hardly. it's a myth. He is quite smart about his positioning and also knowing well to tackle or intercept. You don't always have to be fast to deal with pace, once you can read the game. I remember every time he came up against a fast winger or a physical striker the Caf was of the opinion that he would struggle because of obvious reasons and yet he never did.
Then I guess you haven't watched the matches where he played against players with pace.

Every one keeps saying this yet it never happens . Its like some redcafe myth.
Yep. He's had the odd bad game at CB and FB but I don't remember any examples where he was obviously exposed by pace. He's clever enough to avoid ending up in those situations. It's funny, because the Caf periodically faps itself silly over the prospect of signing Hummels, who gets exposed by pace surprisingly often. Certainly more than Blind ever has.

2-0 United. All but kill the tie tonight.

Good time for Pogba to have his best game for United.

Biggest game of the season. If you can't get passed sides like Celta Vigo in Europa League. You simply don't belong in the Champions League.

In the Champions League we'll be up against similar level teams eg Ajax, Celta Vigo in group stage.

We need to be getting passed them, not doing so means we don't belong here and we don't deserve to be.
Relax with all the positivity, fella.....

Think it will be a tough game tonight , they will be fresh and we have looked very leggy around the 60/70 min mark recently . Looking forward to it though .

Think we'll respect them more than the Celta fans seem to think, wouldn't at all be surprised to see us try 3 at the back again. We're better than them, even with out Ibrahmiovic we still have Pogba and DDG who are both a level above Europa league. We absolutely must win this game tonight, I hope we've given up on 4th and are focusing solely on this.

    Think we will play...

    Romero
    Valencia - Bailly - Blind - Darmian
    Pogba - Fellaini
    Mata - Mkhitaryan - Lingard
    Martial
Could even be a courageous 4-2-3-1, but not with Mata starting, I would say.

I don't know enough about Celta Vigo to predict a score. But a European semi in Spain surely isn't going to be as easy as some people here (and pundits) think. Just be grateful we don't have to face Ronaldo! He'd get six against us...

I'd prefer Blind at left-back over Darmian, otherwise that's a pretty good team.

I like the message Jose is putting across to the players, the Europa must take priority at this point. Huge game and the players must be aware of that fact.
Blind is a more intelligent player, but lacks pace and for an almost man-marking job of Aspas, I feel Darmian is a better pick.

Don't want to see Fellaini in DMF alone again please and beside Pogba too, it'll be a disaster.
You didn't like him against Burnley? Had a slow start, but was excellent the rest of that game as #6 (although in a 4-3-3).

We hardly ever win away in Europe. I would bite a hand off for 2-2 right now if given the option. Hope we stuff them though. We a re due a game raising performance.

I think I would play De Gea at this point, and let Romero play in the League.

De Gea to score one by looping it over their keeper with a FK/hoof from the edge of our box.

Apparently, Mata declared to a Spanish newspaper:
“It’s very important because it’s a trophy that United haven’t won and it’s another route into the next Champions League.
“We’ve watched videos and analysed their style of play, which is lively, with talented players and a real defensive intensity. The boss has made it clear what this semi-final means to them, to the fans and the city, so we must be at our best to overcome them.
“Personally, I think they’re an uncomfortable opponent because they man-mark and they’re fast in attack.”

That wasn't an easy game, and almost no one was expecting a win there, the state we were. Like in this game, actually...
I was predicting a win and that Burnely won't be much of a threat to us on attacking. Celta Vigo is another level and they'll be attacking more than Burnely. It was just one game and against an average side, can't build much on it tbh.

Mkhitaryan also seems to turn up in the Europa so they will have that to content with

“So it’s very important that the players are strong mentally and enjoy a difficult atmosphere here and then to wish that at home we get the best out of Old Trafford. When we get that our team has been phenomenal but when we didn’t get that the team was not so confident. Let’s hope we can have that at Old Trafford.” (Mourinho)

I actually think it would be best to play this game as the decisive one, to try to finish it here. Playing at OT hasn't looked an advantage for a while, and crowd support in the Anderlecht and Swansea game's seemed (on tv) marginal.

I agree they're on a different level, but our shape will also be different for the better, I'm hoping. This is probably the game that will tell if this is a winning mentality team or not. The final could be much easier. I remember when Bayern didn't had a chance against Inter in the final.

I think the fact they'll 'have a go' will help us. The teams that sit back is what we struggle most with.

Celta will win this, we need to keep the score down and take it back to OT to have a chance. I'm predicting 2:0, but if we can hold them to 1:0 or 0:0 we'll have done well with our current squad, tiredness, injuries etc. Don't see us scoring tonight.

I would try and keep it nil nil and maybe nick an away goal on the break. I don't see us as favourites in this tie.

I would agree with that. Martial, Rashford and Mhki could do some damage if Pogba and Herrera are up for it.

Celta haven't kept a home clean sheet in the past 8 games, and In Europa, only 3 clean sheets from 11 home games. Can't see us not scoring to be honest.
