"It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile winning's winning."

I mean I was furious behind the computer today with the incompetence of some of our players but we won, we're there. Now to the transfer market for two defenders and holding midfielder, well maybe striker too..

Such a strange feeling, absolute relief at getting the 3 points but I'm still fuming on the inside after watching that pathetic performance.. Up there with the worst things I've ever watched, and I've seen the village

You don't get an assist for crossing a ball nowhere near a teammate and a defender doing something idiotic. He's ok as a bench player and happy enough for him to be in the squad, but he's absolutely not good enough to start for us. I'm just repeating myself here.
So a direct cross that is headed in by our player doesn't count as an assist... Dear lord.

Lots of negativity in our squad. Thank God top four is secured. Massive summer ahead and lots of work LVG has to do. Many players should see the door out.

I was talking about the penalty.
So putting one player on his arse and doing another, putting a very good cross in and winning a penalty counts for nothing, alright soldier.

Cheer up, United won, even though you may hate the players who won it for us.
I don't hate them. Look back at the start of the season, I was the one who started the thread condemning the people who booed Fellaini. Doesn't change the fact he had a mare today, every single time he either gave away the ball or fouled the oppposition.

Young was the best of a bad bunch but his crosses were inconsistent. He should've set up Falcao or Mata prior to Fellaini's goal and he had two others he blazed over the attacking players. Both can't be regular starters for us next year.

I'd be very surprised if they are regular starters next season, think Van Gaal is trying to make the best of what he has got. Stumbled on something quite good with Carrick as the lynchpin but constantly getting injuries isn't fecking helping right now.

I'm never sure if you have a fetish for following me around and complaining about my posts or if you are just genuinely special.

If you can't see how bad his movement is as a lone attacker, and focal point of the team then I'm not sure why you feel your opinions are worth sharing on such a public forum? He is consistently a step behind the defenders opposing him and he chooses the wrong run almost every time. He stands still when he should move and moves away from the line when he should hold.

Watch how often a defender or midfielder runs with the ball from deep, into space and looking for a pass only to see him lost and be forced into a back pass or loss of possession.

There were 7 or 8 occasions in that second half, where those players offering "NOTHING" were dying to find him but couldn't because his movement is so bad. Ashley Young broke clear multiple times - have a look back and see the positions Falcao got himself into on each of those breaks.
I honestly have absolutely no idea who you are but by the sounds of it you must repeatedly spew shit on a regular basis, full points for being consistent.

On at least 2 occasions he lost his man and made space for himself at the near post, both times Young fecked up the cross. have a look back yourself mate, hell even have a look back at this very thread and you'll see others crediting his movement, perhaps you missed the one two with Herrera that led to a brilliant save, or you may have even missed the throughball that had Young controlled properly would've seen him through on goal.

I most definitely do not beleive he's the answer for us, but I try to watch the game with an open mind and not preconceived opinions on players that you seem to deem appropriate to force on innocent posters.

You don't get an assist for it no. Of course you don't. I thought this was common knowledge?
And I thought generally people were able to make up their own mind whether a player deserves credit for 'assisting' a goal and don't rely on Optastats to tell them who is the bestest in the whole wide world. The fact you decided you concentrate on this point pretty much concludes the notion that everyone but you feels Young deserves praise and not criticism today. I think its best to end it there, don't you?

Young and Fellaini may well not be starters next season. If LVG can get better options into the squad then happy days. But it's idiotic to be shitting on players who we are depending on to help us secure top 4 this season, and have actually had good seasons for us, far better than Angel fecking Di Maria has!
You freaking out that Young and Fellaini started, when we don't actually have anyone better available, and when they have had had good seasons themselves, is nuts.

I didn't concentrate on it at all, you brought it up in the first place. Where have I criticised his performance today? I merely stated he's not good enough to start for us every week, which he's not. He was good today. It still doesn't change the fact we won't go very far with him (and others) starting every week.

IDK even after we wanted to win this game by any means, some people still complaining. Ok yes we are not good enough and we were absolute shit today but we did what most of us almost wanted at the start of the season which is securing a C.L spot. Cant we just cheer a bit and look forward to the work that our club has to do in the transfere market. The only way is up and next season we will be better.

