Trent Alexander Arnold | Real Madrid Player

My point is that in this particular instance, the booing specifically towards Zirkzee was unwarranted.

We have a manager who's being treated with kid gloves because it's his first season and he hasn't had a transfer window etc. but on the other hand a young player in his first season under his second manager in a matter of months, gets singled out for booing in the first half of a game when the entire team had a shocking half.

As I said in an earlier post, I see the booing of Trent as people who've been his family expressing their displeasure towards him just to get it out of their system. I'll change my mind if it happens again, but I'm sure Trent would prefer this to them doing it at the parade and making it awkward for everyone involved
I do agree with that point on Zirkzee. He became the target instead of the whole team, because he was taken off early. If he was just subbed at half-time, there wouldn't have been a problem. It's not great. I just think booing Trent is worse.

If he gets on the pitch in their last game at Anfield this season, I'd expect it to happen again, but let's see.

Wonder would they have cheered him Sunday if he ended up scoring the winner in injury time?

Yeah wondered that myself, what is it with people (even Utd fans) keeping calling him Trent rather than Alexander-Arnold. Personally not a fan of it myself but probably just me that's bothered by that.

Aren't most people calling Bruno Fernandes by his first name too? Same goes for Gabriel Magalhães too, which makes even less sense since he's not even the only Gabriel in the team.

I find it interesting that they have Conor Bradley who Liverpool fans think would replace Trent, but are now linked with frimpong, a different type of right back/RWB.

Think I'd be pissed if I was Conor Bradley and Trent leaves and the club go buy someone for that slot.

Maybe because typing Trent or TAA is lot quicker?
I've stubbornly written his full name many times just because I dislike using chummy nicknames for Liverpool players but it really is very long.

I try to avoid "Trent" (probably not been 100% successful). "TAA" isn't too bad, but I'm also generally of a mind to type the whole thing out.

Really annoys me as well!

It’s just because it’s easier to say, and he has an unusual first name.

If his name was Steve, they wouldn’t do it.

The following were quick rough counts so could be a little off but I think there is an interesting simularity in ratios, though I spend a lot less time arguing with Liverpool fans than your good self.

My references:
  • Alexander-Arnold: 4 uses
  • TAA: 3 uses
  • Trent: 0 uses

Alex's references:
  • TAA: 16 uses
  • Alexander-Arnold: 15 uses
  • Trent: 3 uses

Trent

Suffer

Now you know how I feel everytime people refer to players with composite names by the second part of it

Not a big fan of Trent as a player. Prefer Hendo, Bobby, not to mention Stevie G.

Because his parents gave him a terrible double barrelled surname that is long to write and cumbersome to say. Generally happens with longer names they will be shortened like Kvara for Kvaratskhelia or Lewa for Lewandowski and they’re shorter than Alexander-Arnold. Can’t call him just Alexander or Arnold either as they’re too generic and nobody would know who you meant.

One of the less surprising things to find out.

Actually, was Zirkzee booed or did he get an ironic cheer when he was subbed off? That would be even more humiliating I think!

Only Liverpool can get a transfer fee for a free agent, the football gods just love to add salt in our deep wounds.

£10m for a player with a month left on their contract is madness!

Wasn't Madrid's opening offer less than a million?

How on earth do Liverpool do it?

In fairness as jammy as it is, i dont think the 10m is just for the friendly, its likely to be a sweetener to keep the clubs relationship good considering i think liverpool could do the whole tribunal thing and get around 4m anyway?

It can be partly that, but also the fact almost all our defenders are injured and the tournament offers loads of money to the winners.

WTAF

I really don’t understand this - surely a club would be happy to let them leave early to get the wages off their books for the last month of contract?

Doesn't the player have to be under 24 for that?

We pretty much have to beg other clubs to take talented youngsters like Elanga and Henderson for 15m, and here Liverpool are getting gifted 10m by Madrid so they don't fall out.

I have no idea the specifics if im honest, i seem to remember pretty high compensation for academy players who leave on bosmans.

10 million for a free agent. Liverpool really do have incredible fortune when it comes to the transfer market.
