Don't know, but Fabio's the topscorer in the World Cup with 4 goals in the first two games. And that's from a defender!

Fabio looks real quality, he's a very solid defender as an addition to his obvious attacking qualities. He actually scored a 3rd goal today which was ruled out, and ran down the wing the whole game. Unhuman stamina. I'm very excited by him, although the opposition so far in the tournament for Brazil has been horrible.

The thing I noticed about him is that like Evra he will get forward at every opportunity but he always seems to be back to defend when needed and is rarely caught out.

A very exciting prospect indeed.

Impressive performance by Fabio today. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him played as a winger or an attacking midfielder at United. I also wouldn't be shocked to see him and Alexandre Pato make the Brazil squad for the next WC. Both fantastic players. The verdict is still out on Raphael.

I agree. Rafael and his brother were like the old carlos and cafu and Brazil in general looked very good. What I like is that Fabio's goals are different. His over head goal on youtube is exceptional technique for a full back.

Rafael had a good shot on goal today that flashed wide so maybe there's hope for him yet :D . It will be interesting to see how they fair against stiffer opponants

www.fifa.com. Click on information on a U17 match, then highlights.

Noticed that he scored with two headers (actually one shoulders), but I'm struggeling to decide on his size. Nice to hear that he seems solid in defence to, although this is expected on this level if he is a good prospect. The fact that his goals where headers might implify that he is not a typicall Brazilian back when it comes to size, nevertheless, to score a couple of goals with headers in a U17 tournemant against Korea might not say to much about his aerial-abilities, but I really hope this is a bigger player than Evra. Physique is really important.

That said, Evra's really small but has a great physique, and many players manage well without it.

The more I hear about this kid the less I think it is silliness.

Seems to really be true quality at this level - it will be interesting to see his development.

How many International goals does Fabio have?

Wasn't he also the top scorer (or thereabouts) for Brazil (U-17 or U-19) in another tournament played earlier this year? How come he scores so many?

EDIT - It was in the South American U-17 Championship. Lulinha was the top scorer with 12 but Fabio came second with 7 goals.

This Fabio seems to score an incredible amount of goals for a left back.

Brazilian fullbacks tend to play better in Europe as wingers or attacking fullbacks. If they keep on improving then we would have adequate cover/competition for Gaz and Evra + would permit us to use OShea upfront to solve our lack of goals problem (the last part is dedicated to Hairdryer ;))

Fabio is very attack minded where as Rafael is more of a traditional right back. Very good prospects these lads. Surprisingly the quality of football at the U17 has been pretty good.

3-0 after just 8 minutes - 2 goals by Fabio! Fabio is the captain as always.
It's live on Eurosport for those interested.

*Sorry if it's the wrong forum, but they are not aprt of the youth acadaby nor reserves, so I thought I'd put it here
fecking hell, 2 goals in 8 minutes from a full-back :D

Just thought I'd look through some of these threads to see what was said about them at the time.

It's been a while though. I can't find anything on the net about the injury.
I think somebody mentioned Fabio and his injury in the Rafael thread, the one about a 10 year contract.
