Breaking news on SSN now.

To leave at the end of the season and be replaced by Pep Guardiola.

Can't say I'm particularly surprised by this news, it was on the cards that he would get the boot.

His last chance at anything was to beat us in the CL
That bad game against madrid was probably the last nail in the coffin

That's like United appointing Robbo as the new manager...

everyone was expecting it, but im not sure he deserves to go. he did a very good job there, and he will definitely leave with an enhanced reputation.

Barca's problems aren't primarily with him - they are with that bunch of lazy selfish primadonas on the pitch.

Not really surprising news. Also wouldn't surprise me if Mourinho turned up there sometime soon..

Rijkaard to leave Barcelona post

Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard is to step down at the end of the season and will be replaced by the club's reserve team coach Josep Guardiola.

Former Dutch international Rijkaard, 45, took charge at the Nou Camp in 2003 and won La Liga in 2005 and 2006, as well as the Champions League in 2006.
But Barca have not won a trophy since and currently lie third in the table.
Guardiola, 37, played for Barca for 17 years from 1984-2001 before returning to coach their reserves in 2007.

Mourinho's ego is so big that it frightens off chairmen, who also happen to have big egos. Laporta goes for Guardiola (small ego) to replace Rijkaard.

will laudrup stay at getafe?

i really thought he was going to get the barca post. wasn't he cruijff's choice?

mourinho, With his style, he'll find it difficult to work anywhere else besides england (i.e. he wants control over everything like wenger, fergie, etc).

He'll be back in the premiership soon enough.

Got stuffed by Real 4-1, and now I think its 6 points behind Villareal.

We really fecked up their season.
Who can guaranty they wouldnt be trashed by an organised Chelsea team in the final if they would have progressed againt us. I think Rijkaard didnt get the sack against us (even when it meant they wont be winning any trophies this season), he got it after the trash they got against Madrid.

true.

it's been fascinating watching the decline of Barca over the past two years. it's been mirrored almost exactly by the decline and fall of Ronaldinho. he is the reason for Barca's dominance, which is why i laugh when people claim that Messi is anywhere near what Ronaldinho was three or so seasons ago.

Barca is the new Real.
Yeah that is probably right they are the current Galacticos but they just dont have the chemistry or right players, no doubt there is endless quality in their side
