Probably right I think, in which case you need to sell Bruno and bring in an Ederson type I suppose.

I'm just a sentimental fella who doesn't want to wave goodbye to the most entertaining player we've had in years.

I'd pass on Mbuemo and bring in that 8 behind Cunha & Bruno in that case, which is probably why I'm not a football manager.

We clearly need some athleticism and physical presence in the middle there.

My best hope is Onana fecks off and we get someone with the fee we get (20m or so). Before you turn up your nose at that fee, Vicario was 18M, Sels was 5M. I realize there's an inherent contradiction there, but I choose to be blind to it :wenger:

Let's be honest, Gyokeres isn't happening. Cunha - Mbuemo - Delap is already quite good.
 
Cunha, Mbuemo and Delap as a front three would be a hilarious upgrade on what we've been able to field this season.

It would be fantastic. Delap unlike Hojlund can actually link the play. Mbuemo has the tendency to play off the last defender and Cunha can go ball to feet.

This is why I'm not totally against Bruno being sold because neither he nor Mount should be playing across the front three if we identify what the team needs to move forward.

If Amorim can discipline Fernandes to strictly play as a more defensive number 8 then fair enough but he doesn't have the temperament as shown in the final to turn up week in week out in a double pivot.

I really don't buy this idea. He's got good qualities. The issue with many writing him off is they are basing their judgement on Hojlunds form / age and intermixing it with Delap.

He's essentially a premier league proven talent with the capacity to improve.

Yeah even as the starting CF I'm confident he'll do good. The skillsets needed are running the channels, some hold up, some ball carrying.

We should target 6th / 7th next season and he's more than enough to do that.

He's an ok player. He isn't good enough to start for us.

I guess we'll see. Just by adding goals into the team, we'll become a top half side. I just have big doubts that Delap is good enough. Hopefully he surprises me.

It's a punt like any transfer but the ceiling is there to be a Gyokeres type CF on the cheap. Shot power, carrying, hold up, running the channels.
 
He’s pretty good and ready for a big club, this is the kind of signing we should be making.

I don’t think we’ll be able to pull it off though.

Would be amongst my dream signings. Him & Cunha would completely transform our attack. Surprised we’re seemingly not interested in Wissa either.
 
He’s even better than Cunha and I was surprised to learn he’s the same age at 25, I was certain he was 29 or so. I don’t see us buying both of them though and since we seem set to sign Cunha, I am expecting Mbeumo to head elsewhere.

I could live with Delap if we can sign those two, although would be disappointed not to at least try for Mateta when Gyokeres ends up going to Arsenal
 
I think we have a better chance of bringing Antony back than signing Mbeumo, with Antony as the 10 and Amad as the RWB. Would also save a ridiculous amount of money and allow us to buy a CM.

Well that sully who tweeted earlier is usually the guy for Utd team news so can offer that. Also loosely mentioned in Whitwell article when talking about striker targets too. Afraid that's the best I can do for anything credible.
 
I have a feeling that Mbeumo would do well in a well developed system like at Arsenal, but struggle here. Let’s not overdo this Premier League proven crap and become Brenford while wasting another 300m pounds. Cunha is enough from the PL midtable/relegation zone for this summer, this team needs much more.

I don’t think he will struggle. He’ll shine here. If he can get 20 league goals for Brentford then why can’t he do well here. He’s a lot better in the final 3rd than any player we have.

Plus they both will thrive playing less football next season, we are seeing more and more burnout with multiple players, add Club World Cup , European football and next years World Cup then it’s obvious both will be trying to play their best football, I do think we need another Elite CM like Ederson or Carlos Baleba to mix it up and we may have to sell Ugarte to get one, under no circumstances should we entertain Kobbie Bids?

I don’t really understand this kind of logic. It’s Delap’s first proper season in the league, playing for one of the worst teams.

Mbeumo’s scoring record before this year has been completely average, signing players for big money off the back of one good season should be something we’re actively avoiding.

In fact, Delap has more non penalty goals that Sesko this season, so what is it that makes you think he’s not right?
