The positive thing is at least we should not burn out soon for putting too much effort into games ;).

Not good. We can blame Jose all we want but some of our players look hardly interested. ANother game where Martial seems to care less. His off the ball movement is that of a lower league player. Ibra is shocking. I wont mind Lukaku coming and scoring and getting it done in 90 mins.

pretty clear Zlatan has rushed himself back far too soon in some quest to appear superhuman

He needs games but he should really have spent a month with the reserves before getting near the first team

I really hope the second half improves, this is dire Bristol make us look like a championship side instead of the other way round. Ibra really looks to be struggling, can't see him finishing out this game. Good to see him back, sad to see the uncertainty.

Martial our best player so far IMO, Rashford needs to improve and Ibra is far from form.

    Zlatan understandably rusty.
We have been gash, to be honest. BC by far and away the better team. The lack of movement and urgency in pretty much anything we do is really worrying.

I'm expecting them to score, first 10mins of 2nd half.

Statues in the final third. SAF would have ripped into all of them for not making runs for each other.
Slow zombie football was sir alex ferguson style in his later years, he would have asked the team to get a goal and head back to OT, He also wouldnt have played such a strong side or gave two hoots about this competition.

Some desperate to see Ibra back at the expense of Lukaku and now they are slating him. Only in the match day thread

Observations - nice to have Rojo, Lindelof and Blind be able to play out from the back.

Darmain is just woefully average. Luke Shaw looks desperate to try and impress, it's a shame that he gets so few games because he's technically much more assured than most of our other defenders. Really feels like having something close to Evra again with his pace out there, but we just don't seem sure how to use him.

Pogba's vision is great. Mctominay's passing into feet is pretty good, but he needs to relax on the ball and either learn how to shoot/cross or find another option.

Martial's been good. Ibra's been poor. Rashford just feels like a 50/50 toss up as to whether he'll either do something good or just lose the ball. I like Rashford but the more I watch of him the less I'm sure if he has the technical skill to play as a wide forward. I think striker is much more his more natural role.

No way Ibra will start in the league soon. Lukaku get a lot of stick, but I think he has done well in the last few games and so we should keep playing him I think. Lingard is our second best attacker without a doubt. We miss him a lot today as well. Pretty much only Pogba and Martial/Rashford should play the next game hoping Valencia can play.

Pogba abit off key and Ibra still weeks away from form and fitness causes our play to be too slow in transition; means Rashford and Martial can't do as much damage as they want to.

Should take Ibra off and replace with Mkhi onto right with Rashford up top.

Summed up by Martial getting knocked over and just staying on the ground. No effort or urgency in getting up and getting a goal.

That lad does my head in.
I remember when he first came to United, not once did you ever see him track back, was so lazy. Then he changed and put in a good shift each game, well most. But today, just because we are playing a team in a lower division it doesn’t give them the excuse to take the night off and play as if they are having a kick about at the park.

Look at Bristol putting a right good shift in, if we had the same energy with the quality we have out there we would be at least 3 goals up.

The guy's just back from 7 or so months out with a cruciate ligament injury and it's his first start this season...

    ...give him a break ffs.
I love Ibra, don't get me wrong. It's just he's 36. Just tore his ACL and probably meniscus as well as part of it. He's not going to get back to any level where he'd be useful for us. Even if he didn't get injured, I doubt he'd be useful beyond this season, with the injury, no chance. I've had the injury, I know the struggle of getting back. It takes over a year to start anything like your old self, and even then, probably won't ever quite reach the same level of agility, explosiveness or power in your feet. When you're 36 and had that injury, then I'd say there's no chance in hell he gets anywhere close to it.

I like how they keep saying Ibra hit the post.. His shot was nowhere near the goal.

Martial’s attitude is so annoying. I think he needs to benched once more. He doesn’t get angry, he doesn’t have any aggression, he just plays like he’s already won 13 Ballon d’Or gongs.

What is Romero doing? 3 times hes spilled the ball when he's had it in his hands. I'm not having the "players are impeding him" argument. Look behind you ffs.

Get Lingard in there to get some energy into the side, we are doing the classic «don’t run as much as the lower team». Get Zlatan and McT outta there, Zlatan is dead slow and McT just isn’t very good.

Oh, and this kit is so boring...

I think we will still win this. Lingard and Lukaku to come off from the bench to lift us. Pogba should step up I think in the second half too.
