Bruno Fernandes Out? | Staying at Man United

It's madness, a load of them seem genuinely gutted.
I like Bruno but he's also not the future if we take a 3-4 year view, given his age. Not clear how he fits in Amorim's system if we buy 2 new 10s and he is not a CM. So I dont see it at all surprising people saw this as an opportunity to raise some funds and address the CM position.

They're just the same bunch who moaned about him constantly last season. He kept them quiet for most of the season but it doesn't take much for them to be triggered back into action.

How many players in our history would have turned that offer down in our current state?

Legend behaviour.

Shameful response to this news from some in this thread. The lot of you are more interested in shiny transfers than actual footballers. This man is the reason we are anything other than a completely irrelevant bottom half PL team who will finish in the bottom half of the PL again next year. Our only unequivocally top class footballer (amongst a handful who are good or very promising, admittedly), the most creative player in the PL since he joined, our most committed, hardest working player. Plays as much football as any top footballer in the world and never once complains - in fact, it seems he hates to be left out of any game, no matter how inconsequential. The 'who would be captain if Bruno leaves' thread shows how spineless we would be without him.

If a big European club comes for him, I'll wish him well. He'd deserve it. At Madrid or Bayern or Barca or PSG he'd have got a hatful of trophies and would be going down as one of the best of his generation. Just imagine what his assist stats would be like if he'd spent the last five years at Madrid. Instead he's grafted and struggled through our doldrum years with us. And ultimately he's given us his career, because no European club is going to offer the kind of fee we'd demand for a 30-year-old. And thank god, because we're at the weakest, most precarious point in our history since relegation in '74, and losing really the only reliable foundation this squad has at this point could be catastrophic.

Rant over.
His contribution is to keep us a relevant bottom half PL team?

Fantastic few days. I don't support a fecking bank, I support a football club. Our captain and best player staying is only good news.
Can't be said enough. What good is that money? Buy a load more overpriced risks who don't pay off? We can't even attract the best without CL anyway.

Great news, but if Romano has the inside scoop and he's saying Bruno wants to play at the top level in Europe, then if I'm reading that right, he may still be on the move this summer because that ain't us anymore.

I do worry a Bruno, Case, Ugarte and Mainoo midfield is far from good enough.

I’m just worried the balance will be well off with Bruno, Cunha and Mbeumo all starting…not to mention Amad at RWB

Leaves 1 defensive midfielder in the middle of the park. No doubt Bruno will put a shift in though if we can get it working it should be insanely good
You can also have a more defensive WB on the left and you’d have 5 defensive outfield players and 5 attacking ones, that’s balanced enough I think. If trained well.

We are a bottom half team right now, it's a fact. Our table position until next season starts is 15th.

Our relevance comes down to whether you think next season will be dramatically better or not. Keeping by far our best footballer would be a good start.

Top level in europe meaning where he is now in the prem, not a small league like saudi for example
Think you're coping, if he wanted to stay Fabrizio would of worded it that way, he will still look to leave just in europe.

What a guy. It would have been great business for us no doubt but this is how legends are made.

You surely have to take some level of confidence from it. If he felt we were just going to stand still he would have surely taken the money. With Cunha and likely Mbeumo coming in and hopefully a striker too then maybe, just maybe he sees a glimmer of hope we might be turning a corner.

We ARE an irrelevant bottom half PL team and i'd say we are odds on to finish in the bottom half again next year given our financial situation, the huge amount of improvements that need to be made and our coach.

I like Bruno but still investing his 100M on players like Wharton/Baleba could take the club forward in a more balanced way.
He had a very good season but dont forget for 2 years (2022 and 2023) 90% of the fans here want him gone because of his poor ball control ability, having said that his stats speaks volumes but i think better we need a balanced team to play modern football.

It says he wants to play top level football in Europe. Does that mean he's open to a move, just not to Saudi?
Seems like.

I think if a top club comes in, he will tell the club he wants out and the club will grant him his wish.

Amazing the lengths some will go to demean our best player, especially if he winds up staying.
He is clearly a troll, and no doubt a previously banned member, and should be booted from the forum.

I always feel that you cannot play with 3 in attack plus Bruno, it just leaves gaping holes in Midfield.
Going forward, could Bruno play a false 9 ala Firmino..?

Or could we play with just the 2 numbers 10's up top, 2 industrious CMFs and Bruno in a free role linking up..?

It's always difficult to separate head from heart where Bruno is concerned.
He showed he can play in midfield more than well. With 3 at the back, it's just a question of how aggressive we lineup. If we play with higher back line and more athletic defenders, 3 at the back allow CBs to be more aggressive and step in midfield more often and the space he operates in will be smaller as well. The wing backs should slot in as well depending on situation, so technically it can be midfield three.

Just need another physical player next to him to cover more ground ( while being good on the ball). Let's see who we bring over the summer. Baleba or Wharton would be awesome but out of reach this window.

Nice one Captain! If our best player wants to stay, this can only be good news.

I was just joking. Of course we're still relevant regardless of what happens next season.

I want Bruno to stay because his value to the side in the coming season far outweighs the club's competence at reinvesting the windfall his sale would provide.

Let's see what Amorim does with his shiny new signings from this summer and if he can be trusted with any input on subsequent big money moves.

I mean “massive respect” and all that etc. but let’s not pretend a similar offer won’t be back on the table from Saudi in January or even summer 2026.

Probably even moreso because the longer we keep him, the less money they’d have to pay on the transfer fee and more directed to his wage!

With 3 at the back, and if you genuinely want your wingbacks to actually push up the pitch you can't afford to have a midfielder in your team as reckless as Bruno is on the ball unfortunately.

It isn’t. Casemiro is too comfortable with his feet under the table to think about moving, and Ugarte is too new a signing for us to launch him into the sun (what we should do).

I think we’ll either suffa-ball for one more season with the priority transfer positions being further forward, or we’ll skimp and sign a new CM who just doesn’t offer everything we need.

Why do people think he is staying?

The wording of that article suggests that he want's to leave but just not to Saudi Arabia.

It means we won't be getting a massive transfer fee for him.

What it means is now Garnacho, Mainoo maybe have to be sold on top of Rashford, Sancho, Antony.

I think he still ends up going but not at the price Al-Hilal have offered

Happy with that. Hopefully Cunha, Mbeumo, Amad and Bruno can deliver some great attacks next season.
