    Know The Opposition

Crystal Palace Football Club (nicknamed CPFC, The Glaziers and The Eagles) are a professional football club based in South Norwood, London. Crystal Palace were founded in 1905 at the site of the famous Crystal Palace Exhibition building by the owners of the FA Cup Final stadium, who wanted their own team to play at the historic venue. When Crystal Palace were founded, they turned to one of the biggest clubs in the country at the time, Aston Villa, to seek advice. Villa helped the club in a number of ways, not least by donating their kit. As a result, Palace's colors were originally claret and blue shirts paired with white shorts, socks tending to be claret. They kept to this formula fairly consistently until 1938.

The club initially played their home games at the FA Cup Final stadium which was situated inside the grounds of The Crystal Palace, but the First World War saw them forced to move out, and they enjoyed a number of seasons at both the Herne Hill Velodrome and The Nest. Although Crystal Palace have never won a major trophy, they have played in the First Division for the majority of their existence, finishing 3rd once, and losing the 1990 FA Cup Final to Manchester United. Crystal Palace play their homes games at Selhurst Park, and share sporting rivalries with South London neighbors Milwall, former tenants Charlton, and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Should be a nice and comfortable evening for the defending champions.

Think we will find Dalot on the left with Lindelof at RB. Casemiro rested for Amrabat. Rashford hopefully dropped to bench. Martial and Garnacho in.

Sneak a win by one goal.

I think we rotate some. We will play a strong 11 though.

    Onana
    Dalot - Lindelof - Varane - Martinez
    Casemiro - Amrabat
    Bruno - Hannibal - Garnacho
    Martial

I doubt Amrabat starts, wasn't this his first game since the conference league final?

He's probably way off full fitness, i think he'll get 30 minutes.

Couldn't care any less about this competition. Might even be better to get eliminated all things considered. Play the kids and Donny.

    Hoping:
    Onana
    Lindelöf Varane Evans Dalot
    Amrabat Eriksen
    Sancho/Pellistri Bruno Garnacho
    Martial

    Expecting:
    Onana
    Dalot Varane Lindelöf Amrabat
    McTominay Eriksen
    Bruno Hannibal Rashford
    Hojlund

Do we have defenders from the reserve team ready to step up?

Last season ETH screwed up by trying to win all the trophies and ended up running the team into the ground. He should stick to second string only for this cup this season otherwise come December he’ll have no one left to pick.

Time to use the squad depth... oh wait we're already forced to.

Protect the most precious - Bruno, Casemiro, Hojlund, Rashford and any defender that can walk

CL commitments should mean this becomes a lower priority. Don't want to Cas anywhere near this game, would also be wrapping up Bruno and hold Varane off to the more important stuff.

Amrabat/McT/Hannibal midfield, with Garnacho and Pellistri flanking Martial, Maybe Donny in midfield in if Amrabat has to play FB.

No one we're expecting to start on Saturday should be playing in this game.

    Onana

    Dalot
    Lindelof
    Maguire (assuming fit)
    Amrabat

    Hannibal
    McTominay
    Eriksen

    Pellistri
    Martial
    Garnacho

Ten hag said Amrabat can cover FB plus Maguire hopefully can feature soon. This line up has enough quality to create and enough physicality.

Bruno Casemiro Varane, Hojlund and Rashford all get good rest + recovery.

We can call a combination from the bench if needed, and Mount might be able to be reintroduced too.

We're playing them twice in a row, aren't we? We need to get some momentum so it would be nice to win them both. I don't think we can afford to just play the u21s in this. Normally I'd be all for playing the reserves or youths but we sort of need to get a streak going - and we are already down to the reserves.

Last 4 matches Roy Hodgson has managed teams in Old Trafford

    Feb 26, 2022 Premier league 0-0 v Watford
Sep 19, 2020 Premier League 3-1 win for Crystal Palace
Aug 24, 2019 Premier League 2-1 win for Crystal Palace
    Nov 24, 2018 Premier league 0-0 v Crystal Palace

Last home win was for United against his side was Sep 30, 2017 (4-0) and only Rashford,Martial who played that day are still around playing for United today.

Give Casemiro, Hojlund and Rashford a rest. Save Varane and Amrabat for the weekend.

All things considered given we’re in the CL to win it and will be there or thereabouts in the league? Ridiculous comment. This is practically the only trophy we can win.

Probably our best chance of another trophy this season so may aswell go for it. That being said we should rest players, bring in Amrabat, Martial, Garnacho and Pellistri for Hojlund, Casemiro, Rashford and Bruno.

I'd stick with Onana in goal. The more he plays together with the defenders the better, build some kind of an understanding even?
