Fußball-Club Bayern München e. V., also known as FC Bayern, Bayern Munich, or simply Bayern, is a German professional sports club based in Munich, Bavaria. It is best known for its professional men's association football team, which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. FC Bayern Munich was founded by members of a Munich gymnastics club (MTV 1879). When a congregation of members of MTV 1879 decided on 27 February 1900 that the footballers of the club would not be allowed to join the German Football Association (DFB), 11 members of the football division left the congregation and on the same evening founded Fußball-Club Bayern München. By 1920, it had over 700 members, making it the largest football club in Munich. Although Bayern won its first national championship in 1932, the club was not selected for the Bundesliga at its inception in 1963.

Fielding a team with young talents like Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller and Sepp Maier – who would later be collectively referred to as the axis, they achieved promotion to the Bundesliga in 1965. In their first Bundesliga season, Bayern finished third and also won the DFB-Pokal. This qualified them for the following year's European Cup Winners' Cup, which they won in a dramatic final against Scottish club Rangers. Udo Lattek took charge in 1970. After winning the DFB-Pokal in his first season, Lattek led Bayern to their third German championship. The deciding match in the 1971–72 season against Schalke 04 was the first match in the new Olympiastadion, and was also the first live televised match in Bundesliga history. Bayern beat Schalke 5–1 and thus claimed the title, also setting several records, including points gained and goals scored. Bayern also won the next two championships, but the zenith was their triumph in the 1974 European Cup Final against Atlético Madrid, which Bayern won 4–0 after a replay. This title – after winning the Cup Winners' trophy 1967 and two semi-finals (1968 and 1972) in that competition – marked the club's breakthrough as a force on the international stage. During the following years, the team was unsuccessful domestically but defended their European title by defeating Leeds United in the 1975 European Cup Final. A year later in Glasgow, Saint-Étienne were defeated as Bayern became the third club to win the trophy in three consecutive years.

Overall, Bayern have won six European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles (a German record), winning their sixth title in the 2020 final as part of the Treble, after which it became the second European club to achieve the feat twice. Bayern has also won one UEFA Cup, one European Cup Winners' Cup, two UEFA Super Cups, two FIFA Club World Cups and two Intercontinental Cups, making it one of the most successful European clubs internationally, and the only German club to have won both international titles. Bayern players have accumulated five Ballon d'Or awards, two The Best FIFA Men's Player awards, four European Golden Shoe and three UEFA Men's Player of the Year awards, including UEFA Club Footballer of the Year. The club has traditional local rivalries with 1860 Munich and 1. FC Nürnberg. Since the 1970s, Bayern's main domestic rivals have been the clubs who put up the strongest fight against its national dominance. Amongst their chief European rivals are Real Madrid, A.C. Milan, and Manchester United due to many classic wins, draws and losses. Bayern play their home games at the Allianz Arena.

Feels a bit like Liverpool at the start of last season, and we managed a win in that game.

Could equally end like the return match vs Liverpool, mind

They have actually been bad at defending and game management, so 6-3 to Bayern.

All the well deserved desperation aside, this will be a completely different game. Bayern will try to play and create, allowing United to sit back more and wait for opportunities to counter. We're still not too solid defensively and love giving away pens, so this might be much more up your alley than playing an in form underdog like Brighton.

Sancho knows them well, that could come in handy.

Ten hag, time to prove you are worth being the manager of Man United. Can't keep getting battered by big clubs. Lose here and serious questions need to be asked. feck the small games if we can't perform in any big game.

I honestly haven`t got a single clue what type of game we need here to win. We have 2 wins so far this season and both were against shit teams and both were by the smallest possible margins. If you start the game with 11 players (doesn`t really matter what players) you will have the easiest 3 points of the season. Sadly.

    A mauling wouldn’t be a shock result. Perhaps a 7-0

3-0 or 3-1. Bayern were winning this even if we had won today’s game convincingly.

Considering we were comprehensively beaten today though I honestly don’t think we will even beat Burnley next weekend.

    A disaster of week incoming.

I agree, I want a long term manager as much as anyone but the messiah complex given by some is a bit much. He needs to improve just as much as the players and idiots running the club do.

Only a world-class bottle job by them will result in us getting a point. They should easily roll us.

We get smashed in big games regularly, especially away. We will look like a Regionalliga side

Another battering here and I wouldn't be against a change. Things progress quickly in football. You gotta change before you throw away the season. I'm all for time when it's deserved, but when you are the cause of the issues, then your days are numbered. Ten hag was the problem today, and if he can't get a performance on Wednesday despite now having a CF and a GK that fits any modern way of playing... well what is the use of him?

Had to chuckle a bit at this one.

Think it will be a lot closer than you guys imagine.
