CP mid week, S'ton at the weekend, PSG midweek, Arsenal at the weekend & then Wolves at the weekend after that. 5 games before March 16th. 02/27, 03/02, 03/07,03/10 & 03/16.
Damn, I forgot PSG and Arsenal. A whole lot worse then. Have to get something from those three PL matches.

If it was a muscle or tendon/ligament injury, he have been taken off.

The way he was moving, it looked like some kind of soreness, bruising, lack of conditioning. He completed a couple of full pace runs in the match
    Hope you're right.
I thought he'd been clattered in the ankle area, so he did well to last the 90.

It was a funny game, Mata was the one who seemed to go from fine to injured the quickest, so much so that at first I thought it was Rashford coming off.

Tbh I don't really care about CL football - it's not as though we really challenge anyway.
CL attracts good players and puts money in transfer coffers. It really matters I reckon.

Gonna be tricky. I guess we will go with:

    De Gea

    Young Smalling Lindelof Shaw

    Pereira McTominay Pogba

    Chong Lukaku Sanchez

Another option could be with a diamond, in which case Fred gets Chong's place.

I just don’t think we can judge whether Ole has been a success based on qualification. If you look at where we were when he arrived I don’t think we had any right to be back in the mix. He’s done a fantastic job and if we end up dropping off as a result of injuries then I don’t think he should be looked upon negatively.

If Fred doesn’t appear in this we might as well write his transfer fee off.

A really rough game to have given the injuries. They always bring it to top clubs and are in good form.

I think this will be very very tough game tbh. With our injuries would not be surprised to see us slip up here

Maybe we get to see greenwood start if Rashford is out

It does matter, but only if we're in it.

If we got to the final of the CL but only finished 5th in the league this season, that would be of no benefit to anyone.

It's better to get top four and crash out to PSG because that makes us a top option for all our transfer targets in the Summer. We're a club on the up, playing good football, and ready to mount a challenge on all fronts in 2019/20.

A couple of statement transfers will turn us into the most attractive club in Europe in a lot of ways. We're a relative sleeping giant, and there are places open to ambitious players to turn themselves into a legend at worldwide mega-club. That kind of opportunity doesn't come around very often. United are crying out for their next Cantona-style talisman.

But as you say, CL involvement next season will be key to that. Which is why the Palace game means more to me than next month's CL or FA Cup games.

    Greenwood is injured.

    De Gea
    Young--Smalling--Lindelof--Shaw
    McTominay
    Andreas--Pogba
    Chong--Lukaku--Alexis

subs: Romero; Dalot, Bailly, Jones; Fred, Gomes; Martial (if fit enough)

    or

    McTominay
    Fred--Pogba
    Andreas
    Lukaku--Alexis

subs: Romero; Dalot, Bailly, Jones; Chong, Gomes; Martial

if Martial isn't fit then put Darmian on the bench.

Massive game for us as it's always hard against Palace. Now they have found some form as well which is just typical.

Would like to see Fred play for once, surely he can't be that bad?

Agree with your general point but I don't think we need that talismanic type signing. More so just signings that compliment the rest and fill in the gaps. Sancho, Koulibaly, a right back, midfield depth and we're sorted. Obviously that's still big signings but our "talisman" is already here in Pogba.

I expect it to be a diamond with McTominay/Pogba/Fred/Pereira though. I don’t think we’ll see Gomes unfortunately.

Rashford's injury must have been more bruising/swelling related surely.

No way he can do any full paced sprints with a pulled muscle or twisted ankle.

Lingard and Herrera's are probably more worrying.

A diamond against Wan-Bissaka and van Aanholt doesn't make as much sense as it did against Spurs/PSG/Liverpool. There's little benefit in a split front two when the opposition fullbacks are positionally disciplined.

4-3-3 would be the better option, though Lingard vs. Milevojevic would have been a key battle. I'm not sure who can do that now.

Regardless of what Marcus injury is we shouldn't be risking him in this game and we should pull him from the England duty coming up. I also wouldn't risk Martial unless he's 100% as the Lingard situation today was a big error on Ole's part, I get he doesn't trust Sanchez but still, they must have known Jesse was barely 50% as he only last about 15 minutes.

We haven't used it under Ole yet but I'd go for a back 3 and just stick the two turkey's up top and hope one of them does something, we don't have a 3rd forward to play a front 3 and I don't think this is the game where Ole will throw Chong in.

Hopefully Martial is fit and then we can have him instead of Fred but best to be careful as can’t afford another attacker to be injured. Likes of Chong, Garner and Greenwood on the bench if fit.
I would go also with this 11. Keep the ball and goal will come. I would not risk with Martial from the start. Him and Rash can enter if things go bad.
But maybe Chong for right wing would be solution? Maybe Ole goes with that. Alexis- Lukaku- Chong

    Pogba is our Bryan Robson.

But Cantona was the man who took us from challengers to champions. And now an entire city calls him 'God'.

The talisman we need is a player who can push this already talented squad over the top, much like RvP did in 2013. It's not about the other good players around him. It's about being the difference-maker from what came before.

I believe people would be surprised how comfortably we would navigate this fixture despite current mood, fairly confident of easy win despite our injury woes.

I dunno, in terms of the balance of our team, I think Sancho is the best possible signing we could make this summer. Wouldn't call him a catalyst/talisman type signing. More so just completes our front 3. Rashford I think will stay as our main #9, Martial main guy on the left, we need the main guy on the right and there aren't loads of options out there, but those that are seem perfect like Sancho. After that it's just letting a front 3 of u23 players develop into the world class players that they can definitely turn in to.

Though following up on the previous post... The only player who I would say could be a proper talismanic signing to transform us would be if we could somehow get Hazard. Goes in for Lingard's current position behind Martial and Rashford... Would be wank worthy. Not a chance though. But I agree in that someone like him could definitely turn us into a contender for everything. Just don't think there's a chance for him and for the rest it's going for someone like Sancho who can be world class but is still young.

I agree with all of that.

When I say talisman, I specifically mean a player who's the icing on the cake, with a winner's attitude, and who inspires teammates and fans alike.

All the existing United players you've mentioned are the 'cake'. Maybe Sancho can be the 'icing'. I would love it if he was.

Either way, it makes us potentially the most attractive club in Europe for the player with the requisite mentality. Though all that will depend on being in the CL

He's clearly got the job, short of some unbelievable collapse. Don't think that's even up for debate now.
