Replacing Rooney

I thought this was a load of paper talk. But quotes from the Press Association are beginning to concern me that the idea of him leaving is now legitimate.

Aguero could not replace Rooney... he's a tad overrated in my opinion, Pato on the other hand is the real deal.. too expensive for us and I read recently he'd only leave Milan for Barca.

Id take that right now, simply because i think its going to look a lot worse next summer, Tottenham will never sell Bale and Modric, one would ask would either want to come? without Rooney you could argue Spurs have a better team than us on paper.

No way.

Well Aguero wouldn't come here anyway, his wages would be monstrous.

Basically, Rooney is just about irreplaceable, not quite to the extent of Ronaldo, but still, I genuinely can't think of any viable targets who could give us what he does.

Spurs would want over £20 million for Bale; he isn't worth that but he's British and we like paying over the odds for Spurs players.

I'd still like him though.

I feel Bale is well worth 20 mil. Super replacement for Giggs.

Thomas Muller or Alex Pato, failing that I guess Dzeko or maybe Llorente might be shouts, I haven't seen Aguero this season, how's he doing?

If we sell Rooney then its going to be a nightmare to attract other big names seem as top players are aware that we are crippled with debt by evil scumbags and there might not be many big signings in the future.
If Rooney does go then anything other than this line up will not be good enough!!
--------Fletcher-------Rodwell--------
Nani---------Cleverly---------Bale
-----------Benzema/Macheda-----------------

Mauro Zarate (not that I've seen him play much :) )

I'd love to get Pato, but losing Rooney (if that is to be the case), I think SAF would want to replenish some of the British core to the team, especially since Scholes, Gaz and Giggs (not British but might as well be) are all retiring soon.

Rodwell, P.Jones, Bale + Benzema (in the swap deal for Rooney + 40M).

Seriously we'll sign Andy Carroll.

What makes you so sure?

Without Rooney we would have Berbatov, Hernandez, Macheda, Welbeck and Owen. I wouldn't have Carroll over any of them apart from Micheal Owen

Fergie wouldn't bring in a trouble maker like him, he's just been arrested on assualt charges again, Fergie wont dirty the clubs image.

It's the same assault as far as i'm aware. It's in the news because he's just been charged with it.

If he does leave though I can't see him going to Europe. He could well end up at City as a final feck you to fergie if the relationship is as broken as we're being led to believe!!

And to think tevez lining up for them was shite, seeing rooney up top for them makes me want to vomit

I have this regen player in FM who has scored 40 goals for me last season.

I'd be happy to sell him to United.

Can you please explain how Rooney might end up at City as a final feck you?

Fergies been looking at him for some time, and its the sort of signing we seem to be making these days, a young potential signing over a proven product has been fergies approach for a while now, a young English striker with potential i think would seriously interest Sir Alex.

Who knows but all ill say is i wouldn't be at all surprised if we signed Carroll, be similar to the replacing of Ronaldo with Valencia really, a promising young star at a lower premier league team..

:D

So, seeing as its a done deal that Rooney is off somewhere, anywhere, the more sensational the better.

Who would we buy to replace him?

Lets assume we get 50-60million for him, ignore the debt, and that its made available for a replacement (I know its pie in the sky but hey, thats not stopping anyone!)

I'd think I'd go for Aguero...

I never thought I'd live to see the day...

If Rooney was to look to hurt Fergie, where would he agree a move to? City is the only club in the country that could offer a bumper pay deal!

Money talks and rooney, IMO, would look to remain in the North East that go to Spain

Like most i can't believe we are having this conversation, and like most part of me hopes its just all tabloid talk though also fear there may be a semblance of truth in the circulating stories.

Rooney = Benzema + 35mill
35mill = Bale

I would have hoped to have the above 2 as additions to rooney, though both are young and IMO capable of making an impact in the team.

As I've said before, Spurs would want well over 30m for Bale ... and even then would be reluctant sellers.

Bale is quite simply one of the best LWs in Europe, has only just turned 21 and will likely eventually become equally adept in either the LB or LW slot. Spurs don't need the cash and don't wish to sell.

So the idea that he would be sold for anything in the 20m range is pure wishful thinking on here ... the same wishful thinking that was applied to suggested fees for Berbatov before the actual fee became apparent.

Bale would be pure sex of a signing, if we could get him and a decent Rooney replacement thats not Andy i hit women Carroll or Hugo im shit and play for wigan rodallega then i wouldn't be overly dissapointed, Bale is as natural a giggs replacements as ive seen.

Bale + Nani down the flanks = Jizzathon

So you're saying Rooney will bide his time until he can move for free, then move to Cty for the money and to hurt Sir Alex?

Because thats the only possible way it'll happen.

Why would the club sanction a sale to City when that would shit on us in every way? They wouldnt. Its a nonsense suggestion. If he was to move on, we'd make sure to sell him to a foreign club like all the rest before him.

if madrid offer 50 million but city 80+, i'm not sure if glazers will swallow leaving 30 million quid on the table just to have him go to madrid.

You do need the cash if you wish to push on. And Bale might want to move on to a club like United come the end of the season, you dont know that he wont.
