Don’t overstate this. Bayern in 2 months from now will be a different team
Hopefully we'll be a different team in the coming weeks and months too once we regain some confidence. Bayern are obviously a class act, but I do expect us to have too much for Galatasaray and Copenhagen in the other group games.

Midfield needs complete revamp(Casemiro, Eriksen, Bruno). That's my definite conclusion after this game, if we want to compete against the best teams in the world. No ball carrying, ball retention, press resistance whatsoever. "Hot potato" midfield, as I call it. That's how they treat the ball, release it as soon as possible, often doesn't even matter where. It also lacks athleticism, legs, speed. We're going nowhere with it.

The enormous, glaring, problem with your plan is that it means playing Maguire and Lindelof at CB together. Which, unless you've only just recovered from a 3 year coma, you should know isn't nearly good enough.
    Oh feck off.

What is the point in even interacting with dickheads like you.

    fecking prick.

Ericksen legs gone and Bruno toooooo quick to release the possible wonder pass. However have a look at the second goal for Bayern Musiala build up there is a handball in there by him. Ignored by var.

A few calling for Mainoo to be a starter?
Coby is still just a kid.
An excellent prospect, looking very mature, measured and advanced for his age.
He’s going to be an important player for us, if it all comes good.
    But he’s still a kid.
Inexperienced, a couple of years to go in physical development etc.
I think ETH will use him sparingly, on the right occasions.
You can’t expect him to be thrown in at the deep end.

Getting Amrabat into this side can’t come soon enough though.
Every team is going to target our soft CM, until we sort it out.

    .
Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess but yeah bizarre seeing people claiming that an academy kid with barely any first team football is the answer to our midfield woes.

    Or a proper var call
    Or a back tracking defence
    Or a covering midfield
All that for sure, but a new keeper wasn't nearly as high a priority as a proven striker and a proven CB. We got neither and we are paying the price for it now.

Their keeper was as bad in Højlund’s goal as Onana was on their first goal. Those can cancel each other out. The worrying thing is how we seem to be conserving energy, not tracking runners, not stepping up to prevent an easy shot on goal.

Pretty sure the plan was to reduce Eriksen’s minutes, and probably Casemiro’s as well. Amrabat and Mount are back in training, so that should push McT and Eriksen to the bench. Varane is in training, so hopefully Lindelof also goes to the bench.

I don’t know what to say about Onana just yet. We knew he would get done from his buccaneering style of play, but he’s been letting in a bunch of goals that we are used to seeing saved. I think we picked the right time to let DeGea go, but I also said his reflexes are still top drawer. Onana appears to be a good keeper who can pass and receive under pressure, which is what we needed, but he’s not a top drawer keeper. Barthez is about right, we just need to stop playing like absolute cnuts in front of him.

Positives are Højlund has scored in both matches he’s played for us. He might end up being a monster.

Losing by 1 goal is better than I expected. Too bad they scrapped the away goals rule.

The hate boner people have for Rashford is unreal. Every single matchday thread is filled with people blaming him for absolutely everything. It's getting so boring. The truth is that nearly all our attacks were coming down the left with Rashford and Reguilion for most of the match, with Pellistri and Dalot barely in the game. And then when Garnacho came on for Pellistri and Rashford switched to the right...most of our attacks were suddenly coming down the right.

It's hilarious that when Garnacho got on the end of a Rashford cross they instantly started saying that Garnacho had done more than Rashford 'in 5 seconds' ....while simultanesouly ignoring the fact that the cross came from Rashford! Do they realise how ridiculous they're being?
Im glad that there are others that can see that Rashford isn’t the issue and if we had a RW with the same output and threat we’d be in a better place.

It's different gravy, different levels. No saying Serie A is bad but I have seen better pressing in Eccles Sunday League, so of course Onana has all the time in the world to be a 'Footballing GK'
I think it's unfair to not allow him some time to settle in before fully assessing. He is young. If his performances don't cost us many more games - I'd withhold judgement until the end of the season.

I don't think he even looks great on the ball. Better than De Gea, but I've seen plenty of keepers who look better.
he's only played 5 games for United, its not really a fair sample size
He's looked good at his other clubs. But he needs to get the basics right and not make any more stupid mistakes.

That reminds me. I've got an Arsenal mate that stopped watching football from 2018 on grounds of their being a a lack of quality and soul in European football, he claimed the defenders these days are trash, midfielders lack imagination, average offensive players, too much diving, cheating and the sport as a whole has gotten predictable. He had so much conviction, that he starting watching NBA from 2018. I'm not sure why, he's had a change of tune and returned to watching football since January. It's this Arsenal fan that invited me to his house to watch it with him.
Ha, I think we know why he changed his tune. Arsenal are a bit different these days compared to 2018!

I don't actually know if you're a United fan or not (I always assumed you were) but I hope you had a good time.
