Too many excuses for Hernandez. He was nervous? We were 3 or 4 nil up when he came on no excuse for nerves, and he should be hitting the back of the net in that penalty and the open net.

Chicha - Bad day in office. Should take the little chances he gets. But not today. I wouldn't dismiss him
I think overall Shaw had a real bad game. He was too excited and kept going forward making Blind save the day.

Do people not find it a bit weird to slaughter Januzaj while excusing Herrera with it not being "his day" with regards to the first half. IMV Januzaj would work better on the wing, having a chance to take on his defender as oppose to constantly having 2 defenders around him in the middle. Herrera immediately benefited from being moved into his correct position in the 2nd half. No reason Januzaj won't benefit from playing on the right (and he's got pace).

    There's only one United!
I think that both Adnan and Young could play on the right.

"I think They don't want to draw us"

LVG on United potentially drawing Bayern and Barca in the Group Stages.

Romero needs to brush-up on his kicking distribution.
Understatement of the thread. Seems fine in his shot stopping ability, but by got his distribution is actually funny at times.

Classy of Rooney. Think it may also have been a farewell gesture.
It's too bad, but if Van Gaal thinks Fellaini is good for 15+ goals this coming season, he must be bonkers. We need a striker and a centre half. If Stones isn't committed to Chelsea, we should go for him. As for the striker, who's available? Muller is out of the question so the list is pretty thin.

Just wondering if thst lucrative Adidas deal had a clause that required qualification to the Champions league proper?

Meaning we could have a ton of cash to spend this week?

Glad that we agree then. He's very good between the posts but lacks when passing the ball.
Maybe we could give a chance to Johnstone??

Very good performance tonight - especially in the second half when Herrera was pushed forward.

It's proved to me that we look much better if and when we move the ball forward quickly without passing it to death.

    Hopefully it continues Sunday.

It's unfortunate what happened to Hernandez but if you're going to have a stinker, have it when the games already won. We're slightly over cautious but it's always good when we play like that and hopefully we take that confidence into the next game. I think Ander has to play in Adnan's position and would have no problem giving Hernandez another go. The fact is, he didn't have a pre season and he's not as sharp/fit as the other lads. He's under more pressure because clearly there's a risk of him leaving for Neymar :)

Stones I think could be ours..but I would be gutted to let them have Jones.

I agree with you about a new striker.

Think a few may be surprised about who we do get it.

Yeah it's very hard to tell which one it is. But personally I think Brugge comtributed just as much. Villa for example did attack us but we were able to walk all over them going forward. Not that premier league defending is amazing, but Brugge looked terrible to me, and likes defeated team.

Hopefully we can show this against Swansea too who will attack us on Sunday.
Yeah, this weekend should be a good test, and should make it a little clearer how well we're doing. Hopefully we at least take some confidence forward from tonight!

I have noticed that people have been saying that Brugge is a poor team, but this not the case. I have even read somewhere say that Brugge would be fighting relegation in the Premier League, but this again is not the case.

They reached the quarter finals of the Europa League last year, beating Besiktas 5-2 on aggregate (Besiktas knocked out Liverpool). They only lost one game against Dnipro, who reached the final of the Europa League. Dnipro beat Napoli, and narrowly lost 3-2 to Sevilla in the final. Brugge only conceded one goal against Dnipro in two legs.

I think more can be taken from the games that we have played against them than these people are giving credit for.

They are even higher ranked than Liverpool, Villireal and Wolfsburg!

They'd make mincemeat out of us.
I don't think they would. We are solid defensively now and LVG is very good in the big games - just look at his record last season.

I'm not sure we have the fire power to beat them, but we would not be destroyed. Also Bayern under Pep are not all that impressive. Barcelona haven't been at their best so far this season, but will be in the champo. Still, neither team would Brugge us.

Think we could have a really good season in the Champions League, we look so good on the counter against teams that actually want to play football against us, but I expect a lot of tight games in the Premier League this time around. We still need to be more clinical if this is the case, Rooney and Depay missed one on one chances and obviously Hernandez missed two guilt edge chances too, as well as a one on one against Newcastle. In the tight games, if we can't take these clear chances we will drop points.

It's looking much more fluid though, especially when Shaw joins the attack. I'm optimistic.

I don't think we were facing the strongest Brugge team we could have, apparently they had a lot of players out injured
