rasmus is awful - feels bad to say because he works his bollocks off, but he's genuinely just a very poor footballer for this level. We will look much better with a 9 that actually carries some threat but the ease with which we're played through in the middle of the park remains worrying.

Thought we were the better side for the first 30 minutes. We conceded our often conceded goal where the opposition get it in from out wide and someone drifts into the space between the wingback and back 3.

Meh, no injuries and everyone got a run out.

I thought we were the better team for 60 or 70 minutes, but then just stopped playing. Still not good, but the better of two poor teams.

Such a weird refereeing performance. So lenient with some physical altercations, and the exact opposite on others. Maguire got elbowed in the head, drop ball to them. Bruno got swiped late, throw in to them. Dangerous 50-50, their lad goes in two footed and Heaven gets to the ball first, yellow card for Heaven.

We also need to stop playing out from the back, because we can't do it.

The first twenty minutes was good. Chelsea took over after that.

Badly need a striker, a 10 and a MF in that order. New GK as well after that.

Thought we weren't bad until it got to the top end.
Then they inevitably scored.

Agreed

Was hoping he start with a false 9 or at least some point in this game. Rasmus is just waste of space. Can't hold up the ball. Low CF IQ. We have made it so easy for their CBs.

Remind me, where were we in the league when ten hag left?

Yes this system isn't getting the best out of the players and ultimately that is the coaches job. He isn't getting a whole new team any time soon and there is no evidence we wpuld be any good even if he did it.

Dorgu (is he even a footballer?)
He's a 20 year old wing back, just recently signed, playing in a system that nobody has a clue how to play. He's far from a problem compared to the rest of them.

They're not? Understat had us at 15th on expected points last season. We've been utterly shit for a long, long time.

I have serious doubts about the manager but it's painfully obvious that this squad is of bottom half quality.

I really feel for Hojlund. He's the new fall guy / whipping boy. I've always stood by players, supported them and give them the benefit of the doubt. If you look at a player like Diego Forlan, you knew that there was goals in there and eventually it would just click. Of course that's with the benefit of him having players who would contribute goals from the bench, from midfield or score while he is sat on the bench. e.g. He was in a mature squad.

Hojlund...............I just dont see it at all for the last six months. His runs off the ball are crap. If we put it in the air, he wants it feet. If we play it in the channels, he wants to to pin the centre back  Whether someone has told him he is on his way in the summer or he will be second choice, I dont know. Is it the pressure of being he United first choice #9, which let's be fair is even more a pressure point given Amad, Nashers etc aren't really banging the goals in.

To the point on Amorim, I think with a more established and mature #9 we score more from him and more from all the players in the team.

Very boring game.
We played ok, Chelsea a touch better overall but did not do much going forward. Good to see Amad play well again, our only outlet in attack, he could be an assist machine if he had better quality with him up front.
Dorgu is gearing up, promising signs from the young player, looks rapid.
We should have a decent chance next week

He is a huge one as he is starting games for us in an immensely important position in this system and he does feck all. The thought of him starting on the LWB next season is quite sickening.

Feel like word came from above on this one to avoid getting hammered, found it odd to risk players given we clearly don’t care about the league since the Brentford game when we started a load of kids.
