Could be a few systems we could go with from that teamsheet, but i'd be happy with a 4231.

People may say Pogba isnt great in a double pivot, but he does perfectly fine there for France. Yes, he has Kante next to him, which of course benefits him a lot, but in terms of his positioning, he is definately more disciplined under Deschamps. Think that comes from instructions, though.

When Pogba first came to United, he played in a deeper role, and to be fair to him, he put in some world clasd performances. However, he was told to leave the midfield base and get forward. That was all well and good, but his recover wasnt great, which meant we'd often get caught on the counter.

For France, as I said before, more often than not, he and Kante will sit in front of the back four, leaving the front four and full backs to attack.

Hopefully that is the case today, and we see the likes of Martial and Rashford hitting Chelsea on the counter, which seemed to be their weakness against West Ham.

Souness not even sure about what he’s saying. Makes shit up on the spot. Must be his anger.

    Anyone but Rashford
This is where everyone gets excited about the attacking line-up only for us to get destroyed in midfield while Rashford and Martial are pinned back into wing back areas.

    Like clockwork.

Two in midfield effectively, that's risky against Hazard. I wonder what Mourinho's plan is. Maybe press their slightly dodgy defenders with quick forwards and see if we can force mistakes? Id have thought we would play Lingard for that.

Personally, worried about the midfield. Chelsea have more numbers and more runners there.

Hopefully he is going 433 and not 4231 as when we play 4231 tends to play it more like 4411 with a really deep midfield and Rashford/Martial acting as fullbacks.
Attacking, not attacking really depends on their positioning and how they are deployed.

We're going to get mullered with that team. Up against the most mobile and dynamic midfield in the league and we leave Herrera and Fred on the bench and rely on Matic to basically deal with it on his own. Bizarre.

Playing 3 versions of Matic wouldn't be mobile enough for this game never mind one.

I'm a little concerned on how we'll deal with their headers. Last time Morata sneaked between our cbs and scored. This time around i only have confidence in Mike Smalling and maybe Pogba, the others are quite weak in the air. Especially this Alonso dude will be asked to put some in.

Anyway, i'd take a draw right now. Hoping for a win and interesting line up, can't complain with the attacking potential we've got.

Very attacking line up. Just cannot see a win though, especially with the record at Stamford Bridge. 3-1 to Chelsea.

Too attacking lineup. Fred should have played and made it a midfield three. Can't see Rashford and Martial working.

No confidence at all for this game. Damage limitation.
More than 75% of us believe Chelsea will win, so the feeling's mutual it seems.

Are we ever gonna see baily and Fred in the same line up again or something. We gonna need some mobile players to take on Chelsea and lindelof and Mata aren't really that mobile.

Mourinho clearly feels the defence isn't good enough, so we might as well go for it. Plus it worked for us last time and the players clearly enjoy playing that way.

So you can see his thinking, but just going 'ah feck it, let's just throw everything at them and see what happens' seems really reckless.

Don't mind the team for once. We were never going to get anything from this game anyway so why not go down trying.

We win this 2-4, easy peasy. Lukaku with a brace, Mata and Rashford. Jose jumps in the crowd celebrating. Pogba man of the match, Souness cries in the studio. Caf happy.
I can actually see all of the above, except "caf happy".

This is either going to be masterstroke or we're going to be 3-0 down or something by half time like Arsenal a few years ago and Fred/Herrera will come on but it'll be too late by then.

Makes me think the midfield is going to play extremely low with the attackers meant to cover a lot of ground.
Team looks only attacking to me on paper. I expect us to do a lot of defending with our attackers carrying the ball.
That midfield is not going to compete with Chelsea.

We're gonna get completely dominated in the middle of the park, Pereira would've been a much better fit over Mata.

Attacking is not worrying me .It's our defending that's the problem.

Attacking line up from Maureen. But surely Chelsea's middle 3 will dominate the game. I think we are better of playing Herrera instead of Mata and try to catch them on the break, we're not good enough to go toe to toe with them.

 Attacking line-up 4-2-3-1. Well done Jose, take risk.
Think it will be more of a 4-5-1, but we’ll see. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Pogba deepest midfielder and Matic allowed to do what is better at and get about in midfield tackling, as opposed to holding.

If being on this forum for years has taught me one thing, if the Caf agree with a team selection, we're in for a bad day.
An example of this that I always think back to was during Moyes season. He kept trying various combinations behind RVP, and everyone was clamoring for him to go with Kagawa, Rooney, Nani behind him.

One game we finally did, then went on to lose that game

This is something he should have been trying in a home game VS Newcastle not away to chelsea.

Lol this will happen. If Martial ad Rashford are pinned back that leaves Lukaku targetman as springboard to our every attack

'I need to shoot, to dribble. If I miss there is no problem.' Hazard.

This is how an attacking player should be told to play.

Saying this remember the odd game where he played 433 and had Kagawa and Mata as his midfield players with Carrick sitting I think. They played some dare I say it beautiful stuff

This can backfire if we defend too passive. The team needs to be aggressive today and look like an actual team, otherwise we might be in trouble.

Hmmm think that line up might just be a little too attacking. If we get dominated in midfield we'll just end up having Martial and Rashford defending.

Nice idea in theory from Jose but can see it backfiring and us bring off Mata to shore up the midfield.
