Bryan Mbeumo | Improved offer not actually placed yet (Ducker) | United confident they can close the deal

Him and Cunha were top of the league in goals over expected last season. Either that means they are excellent finishers or got incredibly lucky. Let’s hope for the former as we’ve not had much of it since Van Persie.

Wow. Can’t believe what I’m seeing. 2 of the best players in the prem last season actually wanting to join us without CL football. Amorim must be a very convincing guy. And we still have the pulling power

Wowie. That is some news. Cunha and Mbueno is a lot of goals and creativity. INEOS sem to be putting their money where there mouth it.

Let's get it done soon

Also worst case scenario next year if Amorim gets the sack both Cunha and Mbuemo aren’t stuck to 3-4-3 formation. They can easily transition to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 as well.

Fair enough, if he really wants to come here I'm all aboard.

So if United were to sign Mbuemo alongside Cunha and sell Fernandes, are they in a better place going into next season (pending other signings/sales).

Yes that’s right because they are football players

We don’t need to sell Fernandes yet but we arent getting a cheap striker in either Delap or David so we will wait and see if we still have the money for a top striker.

On May 4th, I wrote that the players I would like to see sign for United are Cunha and Mbeumo.

I can not express how happy I'm right now. I would've been gutted if he went to Newcastle. Already getting excited for next season.

The way I see it is that we are in a better place for the medium term. Fernandes is a proven entity, new signings always need to prove their worth but on paper we are in a better position for the next 3-5 years no doubt.

Would people here take someone like Mateta for instance? He might become available this summer too?

We’d still need a striker and a midfielder that can replace Bruno’s creativity. He’s the highest chance creator in the league, that’s not easily replaced.

I realise there are no certainties I football but £50 million for a 25 year old with 20 goals last season doesn't seem too bad.

Omar Berrada: a man, a plan, a rationale!
People will still try to tell you with a straight face that our recruitment is still shite. I made the point yesterday in another thread, our recruitment wasn't perfect last summer but it was an improvement on previous years and it should be even better this summer now we've had Vivell in for the full season. He arrived late last summer and was only in a temporary role, him and Wilcox have had the full season together to plan signings. Cunha and Mbeumo is a fantastic start.

Personally if we got this done I'd strongly consider bringing in David. He might not be the strongest option but he's an experienced CF and still fairly young. Also on a free right? Would be a canny transfer for us unless we're thinking of bringing in an actual big money CF signing.

Huge upgrade to our forwards options and certainly the right statement of intent.

Longer term, probably yes. Cashing in on a soon to be 31 year old for big money and bringing in two players who have put up good numbers and look physically ready for the Premier League (and crucially, a step up) is probably a net gain.

The biggest thing will be making other signings around that to give proper balance to the team. I still think we're horribly unbalanced and the midfield in particular needs surgery.

Surely an upgrade on the likes of Sancho and Garnacho in the immediate term. Some of our forwards have been living off reputation alone.

Yep we should have been in for David from the start.

I suggested we should have done this signing 6 months ago but for some reason our brass doesn’t fancy him.