An open mind and preconceived opinions? You're ranting on like he scored a hattrick and I'm still insisting the world is flat! It was another brutal performance in a long list of the same from a man who makes multiple hundreds of thousands of pounds a week to score goals.

It's amazing how Young managed to find Blind and Fellaini in the box but was so incapable of finding the magnificently positioned Falcao!!!

You're making up arguments to fit your ranting now. If I had said he was playing well you'd be on here screeching about how bad he was. It's flattering I supposed in a way, but doubt my patience for your nonsense will last too long.

    Why criticize players like Fellaini?

He played some good matches for us this season.

Rather, I could criticize LVG for not buying any defenders in the January Transfer window for if he had done that we would have easily got into the first three places before today!

The defence needs a major overhaul. They pick up far too many injuries, some are brainless and not an ounce of composure under pressure. They play the ball around when things are going well, but as soon as they are under pressure they fall to pieces.

Good to win after 3 defeats but oh boy that was hard to watch

    Wayward passing
Everyone slipping all over the pitch
    lack of penetration
    too slow in possession
Jones and Evans are quite scary to watch when 1 on 1 as they are just a moment away from making a huge mistake
Blind had a very poor game and what was he doing for that free kick

    Good things though

    De Gea was ace
    Young roasted the RB
Mata very influential when he moved to No 10
Falcao 1st touch and ball control getting better

The club needs to stop this nonsense, close up the voting for Player of the Year, and give it to De Gea. That point-blank save he made in the second half was complete robbery of a goal. He bailed us out big time, yet again. We would never be 4th in the table without him playing.

I was expecting something of a letdown after our run of games with Pool, City, and Chelsea, but I never would've expected us to play this badly after showing so much improvement. LVG emphasizes patience in the course of a game but I sometimes wonder if this is the right approach with how fast and hard games in the PL are. Palace outplayed us for a 25-minute stretch simply because they looked more up to it. On top of it, they looked more composed and far better organized than we did. We badly needed to take hold of the game and were plodding around, inviting them to come at us. Our backline was a total mess outside of Smalling, of course made worse by his coming off and Sergio Evans-Ramos coming on.

The injuries during the match didn't help but if Liverpool lose tomorrow than it would be a good position to let Shaw, Rooney, and Smalling rest up for next season. This game was a good illustration of how lacking in depth we are, which is a big concern of mine going into CL if we make it. Smalling got hurt at the worst possible time of the game (and this season), leaving us with Evans and McNair as CBs and Jones on the left. We also have no half-replacement for Rooney if he comes out. Besides signing a world class CB, we need to buy up manpower for the backline and another striker/AM who can take Rooney's place.

AFAIC, Evans and Valencia need to feck off when this season is over. These two are below the standard of an average footballer and it's a joke that both are still on this club.

I think the whole squad needs a shake down. Shaw is either injury prone or very unlucky. The only two who looked the part were Mata and Ander. Blind goes too far forward and loses the ball in stupid places. The rest, it's all stop and start.

Not just Blind, Valencia, Evans and Smalling today made far too many mistakes.

I said somewhere else that he was quite happy to drop Ander and recoach him. Maybe he should do the same with Daley. Far too indisciplined.

You may not 'hate' them, but you've clearly got an agenda which heavily affects what you see when we're playing. You moaned about them before the game because they were starting and, low and behold, here you are criticising them when the two of them were massively responsible for us winning.

Deary me, what a ridiculous exaggeration. Even if we'd drawn, Liverpool may not win again this season and we've got a game after Arsenal to play as well.

Look at how we were playing against the better sides in the league a few weeks ago, how can you say we can't get anything against Arsenal?

I know we weren't very good today but jesus christ, some of you are ridiculous.

Typical knee jerk sky is falling fans. It's one of the reasons I avoid in here when we lose or play poor. Place gets unbearable and hard to reason with some. Not saying everyone should put their heads in the sand when things aren't going our way but Jesus Christ, some of us need to get a grip. We won we are basically back in Champions league, let's drink a glass of wine like lvg and calm. Relax a bitbit
